lilrose
I know that the H5N1 virus can be spread from bird droppings and saliva, but what about from their blood? West Nile Virus is spread from the blood of infected birds through mosquito bites. Does anyone know if H5N1 can be spread the same way? If so, we may be in for a heap of trouble. Link to comment

bee1425
There is no evidence that the influenza virus can be transmitted by mosquitoes. Link to comment
Guest Guest
I hope not! Mosquitos are our state bird! Link to comment
HapyGirl
I looked and looked and could not find any site that showed any risk of infection from influenza by mosquito. I believe it is safe to assume the risk of transmission is not an issue, and the best defense from influenza is to practice good hygine- cover sneezes and coughs and WASH hands thoroughly and freequently. It is an airborne viral transmission only as far as I was able to discover. Whew, one less thing to worry about! Link to comment
