logcabinmama
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) Overview Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a group of chronic disorders that begin in childhood and sometimes last into adult life. Problems generally associated with ADHD include inattention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior. They can affect nearly every aspect of life. Children and adults with ADHD often struggle with low self-esteem, troubled personal relationships and poor performance in school or at work. The best treatment for ADHD is a matter of debate. Currently, psychostimulant drugs are the most common treatment. But although these drugs can relieve many symptoms, they don't cure ADHD. Counseling, special accommodations in the classroom, and family and community support are other key parts of treatment. germanbini
Thanks for this post Snow. I have ADD and it can be both a gift and a struggle. I have chosen to not medicate but to accept myself as I am. I have found that a healthy diet does help too. Link to comment
HapyGirl
{I have 2 kids diagnosed with Aspergers, and one with undiagnosed ADD) One point I would like to make that might help those with children/adults who have ADD/ADHD. According to many places I have read, it is considered to be part of the autism spectrum. Kind of like aspergers "lite" which explains the impulsivity and the social issues, poor organizational skills etc. http://www.bigsplace.com/ADD.html http://www.boscbooks.com/store/product_inf...products_id=136 http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/aalink.html Link to comment
