ricardo
I can't eat red meat so I switched over to ground turkey. Ground turkey doesn't make me sick but I just don't want to eat it anymore. I'm looking for recipes for veggie burgers and veggie mix so that I can crumble it up and use it like meat. I've made TVP meatloaf in the past and it was good but needed lots more spices. Otherwise it was better than meat. Sorry carnivores. Link to comment
ricardo
Veggie Burger Mix 1/2 c Dry garbanzo beans 1/2 c Dry soybeans 1/2 c Dry lentils 1/2 c Yellow split peas 1/2 c Instant brown rice 1/2 c Rolled oats 1 package Dry soup mix or Salad dressing mix 1/4 c Bread crumbs 1/4 c Cornmeal 1 1/2 tsp. Baking soda Mix all ingredients in blender. When everything is reduced to powder, combine in a container. To use, mix 1 cup of the mix with 2/3 cup HOT water or combination of water and BBQ sauce, water and wine, or any other liquid you would like to use. Let sit 15 minutes, then form into 3 patties. Cook in a pan coated with nonstick spray. NOTE: If you use BBQ sauce as part of the liquid, they will brown much faster because of the sugar in the sauce. This recipe makes 4 cups of dry mix. The variations for this mix are endless, as you can use different dry mixes. Good Seasons makes fat free dry salad dressing mixes, and there are many flavors of soup mix. You could also use the dry seasoning mixes, like taco seasoning, etc Link to comment
ricardo
This recipe calls for soybeans. I can't find soybeans. The only way I'm going to get soybeans in this recipe is to drive an hour away. Link to comment
ricardo
I bought a package of veggie burger mix and on the back it tells how you can use it like you would ground meat. You soak it and then you fry it in some oil or butter until it's done. I make a casserole with it. Link to comment
Grubby
This post looks like it will become my own little journal for new experiences in food. I'm going to have to work on that recipe! Link to comment
