Freezing Butter

Ogre

Recommended Posts

Got around to using my new vacum sealer last night .

The idea is to have a WTSHTF dairy box in the bottom of the Chest freezer. So I added 2lb of salted butter and 1lb of cheese to my prep shop, vacum sealed them and boxed them.

However, having taken this step, can anyone give me an idea how long they'll remain viable down there ?

I have kept butter and cheese in the chest freezer for quite a while without any adverse taste (probably at least a year). I usually rotate, though, when I buy new stuff....but have had something fall to the bottom of freezer, and thus the year+ LOL!
