Joni
I sliced the apples and made a light syrup to go over them. the 1st batch did not seal. all the apples floated to the top and I think pressed against the seal, stopping them from sealing .I reseal again with new lids and covers and 2 out of 5 did not seal. Does anyone have any ideas on what I maybe doing wrong. Joni Link to comment
Leah
Are you leaving an air space? If they can hit the lid it sounds as if you are filling them too full. Link to comment
Joni
I left about a 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch space Link to comment
Violet
Joni, Are you doing a raw pack, putting the raw apple slices in the jar then adding the syrup? If you will heat the apples in the syrup first it should help your problem. They swell if you raw pack them. Canning apples: http://web1.msue.msu.edu/imp/mod01/01600352.html Link to comment
