dogmom4
Thursday I was going through my worm bins and and something stung/bit me on the arm. It immediately started hurting like the dickens. I never saw what it was but on closer observation could see a tiny, pale stinger. Maybe a hornet? Got the stinger out...did I mention this was hurting like &%*#? Started applying ice because it started swelling...a donut shape around the sting. It never got bigger than a dime but kind of freaked me out for a minute when it started developing a "tail" that traveled off from the main swelling about an inch and a half. Oh, I also took a antihistamine because I didn't know what stung me. The swelling and pain lasted about 24 hrs and several days later there is still a small mark that itches sometimes like crazy. This got me to thinking about what could happen if no doctor was available and I or someone in my family had an allergic reaction (never been stung by a wasp before...) What do you do in that situation? Also, I had just been killing black widow spiders when going through my worm bins (we have tons of them here) and I had a momentary panic that one had gotten on me. What can you do for a venomous spider bite if no doctor is available? Link to comment
CrabGrassAcres
Slap pine salve on it and a dressing. Then start popping vit C tablets or lots of strong rose hip tea to neutralize the poison. Link to comment
dogmom4
Found this site for bites...seems mostly for brown recluse... http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/spider_bite.html Another general one on spider bites... http://www.biteremedy.com/Spider-Bites.html I think I'm going to go attack some spiders in the yard...after reading and looking at some of the pictures I think avoidance of any bite is the best thing of all....
