brendajo
I have heard you are not supposed to take aspirin when you have the flu.Is this correct or has my mind wandered off again? Link to comment
JCK88
It is okay for adults to use aspirin. Don't give it to people under age 16. I found this at a UK NHS website: at http://www.nhs.uk/news/2009/04April/Pages/...eflulatest.aspx I have flu-like symptoms - what should I do? stay at home and rest take medicines such as aspirin, ibuprofen or paracetamol to relieve the symptoms (following the instructions with the medicines). Children under 16 must not be given aspirin or ready-made flu remedies containing aspirin drink plenty of fluids Phone your GP or NHS Direct if you have recently travelled to Mexico or another affected area or if you develop complications such as shortness of breath Link to comment
Suz
I have heard you are not supposed to take aspirin when you have the flu.Is this correct or has my mind wandered off again? Its my understanding asprin would/could cause a cytokinestorm My mine might have wandered off too, as I'm thinking I read an article where homeopathic doctors were intervied in 1918 and said no asprin helped their patients survive. hth Link to comment
JCK88
http://scienceblogs.com/aetiology/2009/04/...s_in_health.php That's a link to some professional contamination control and medical people discussing aspirin use in the flus and also cytokine storms. The virus causes the cytokine storms, not the aspirin. And for a lengthy discussion on them, check here: http://www.fluwikie.com/index.php?n=Scienc...erCytokineStorm Link to comment
