Christy
My apologies ladies. This recipe is here somewhere and even after a few searches it does not come up. The pumpkin production this year however is fantastic and I sure hope someone is kind enough to post the recipe again. Remember reading someone said it was very sweet. Just can´t find it... Canned Nerd
Pumpkin Pie purees and other squashes are on the banned list for canning because of the density. Cubed pumpkin is the only thing available. Link to comment
Violet
Christy, I am sorry, but canned nerd is right. It can lead to boutlism. The pie filling could be frozen, though. No pumpkin butter, either is safe to make and can. Only the chunks, packed in water and pressure canned is safe to process. Link to comment
Christy
Yes that is right. Seen it on the list of no-no's. But also remember seeing this recipe for very sweet pumpkin pie filling and cannot remember if someone said it was not fit for canning. Perhaps because there was so much sugar in it it was seen as ok to can? Either that or the meds cause me to hallucinate (cannot sleep anymore cos of the steroids) and I've daydreamt about the recipe here Link to comment
Canned Nerd
There are lots of unsafe canning recipes on the Internet, along with people that swear by them, but they are still unsafe. If you want to make pumpkin pie filling, do it, but just don't can it. Link to comment
Christy
Will take your advice and see us forced to eat lots of pumpkin pie in the near future. Oh dear, life can be so hard Link to comment
