suzann
I just got a dehydrator the day before Thanksgiving...Thanks to my husband. Is there any trick to doing sliced bananas? I sprayed them with lemon juice. came out a little dark. How thick do you cut the bananas? I have watched almost all the videos from dehydrate2store web site... Link to comment
Canned Nerd
I've never sprayed mine with lemon juice. Just slice 1/4" or so thick and put on parchment or a solid fruit tray, maybe sprayed with some oil first to limit the sticking, and dehydrate. They never go 'dry' but after 8-10 hours they are done. You might want to check out the book "Mary Bell's Complete Dehydrator Cookbook". It is the bible for dehydrating foods and has information on everything. Link to comment

Violet
Lemon juice makes them taste bitter. They are just naturally brown. I would not worry about that part. They are nothing like the store things that are actually plantains, coated in sugar and deep fat fried in coconut oil. Home dried bananas are chewy. Slice 1/4 inch thick and dry. We don't teach to use parchment as it slows down the drying time of them. Put on reg. trays sprayed lightly with Pam. You can also sprinkle dried jello on the bananas for fun. Link to comment
