btupper2001
Hi Everyone, I'm looking for a recipe for bbq kettle chips. Those of you from the Midwest I would prefer to find something that mimics the Old Dutch Brand Kettle BBQ Chips. I've tried searching the web and haven't really had much luck. I have a nice mandolin so slicing the potatoes is easy. Primarily I'm looking for the spices. I know a lot of people just use a chili powder or something similar. It just isn't the same. I really like salty snacks and I rarely buy them because I can't stomach $2.00+ for even the generic ones except once in a blue moon. I figured someone here would have a good recipe that I could use. Thanks, B Link to comment
Jake
I have never tried this but it might work to get you the barbeque flavor you want. What if you would take your favorite bbq sauce and dehydrate it on a fruit leather sheet in a deydrator until it is totally dry and brittle then put it in a food processor and blend it until it is a powder then sprinkle that on your chips? That should give you that bbq taste you want. (If it works that is) Link to comment
btupper2001
Thanks Jake - I never actually thought about that before. I think I'll have to try it! Link to comment
ol'momma
This is actually the spice rub I use for Beer-can Chicken, but it tastes very simular to BBQ chips. Maybe it would work? You can make a big bac\tch and freeze what you don't use. Spice Rub 1/2 cup sweet paprika 2 tablespoons kosher salt 2 tablespoons garlic powder 1 tablespoon dried thyme 2 teaspoons brown sugar 2 teaspoons ground black pepper 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper Link to comment
