furbabymom
I found a jug of maple syrup in my pantry, and the expiration date on the container is 7/09. I don't have a lot of experience with maple syrup - does it go bad? If it does, will I know it from the look/taste/texture? Link to comment
Amishway Homesteaders
7/09 is not THAT far past the 'use by date' and they always gear to the 'way before deadline' to be safe. SO YES you can use it, plus seeing it was store bought (not homemade) then it is even safer to use. But do it soon - done save it for a rainy day. Link to comment
furbabymom
Thanks! Off to throw out that jug of icky fake maple stuff that I never liked anyway and start using the good stuff! :-) Link to comment
Violet
It can go bad. It can mold, ferment, and smell yeasty. Maple syrup in sealed containers keeps well at room temperature. To assure the best quality of maple syrup we recommend that you refrigerate or freeze. Once the container has been opened, refrigeration is necessary. Link to comment
