farm~maid
I was finally able to find a jar of the newer Pickle Crisp. I do see the difference in the size of the granules. I was happy to find it, but the price didn't make me very happy. I am getting ready to put an order into Hoegger's and they sell a liquid calcium chloride. Can I use this the same as the powder or granule Pickle Crisp? I know I've seen it sold in bulk as a powder, but never liquid. It was less expensive and I can save on shipping if I order from another source. Thanks so much~ Link to comment
Violet
I have no idea. Never heard of the liquid. Is if for food use ? I got mine in bulk from Bulk Foods online. Link to comment
farm~maid
I believe it is as it's in the cheesemaking section and it does say it's used for cheesemaking. I've tried searching for more information, but haven't found much that helps. I'll share any further information as I find it. Thanks, Violet. Link to comment
farm~maid
I just wanted to share that I haven't found any information on using the liquid form for canning. This year, I'm using Pickle Crisp. Link to comment
Violet
It would probably work, but I sure would have no idea how much it would take. Wouldn't want rock hard veggies in the jars. Link to comment
farm~maid
Violet, I was thinking as you, that it would probably work. But, with all the time, money, and hard work put into canning/preserving "probably" isn't a word I want to bank on. I like to be certain. I will keep looking for answers as I'm curious, but for now will use something tried and true. I appreciate your input. Link to comment
