Trudy
At the beginning of canning season this year I was having trouble with my big element on my stove. It was sitting lower than the other burners from all the weight of heavy canners over the years. So I ordered a canning element and it works great. I've been wondering if I might need to remove it when I'm not canning? I started off removing when I wasn't canning, but that seemed like a lot of wear and tear on the plug socket. Do you leave yours on all the time? Link to comment
Violet
My friend just left hers in the whole time. She loved it for stir frying, especially. Ask the appliance repair places if you will do harm by leaving it in all the time. Link to comment
Trudy
Hi Violet, It really does seem to cook better. It heats up faster and I believe it gets hotter. You just have to be remember to turn it down or things will burn. I really want to get a gas stove when we're able. The propane guy quoted me a price of $900 to change over to gas, so I guess it wont happen anytime soon. I had a Jen-Air at my house before we moved to the coast, and I loved it. Dh says that he will get me another one some day. Link to comment
