Food Saver 2420 question

I have a V2420 and am having a problem sealing jars tonight.

 

 

I have done it a few times in the past.

 

The jars are not sealing, the machine just runs and runs.

 

I made sure it is locked, I have checked the jars (tried different jars), checked the lids (tried multiple lids), checked the connections, tried the two lids like the VS website suggests......nothing seems to work......then thought maybe I was pushing the wrong button (one says Vaccum and Seal and one says Canister) neither one works yet I KNOW that I have done it before!

 

Any ideas?

PS.....I stopped and vacuumed sealed a bag with no problems so the machine is working.....I am just messing something up in the canning jar feature.......in the meantime the 14 bunches of broccoli I dehydrated are waiting for me to figure it out :-)

I have the 2480 model and the same thing happens to me. If I can't get a seal after trying 3-4 different jars and lids I give up and use the bags.

If doubling the lids doesn't do it then I have found that it is usually a flaw on the rim of the jar that keeps it from sealing. Try another jar. You can also heat the lids in hot - not boiling - water to soften the sealer and that will help. But it is usually some small bump or rough spot on the jar rim that causes the problem. Good luck.

Also make sure the rubber seal (mine is blue) inside the jar sealer is absolutely clean. A small speck of food is sufficient to prevent a seal. You might also check that you are getting suction on the line. On rare occasions it can become clogged and needs to be unblocked.
