Non electric vacuum sealer

A friend passed this along to me. She has one and loves it.

 

Have any of you seen this?

 

I have a Pump N Seal and don't like it! This looks way better and you use it with the Food saver jar attachment instead of poking a hole through your lids with the Pump N Seal.

 

The one I found locally was not the same brand and was plastic so I did not buy it. This one is available on Amazon and looks more sturdy.

Interesting. I've never seen those before. I guess as long as you don't have Arthritis or similar problems with strength in your hand it would work fairly well. My method originally was going to a garage sale and buying an older FoodSaver sealer for $5-$10 since everyone is always upgrading their units and selling off their old ones. Eventually I would get a newer version at such sales.

 

I also have the units from ZipLock and Glad for doing the zip seal bags for temporary storage.

I did buy one of these this week. It works but it takes ALOT of pumping to seal the jar. I am taking it back and letting the guy at the auto store try it to see if this is normal...that it should take sooo much to pull that vacuum. Will update.

Yup, takes lots of exercise. That's why I prefer the electric or cordless ones. I do keep the manual one in my emergency supplies, along with my manual crank radio/light, and manual toothbrush.
