ricardo
Earlier this week we ate at Wendy's and noticed that no one got tomatoes on their sandwhiches. We just figured that who ever made them forgot. We went to Wendy's again yesterday, yes we like Wendy's, and there was a sign stating that because of the hurricanes in Florida there would be a shortage on tomatoes. Has anyone else noticed this? I wonder how long the shortage will be for? Quote Link to comment
Synn
We have pretty much stopped buying tomatoes at work because they are 2.50 a pound.. Quote Link to comment
logcabinmama
That is really something, and no, we have been getting all the tomaotes we need around here. I'm sure there will be a shortage of fruit also because of the hurricanes, if this is the case. Quote Link to comment
Guest Guest
Do you know why Wendy's makes square hamburgers? Quote Link to comment
Guest Guest
Just this morning when we attended our radio control airplane breakfast the man next to me asked for Tomatoes on his plate instead of hash browns and she said she couldn't do that the Tomatoes were too expensive! I had just bought Canadian Tomatoes (hydroponic I believe) at Costco on Friday last week and they have not gone up in price, so we will see what happens. We always receive a box of Texas Red Grapefruit from my DH's sister for Christmas and don't think their fruit was affected by weather, but of course how much is on hand has something to do with price too..... corvettesmycar77
Gee when I was told the other day that tomatoes were that high I could hardly believe it. Although we have no tomatoe shortage here we had a bumper crop this year. DW canned and stored lots and we have plenty untill next years crop plus we have some growing in the house Quote Link to comment
Guest Guest
The HUMAN kids are enough right now!!! Now, will you please tell us how you're growing tomatoes in the house? How much sun do they need; direct sunlight? Are you hand-pollinating them, or just letting the original unripe tomatoes ripen? Did you transplant the from the garden, or grow these particular ones in pots from the start? Sounds interesting... we don't have a greenhouse. And again, WELCOME!!!! Quote Link to comment
gardnmom
Welcome to the family, ozarkgoatman. Good to see you posting. We also canned some tomatoes and froze some fried green ones. Quote Link to comment

Linda
welcome and please do share how you grow your tomatoes in the house. Quote Link to comment
corvettesmycar77
Yes we have goats, we wouldn't be without them. They give us all our dairy products and alot of the meat that we eat. As far as growing tomatoes in the house we use a shop light over top of the pots. DW also has green beans and cucumbers growing as well. It's not a great system but it works, can't wait untill we get our green house built !!!!!!! BTW we raise nubians. Thanks for all the 's Quote Link to comment
