Wheeler
Fees for birth certificates and copies of other records in the state of Michigan are going up. Governor Granholm has signed a bill to increase the fees of: authentic copies, from 18 dollars to 29 dollars, an accelerated search for a vital record, from five dollars to ten dollars, a new birth certificate following an adoption, from 26 dollars to 40 dollars. The newly increased fees for copies of vital records are expected to generate one and a half million dollars per year for the state. Link to comment
Homesteader
Gee, I'm glad I don't need any Michigan birth certificates. $29 seems pretty high. Link to comment
logcabinmama
WOW!!!!!! Things must be bad there to have to increase them that much. One way to get money for the state. Link to comment
Bamboo
I'm gonna wait and see just where that money goes.... the roads, schools, where???? Link to comment
HapyGirl
That is really steep! In IA 3 yrs ago the fee was $20.for a birth certificate. And it seems awfully unfair to make the cost for an adoption certificate so much more than the birth certificate Link to comment
