  1. I do believe, I would have eaten somewhere else. Gloves used once can be contaminated in a circumstance like that. . I wonder what a health inspector would have had to say about it. I worry about people without sick pay but that isn't a good enough reason to get everyone else sick.

I have a friend that carries hand sanitizer everywhere and uses it when they leave a store. But, when that friend had Shingles which can give people the chicken pox, they didn't even worry about going into a store and touching everything. And then walking out to the car and using the hand sanitizer.

  2. Who set up the budget? How did ya'll decide on your allowances (you get one also)? Perhaps, he needs to feel like he is in control and the budget seems to be someone else controlling him. Give him the list of income, bills, etc. and ask him to set up the budget he thinks is appropriate.

On the other side, if the money isn't there, don't spend it. Buy groceries FIRST. Then go down the list of bills, if you have money left. If there isn't enough money, after you buy groceries, ask him which bill he wants you to pay with what is left, if there is enough left to pay any of your bills. Don't use your grocery money for other things. Is the family overdrawn $400 a month or dp ya'll spend $400 more than planned or are ya'll short $400 each month to pay bills?

  3. She needs to know why this dog is being kept. And why it is called a "Bite Dog". Does that mean it bites or that it has bit someone and is in quarantine. Quarantine dogs, she shouldn't be walking, IMO.

She needs to talk with her employer about their liability if something happens to her and she hasn't had any kind of instruction for how to handle an aggressive dog. Maybe she shouldn't be wording it that way but that is the way that it is. How about suggesting a muzzle when handling the dog?

Other question, how does her size match to the dog's size? Is it because the dog doesn't recognize her as an alpha? Or, if he is not neutered, there are times she shouldn't be walking him.

  4. Contact the extension office (usually in county seat). They usually have a way to check the gauge for you. In my case, sometimes you had to take it on a certain day (the equipment is shared by more than one office). Leave the lid with them and they can find out if your gauge is accurate.

  5. I had very bad trouble with migraines when I was younger. Monthly, weather changes, etc. One thing that helped me was to take B-complex vitamins. Even if I take a multi-vitamin, I would take the B-complex. Didn't get rid of them completely but it cut down on how many and the severity. I still take them.

At one time, I thought that was a stupid idea and stopped taking the B-complex. Never did that again. Took about a week before the migraines started giving me fits and took almost a month for them to stop after I went back to taking the B-complex.

  6. my opinion for what it is worth is that they may have allergies. My niece at 8 months of age was in the hospital with bronchitis. They had to deep clean her room and get rid of anything that would harbor dust or mold. She grew out of it thank goodness but if there are any allergies, they would keep the children from getting completely well. Any kind of dust, smoke, etc will aggravate until their systems have time to completely recover. Just no more symptoms doesn't mean they have recovered, only that there are no other symptoms.

  7. I am still waiting for the affidavit from the po. In the meantime, I looked up the company address on GoogleEarth. Not a sign on the address for either the business I ordered from or the business that endorsed the check. The website is still there but hasn't been updated since 2007. Sounds like a good money maker for him.

  8. Well, just learned a lesson. Fortunately, not too expensive. Lost $24.00 plus $5.50 to the post office to show it had been cashed.

Let me backtrack. Last summer, we ordered some clothing from a company on the web. Sent a postal money order, thinking it was safer. Well, we were wrong. Now it is December and we don't have the merchandise and cannot get an answer from the company.

So, i go to the post office to find out if the money order has been cashed. Cost $5.50 for them to send in a request for the information. I got a copy of my cashed money order showing an endorsement by someone besides the payee.

So, i call the accounting service. They will send me an affidavit for me to sign and send it to the payee and they will sign if they cashed the money order or not. Then that goes to the post office and if we didn't cash it, the post office will reimburse the original amount of the money order, $24.00 (but it has already cost me $29.50). And I should send the affidavit via certified mail, return receipt requested (about $4-5.00).

But, they have to call me to arrange to send out the affidavit. They called this morning. Endorsement by other than the payee (if the payee is a business) does NOT show fraud. If it there is more than one company related to each other, any of them can cash the money order. After all, it is just like CASH. Actually, according to the woman on the phone, you don't have to put a payee name on the money order since anyone can cash it regardless of how it is endorsed.

So, why buy a postal money order. And they wonder why they are losing business.

  9. Actually, Jackie mentions things that SHE cans and states very correctly that there are reasons not to can things and reasons to can things. She is very careful in what she puts in her books. Some people will print instructions without adding her disclaimer and that is not right.

As for the free books, these are compilations of her Ask Jackie column. You can read her articles at Ask Jackie Online at www.backwoodshome.com/blogs/JackieClay/ and see what you think. She has been doing this for over 40 years and knows quite a bit about her subject.
