  1. I'm going through a program with a LOT of green smoothies (yay, veggies!).  I'm a very texture-oriented person, and my blender kept leaving threads of celery and greens in my smoothie, which means I was having to spit stuff out while I'm drinking and drink a lot slower to get around it.

Ordered a Nutribullet Rx for $80 (Amazon Warehouse - used, but that just means somebody ordered it, looked at the package, and sent it back, in this case).  I used it for the first time this morning, and this thing just purees the crap out of everything and it's beautiful.

  2. It won't let me quote AND type for some reason.

I was going to point out that cluster isn't usually followed by UH OH!!! if you're around military people or engineers...There's another word that I'm pretty certain we're not supposed to use on this site.  :24:

  3. We have a front porch, and it looks fabulous!  There's also spaces down along side where I want to put a raised box with herbs in it, but I'm not sure they won't just fry in the west Texas sun.  They'd at least only get sun until about noon there.

  4. I use the Instant Pot quite a bit.  I always worry about getting the ones that just go on the stove because I'm notorious for getting distracted while cooking and worry that I'll end up building up enough pressure for them to blow.  :behindsofa:

We do, however, need to go through and purge the kitchen.  That's going to take quite a bit of time, as I looooove kitchen gadgets.  One of my favorite stores ever is Der Kuchen Laden in Fredericksburg, TX, where they have all sorts of nifty contraptions.

Nope, had no idea.  HOW do they mine under the great lake??????   Hafta look that up....curiouser and curiouser...

You want some real fun, look up Lake Peigneur Mining Disaster on Youtube.  This one shows a bit of that mine and how it all works. They basically drill the shaft down some ways away, then go sideways.

I don't remember hearing that TheCG but I do remember hearing that if people survived the first wave of the Spanish Flu, the second wave is what hit them the hardest.

I don't know if they let their guard down thinking it was over or if their immune system was weakened.

Weird, because I heard the opposite. That those who got the early flu in the spring were infected at a lower rate and generally fought it off better. Guess I better read the books again.

  7. Do any of y'all read stuff from Dr. Andrew Saul?  He wrote Doctor Yourself and a few other things in the orthomolecular (read: megadoses of vitamins) realm.  He has some interesting stuff up for Coronavirus.  He's posted on Facebook that there are doctors working in China with the WHO on using vitamin C against Coronavirus.

  8. So, if I remember correctly, you wouldn't use elderberry for the Spanish Flu because the cytokine storm set off by the flu was basically your immune system on overdrive, and THAT was what caused the liquid pooling in the lungs and hemorrhages.

Anybody else remember hearing that anywhere?

Meanwhile, I saw a video that the crematoria in Hubei etc are running 24/7, and relatives are not getting a chance to say goodbye before their loved ones are cremated.  Cremation takes 1-3 hours.  Even at three hours, even if they only had a three-slot crematorium, 500 bodies wouldn't take that long.

I would be interested in knowing what their normal operations are, and when there's a possibility of a pandemic, what does "saying goodbye" normally consist of in their culture.  There might be a good reason not to let people say goodbye to someone who died of coronavirus, especially if it involves physical contact.

  10. So, big project that I was working on last week at work (and a few evenings outside of work...) is done.

So now I have a sore throat, am exhausted, and was running a 2 degree temp this morning.  It's down to only 1 degree now.

    *pops more vitamin C*

  11. We've been spraying Lysol like crazy up at work.  I'm actively working on not catching what the lady down the hall has.  Popping Vitamin C like crazy.  I have elderberry around here somewhere, I should probably find that too.  Working from home today.

Also if anyone knows what this cloudflair is that I did not put on my computer that may be connected with firefox that I don't have. I would love to know what it is. Thinking it came in on a windows update. It has changed the way my computer works and I am having a hard time fixing back the way it was. Gotta love windows 10

Are you getting a message that says Cloudflare when you try to visit some sites?  It's something that'll show up when they're overloaded (if they use Cloudflare - it makes things load faster and provides some security).  As far as I know, it isn't something you can really have on your computer.

Hmm...  Of course butter was salted to preserve.  I disagree to his ratios though, much more salt was used than he says.  Was. I also note that he does NOT mention another butter preservation method, butter crocks.  I grew up crocking.  Today it is too much trouble.  I also wonder if one can easily find butter crocks commercially.  For those not aware a butter crock is a bowl that is packed with fresh butter, then inverted in an outer crock which was water filled.  This sealed out the air and thus preserved the butter.  There was, and the memory is fuzzy, crock butter sold which had the water flavored, imparting some flavor to the butter.  Crocked butter was for raw butter, a real bed for spoilage.  It is not what you buy now, and while not as well preserved as the modern stuffs, crocking did help preserve for a short time.

They sell them at Bed Bath & Beyond, Amazon, and a lot of other places.

CG that might not be a bad thing.  Help on the way when you need it. DH needs that.

Yeah, there's a few stories running around out there.  Apparently one guy's Dad fell down while he was out jogging and it notified him and called 911, and because he had it set up where he could see where his Dad was located, he was able to meet them at the hospital.

I wouldn't have one of those separate ones either. Mine is built into my Kindle Fire.

I could see where they would have a place in a senior home. Alexa, call 911. Or Alexa, call my son...emergency. I'm not quite there yet though.

My Apple Watch will ask me if I'm ok if I fall down.  If you don't respond, it'll call 911 and give them your location.
