Wonderful news on your test TheCG! Did they tell you where to press your nose against your camel? That could be an important deTAIL.
I believe it said on its side, away from the wind.

Winds are supposed to be in ramping up to 50-70 mph through NM, from 11 am - 5 pm. DH & I have decided to wait another day. The dust storms in that area are deadly.
I’m hoping to make small Dutch apple pies & a couple loaves of bread.
Mom and I were driving to Arizona one time and googled "How to survive a haboob" because the wind and dust were getting pretty bad. Everything we found told you to press your nose into your camel to filter the air.
All our tests came back negative. We've still decided we're just not going to the big family Thanksgiving 2 hours away. Jury is still out on whether we'll go visit my parents.

Hubby has requested chicken-fried steak for Thanksgiving.
Family Thanksgiving has been canceled, as our family is getting tested tomorrow due to exposure to known cases and one of the other sections of the family has had known exposure.
Instacart brought us groceries earlier (left them on the porch for us to bring in). Hopefully our results are all negative and I can go back to work and to the grocery stores again after tomorrow.

They're still free today. Got them both. Thanks, Jeepers!

I think I saw about 3 packages at ours yesterday.
About a week ago, hubby was giving me crap about buying another pack when we still had "most of a pack" left. We had 7 rolls of a 12-roll pack. He doesn't realize that when I lived by myself, I was buying the Sam's packages and getting a new one once the first one got down to half. I don't like the possibility of running out of a toilet paper.

I know some of y’all have been having trouble finding lids. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not canning anytime soon. Do any of y’all need a couple packs of just the little disc part of the lid? They were all bought pre-COVID, so not much worry of them being the Chinese fakes.
Offer open to anybody who’s an active poster here - If more than one person says they want them by, let’s say Sunday afternoon, 3pm Central, then I’ll try to just divvy them up between y’all. If I’m not going to recognize your name...don’t bother.
If you’d like some, send me a private message. I have some wide and some regular. Maybe 4-6 packs, depending on if there’s anything else hiding in the cupboard.

My DH did for my folks today. Convinced them that neither should be carrying bags of groceries up those stairs.....not ever again! Shop if you want but don't buy more than 2 bags to carry! My mom agrees....then she forgets and buys more than a few things....
Back when I rode a scooter and had to limit the amount of stuff I could buy, I’d pop the basket off the back and take it in with me and use it as the shopping basket. If it didn’t go in, it couldn’t go with me. Would maybe having a designated bag (or basket if that would be easier for her) that she takes with her, sets in the cart, and uses for the amount she can get work?

If you have Amazon Prime, watch Pioneer Quest. It's fabulous. They basically send 2 couples into Manitoba to build a homestead and survive for a year.

I baked ahead a bit today, from a new keto cookbook. Chocolate peanut butter cheesecake brownies (mostly put into the freezer) and a recipe for rolls that I did in a muffin top pan to use as hamburger buns later one. They're tasty split in half with butter as well.

I read in a book set during WWII about saving the water from cooking potatoes to make soup with later. I guess it helps thicken it up and you don't lose the extra nutrition?

Someone from Denmark posted that they're under extreme lockdown right now - apparently there's been 12 cases there using mink as the vector, and they're worried that if it isn't stopped now, all the work that's been done on a vaccine will be worthless.

The Provident Prepper by Kylene & Jonathan Jones is free right now. No telling how long it’ll last, but...

Sean Connery died on Halloween.
This doesn't affect my plans for the day, but figured y'all might not have seen it yet.
I'm going to drink my coffee and plan out my baking for the day, then run do a quick run into town for Halloween candy to hand out and whatever ingredients I might need, then come home and bake.

Yesterday, I ate soup that was basically beef (the failed eye of round roast), celery, onions, and broth for breakfast and lunch and skipped dinner. I'd cooked it with carrots, but fished them out to lower the carbs.
Today, scrambled eggs with cream cheese and a bunless bacon cheeseburger, plus half a serving of lemon cheesecake fluff. Dinner will be cabbage & sausage baked in the oven, plus the other half of my fluff for dessert.
Tomorrow: Leftover eggs for breakfast, leftover burger and some cucumber for lunch, and skillet pizza (ie, mozzarella melted & browned in the skillet and topped with sausage & mushrooms) for dinner.
I think I want to dice up my zucchinis, salt them and let them drain a bit, then bake them with a light coating of shredded cheese until they're crispy. That might be Tuesday night.

Wanna know something shocking?
If I don't eat things that try to kill me or absurd amounts of carbs, I feel better.

Odds are, if we go anywhere for Thanksgiving, it'll either be Abilene (2 hours away) to visit some of hubby's relatives or Llano to visit my parents. For some reason, I doubt we'll go anywhere.
This is the time of year I start going barmy - last year, I was able to run away for basically an entire week over Thanksgiving down to the beach by myself and stay in a condo, and that helped tremendously. This year, that definitely isn't going to happen. I will have the second weekend in November to myself, so might try to figure out something on a smaller scale that doesn't cost much...

I've got to get mine done this week. I might aim for Monday or Tuesday, since it's supposed to be cold out. Tends to make it where fewer people get out.
I should go vote then, too...

Woke up at 2:30 am, gave up on going back to sleep around 3:30 am. Got up, got some dishes around, banged around enough to annoy hubby but not enough to get him out of bed. Got dressed about 7:30 and went into work for a few hours, left about 1:30 pm, came home, sat for a bit, then slept for 3 hours.
I still feel like I need a nap.
Oh, and my right wrist is killing me today. Started after I worked for a few house, but didn't do anything that would kick it off. I'm wondering if it's a delayed reaction to nightshades yesterday.

A 2 pound container from Hoosier Hill Farms cost me $21.99 a few weeks ago, if that helps.

FYI, picking stitches out of fleece is NOT fun because they sink way down in. Double check everything before you start sewing.

Also this - Vitamin C levels practically undetectable in the patients they were studying. Small study, but definitely worth further research.

When my son was in high school everyone had to take half a semester of cooking and half a semester of sewing. They all had to make a pair of shorts. Just pull ups with elastic at the waist. He picked out the material and along with some elastic, I sent it to school. I think it was skull and cross bones or something a teenage boy would pick out. He loved those shorts! When they got old and raggedy he used them like boxers to sleep in.
The next semester. They had to learn about running a household and doing a budget and basic child care. Very nice for a little township school with about 400 kids from K-12 in one building.
My older brother used to make shorts in high school as well. I think he called them "jams", but I don't know why. I think he also ended up adding pockets to his, but I'm not sure.

WHATCHA DOING TODAY?

Grandpa died on Christmas Day one year. My job was to rush to Mom's filing cabinet and see if Grandpa ever signed the documentation stating that Grandma's dementia was bad enough that she shouldn't be on her own.
