  1. @Mt_Rider you NEED Maui. That is just too much hard work for not much in return. Bad for both you and your DH health. Pot here calling the kettle black. :sEm_blush:

Don't feel bad about the car. Last winter I backed mine into the side of the garage. Bumper is still smashed in because I still don't have a ride to and from the shop. Whatever. It makes it easy to identify in a parking lot. Still can't believe I did that. It's a wonder the air bag didn't go off. You know my luck.

I have a small Amazon order to make. Among other things, I think I need some quart size canning jars for pie filling this summer. I really only like Kerr jars. A dozen wide mouth Kerr quart jars are $40.00. I wanted 3 cases. Some of the Ball jars aren't priced much better. Walmart had some Ball wide mouth quart jars for $17.00 a dozen. If they are still in stock, I'm going to bite the bullet and pick some up today. Wide mouth will make the sticky pie filling easier to dig out. In theory. I don't think they sell Kerr jars east of the Mississippi River. At least I have never been able to find them.

I didn't think I was ever going to use quarts again so I didn't buy any more when I had the chance.

BTW, I only knew HBA was 'health and beauty aids' because at one time I worked in a retail store. At the time, I thought everyone knew that...except for me.

  2. Oh my Annarchy, that is so beautiful! I love how you did that big tree. It looks so real. I wish I could do something like that. I have no artistic talent.  :sigh:

Thanks for posting your art work.

  3. Sorry you are ailing Littlesister. Don't fight the rest. It will help your body recover.

Mt. Rider, I can't imagine that much snow. Well, actually I can. But it's been a long time since we've had that much. It is pretty and serene though. Especially if you can stay inside and snuggle under a quilt, with  a good book, a cup of something warm in front of a crackling fire. Someone has been watching too many old movies. In reality I'm usually out there with frozen extremities, runny nose, sweating through too many layers of clothing trying to shovel a path so Amazon can get to the door.   :D

  4. Glad you are okay Necie. I was concerned about you when I saw Fort Wayne and also Berne were under a warning.

It was south of me too here in Ohio. But it was in Muncie which is getting too close to my family down there in Rush County.

  5. I forgot to mention that when I was searching for window screen clips, Lowes had ALL of their electrical wire padlocked up. Nearly half an aisle worth. Shortages? Copper?

And Walmart had their ENT stuff behind plexiglass but it wasn't locked...yet. That was new since about a month ago when I bought Debrox there. What really stumped me was the shaving stuff. Everything concerning shaving from electric razors, razor blades, disposible razors, hair clippers and even shaving cream was locked up. In the next case were pregnancy tests and condoms and OB/GYN stuff. I kinda get that but disposable razors and shaving cream? We aren't in a particular high crime area here. Probably the new look for the future I guess. They have a new section set up for those locked cases and beauty items, like make up and hair stuff, with a register right there. It serves about 4 aisles. Not my area. I was just walking through to see what was back there.

HBA was decently stocked. I think northeast Ohio must have gotten a huge shipment of HBA stuff because our Dollar Tree is very well stocked in that area too.

I'm going today to get some more Curad flexible bandaids. I had some for well over 5 years and they went through my epic flood and they still work great. Still sticky and flexible. They didn't get wet but the house was VERY damp for a couple of months. Mousture was literally dripping down the walls and windows.

Speaking of...Dollar Tree is closing nearly 1000 Family Dollar stores. No locations disclosed yet. Rat infected warehouse and violent crime and theft cited.

    Incase I threw anyone off...

    ENT = Ear, nose, throat

    OB/GYN = women stuff

HBA = health and beauty aids

  6. Lots of tornado activity in the Midwest. Especially around Illinois, Ohio and Indiana. Stay safe out there.

I've been watching it on Ryan Hall Y'all.

  7. Thank You!

Son needs a stress test and a colonostomy. Joy. If it ain't one end it's the other.

Colonoscopy. Not colonostomy. I can't cross it out in this phone. For now, it's just the test. Crimony.

  8. I wasted a trip to the bank. I thought you had 10 days before and 10 days after, grace period before a CD matures. Nope. Only 10 days after. Mine is due tomorrow. Yet they keep sending me emails that it's about to expire. It's only 13 months old so there probably isn't much of a change.

I aced my drug test. :D  Everything was negative. They tested for a lot of stuff too. They sent results to me before the doctor. He has to see them then he will send the prescription for ambien in. I did get the new BP med though.

I spent 30 min. on hold at my Indiana bank because in the 5 years I've been there I have never been able to access my account on line. They have to do my banking for me. I don't like anything about that bank but Key Bank isn't over there.

Then I was on hold for over 55 min. with India trying to get my cable TV canceled. After 55 min. the call was dropped. Other than the obvious aggravation, she had to come on every 2 minutes to tell me she is still there and wait for me to answer. Maybe tomorrow.

Then over 35 min. waiting to make a cardiologist appointment. Actually a echocardiogram. I go on Apr. 2nd. which I thought was pretty fast. I see a cardiologist on Apr. 25th. Assuming I don't have to wear a monitor before I see a doctor. It's cutting it pretty close to the time I want to move.

I have been on hold nearly all afternoon. Maybe I'll remember to call ATT early in the AM to see if it's any faster. I didn't mind the wait as much as the dropped call.

I got a load of paper to the dumpster and another 2 bags of trash to another one. Also all the bags of clothing donated to the Salvation Army. It was 12 bags by the time I was through. I might get one more.

I got the light shade things on the ceiling fan changed out and the filthy fan cleaned. And two small ceiling lights in the family room replaced. The dinning room table and chairs are all cleaned as is the divider thing between the family room and kitchen cleaned. Everything was disgusting.

I need to get a new pill splitter. Mine mostly mashes things and I have two different pills to split. And a little pill minder for the half one I have to take in the mornings. Also some Elmer's glue for the wallpaper downstairs and a burgundy magic marker for some wallpaper in an upstairs room that got scuffed up. And a kitchen trash can. Bunch of little things but inexpensive.

I got the rest of my fish meds yesterday. Two of the plastic bottles were slightly dented like there might be an oxygen absorber in them. Don't know but I'm not opening them.

Oh, and Mike the handy dude put my other screen in for me. He is a nice guy and even more chatty than I am. Seriously, there is another one.  I had to get the screen clips from Amazon.

Son is at his cardiologist now so I'm waiting for some good news from him.

  9. I'm so sorry you had to do that Miki. It wasn't your fault he was like that. You tried your best to bring him around.

But he couldn't keep biting your husband. Peoples safety has to come first. And it would have been a disaster if he had attacked anyone else. It was the right decision, but still hard.  :hug3:

Our weather is starting to warm up in the 60's. We had very little snow this year. The snow plow guy only came twice this year. One of those times I don't think it really needed it. Not complaining $$$

I'm getting p*ssy in my old age. I have repeatedly told the project manager to let me know the day before anyone comes. I have a life. So I got a call at 7:15 this morning saying Mike is on his way if I'm available. That made me mad. Like I'm supposed to be here 24/7 in case someone shows up. I told him sorry, I have banking to do that has to be done today and a prescription to pick up. Told him I'd be home at noon. Then Mike said the PM said I never answer my phone so he didn't know if I was home or not. LIAR. I always answer the phone if I'm able. If not I call right back. Same with texts. I showed Mike my phone proving that PM didn't text me until 7:15 this morning and at 7:18 I returned his text. If you want to make me beyond angry...lie on me. Mike said PM is always throwing someone under the bus. Anyway, I think they are all finished now. The bathroom sink caulk is still messed up but I'm going to do that myself. I should be able to do that with a tube of caulk. Can't look any worse.  :whistling:

  10. Euphrasyne, I get it about titles. We call second cousins our cousin etc. My G-son calls a few people his aunt and uncle because he doesn't have any blood related ones. I think they are really DIL's cousins or something or someone married in. It's all good.

Also, with them, it's more of a respect thing. They don't like for him calling adults by their first name unless he says mister or miss and then their first name. His neighbors were Mister Dennis and Miss Kelly.

I'm sorry you lost your aunt that you loved so much.  Of course you are sad.  :hug3:

  11. Went to the doctor today. Mostly just a blood pressure check. I complained about my BP and dizziness. I told him when I check my blood pressure my heart rate is always too high. I told him I'm sure I have POTS. He said he can't say for sure without proper testing, but he is pretty certain too. So, another med that should help with BP and rapid heart rate. It's one I was on a long long time ago so I know I can take it. A very low dose to start with. Metoprolol or something like that. Autocorect is not helping. Wonder if the pharmacy can get it.

I also complained about sleep issues. He finally prescribed my ambien! It is a controlled substance evidently and I had to sign a form saying I don't take any opioids, and that I would only get them from his practice and no other pharmacy than the one I use and he asked if I used Marijuana...:blah:. I had to give a blood test and a urine test. I'm totally clean. Fortunately I only need to take it occasionally.

All of that was the easy part. I had to use a mouse to sign electronically. I couldn't do it. You have to hold the mouse down and move it around while signing your name. Mouse was on a slippery desk. I know it took me over 10 trys to get something scrawled on there. All the while he was trying to make it work. I was so embarrassed. Finally something showed up on the screen and he said, "Good enough." :24:

He also gave me a number for a cardiologist referral if I want to see one. Suppose it will determine how long out an appointment is.

  12. I've had a couple of busy days. Ran errands yesterday. Went to Costco to check on my membership. I wasn't sure when it expired and DIL uses it. I have until the end of June. Went over to Best Buy for a laptop. Not sure why since my internet is out. But there it is.

My energy was fading fast but I went on in to Hobby Lobby.  I just wanted a little plant thingy for the bathroom insert. I had checked out Walmart and Meijers and all they has were big ones. I got a small fern thing on sale for $5.00 and a set of three tiny square bowls to put a bath bomb in for $3.50. They are probably meant for a dipping sauce? With those, the hall bathroom is complete. They were cheap but made the room look...sellable.

I didn't have much energy left and was having a lot of dizziness issues. But I needed to find a clip thing to keep a screen window in place. Lowes sent me on a wild goose chase and Home Depot had no idea what I was talking about. Guess I'll have to Amazon them.

By the time I got back toward home I thought I had enough umph to run in Meijers. I needed more dimmable light bulbs and a few other things. Mainly white glue. No Elmer's glue was to be found. Not even an empty place for it. Suppose I'll have to go back to Walmart for it. I need it for wallpaper repair. I did pick up some fruit. Our Meijers has the best fruit/veg around. Of course we don't have a lot of options. While out driving I noticed our Save A Lot closed down.

  13. Sorry your washer bit the dust. Your criteria for a washer sounds pretty much like what I have. Except mine is white. It's so big I have to scramble to make a load. I can't remember what it is. Probably either a GE or Maytag. I can't remember. I know it isn't LG or Samsung.  It will need replaced soon. One good thing about a laundry mat is things get done faster when you can use a couple of washers and dryers.

Mt. Rider, the value of the house has risen mostly because of a new furnace, hot water heater, sump pump and water softener and new glass block windows all in the basement. Plus I bought all new kitchen appliances, really nice ones. Everything else is new, like the floors and cabinetry. But because of the insurance company being so cheap, the quality isn't there. I told D-ex that it looks like a cheap flip in my eyes.

Having said that, the old carpet was badly stained throughout the house and 3 different colors and the kitchen and bathroom cabinets were very old and brown and chipped. One of the bathroom vanities was lime green. Not in a pretty way.

Now they are all white with brushed nickle instead if gold colored. It has a fresh coat of paint even though some of the nail holes from pictures are still there. And the posts on the porch, that were falling apart, are like new. The wood trim on the front of the house, that was peeling down to the bare wood, was painted. Two new bath surround inserts help a lot. The tub was iron and chipping and the shower stall was getting a crack in the floor. All of that is fixed now.

The major issues will be a crumbling driveway and really bad windows. I'm not willing to fix those. And no landscaping. I might do that. It would really help the curb appeal. Not sure. I'm thinking I won't have time to get it planted because of the weather before I move.

To be honest, this house was in pretty bad shape before. Old ugly fixtures and really stained up. And ahem, hoarded. With most of my stuff out of here, the place looks huge. In hind sight, I can't believe I lived like that. Somewhere along the line I guess I just gave up.   :sEm_blush:

I know I'll be okay. All I NEED is $22,000 for the mortgage and maybe $50,000 for the construction company if the insurance doesn't pay up. I will make over twice that much I'm sure. I just hope the interest rates don't rise so people can get loans and that the market stays active.

It's been one terrible year+ but I think it might turn out to be one of those blessings in disguise. I hope.

Wondering what the next recall might be. Seems to be becoming the norm these days.

Cinnamon. There are a lot of cinnamon recalls right now due to lead. Wish I could do a link but among other places, it has been recalled from Dollar Tree, Dollar General and Save A Lot.  A couple of other places that I'm not familiar with. Just Google cinnamon recalls. The recall is new, within the past day or two. There are six brands.

  15. Very nice camper!

I'm trying to not stress over the small stuff. I just want to get as much money out of the place as I can. I'm gonna need it. But you are right! When I list it, it is going "as is" because I'm not going to fix any more stuff. I'm not going to haggle over the price either. If it's within reason, I'm taking it.  I want gone.

  16. My first thought was geranium too!

Euphrasyne, OMG, I saw the second set of pictures but totally missed the first set. They are awesome. The smaller garden with your daughter, would be perfect for my grandson to plant in. He loves growing green onions. .  Your back yard is beautiful. I'm stealing the idea of those paver things around the trees. I have a rather large tree in my front yard where those retainers would look perfect. There is some sort of thing around it but nothing that nice.

I've noticed I've been missing a lot of posts lately. User error I'm sure. Please forgive if It seems like I'm ignoring posts. I'm not on purpose.

 for Jeeper's while the workmen are coming and going to finish off the details.  Few men are into details! Hmph!

Boy isn't that the truth! Most of my issues were because of lack of details. Sloppy work. Things like using clear caulk around a sink and leaving the bolts too tall at the bottom of the toilets so the little white caps wouldn't fit on. And power washing a mess the first guy made.  Easy fixes but they should have been done as part of the installation process. And the mess they have left is appalling. I wouldn't be as picky if I wasn't going to sell this place. I feel like everything I see, someone else will see too. All I see is money flying out the door.  IMO they should hire a woman to go around and check things out at the end of a job.  :D

The guy replaced the caulk around the sink. Did a crappy job. I really think I'm going to have to do that myself. He said the first guys used silicone and tried to paint over it. Silicone won't take paint according to him.  He did ease my mind a little bit though. He told me to not worry about all of the little imperfections in the walls (nail holes and dings) because kitchens and bathrooms are what will sell the house. Those little things had nothing to do with the reconstruction. Mostly where I had hung pictures etc. I was going to try to repair them myself.

I thought I would be in the house a few months earlier so I would have more time to work on things. But it's already March.

Whatever I get for the house sale, it will pay off the mortgsge and give me enough to either pay the mortgage down a little at the other house or do a lot of repairs. I'm leaning toward repairs. I want a forever home fixed up so I can forget about a house for awhile and get on with life.

I shouldn't complain. Whatever shape the house is in now is 100% better than it was even before the epic flood. I'm just weary and getting cranky-er.

  18. No we really don't know. We are at the mercy of someone else's idea of cleanliness. And hope they are not having a bad day while doing food prep.

I wonder if microwaving food makes it a little safer? Do microwaves kill listeria? It seems most recalls involve listeria these days.
