  1. Vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide as Disinfectants: by Judy Stouffer, B.S., M.S., SFO You can make your kitchen a cleaner, safer place and fight bacteria, without exposing yourself and your family to toxic chemicals that also damage the environment. You can use a simple safe disinfecting spray that is more effective than any of the commercial cleaners in killing bacteria. As a bonus, it is inexpensive! All you need is three percent hydrogen peroxide, the same strength available at the drug store for gargling or disinfecting wounds, and plain white or apple cider vinegar, and a pair of brand new clean sprayers, like the kind you use to dampen laundry before ironing. It doesn't matter which you use first - you can spray with the vinegar then the hydrogen peroxide, or with the hydrogen peroxide followed by the vinegar. The paired sprays work exceptionally well in sanitizing counters and other food preparation surfaces -- including wood cutting boards. In tests run at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, pairing the two mists killed virtually all Salmonella, Shigella, or E. coli bacteria on heavily contaminated food and surfaces when used in this fashion, making this spray combination more effective at killing these potentially lethal bacteria than chlorine bleach or any commercially available kitchen cleaner. The best results came from using one mist right after the other - it is 10 times more effective than using either spray by itself and more effective than mixing the vinegar and hydrogen peroxide in one sprayer. http://www.mercola.com/2001/jul/21/vinegar.htm ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."
  2. There used to be a forum dedicated to home health care and emergency medicines, etc. This is the best place I could think of putting this info in since the other place doesn't exist anymore. ========================== Duct Tape Wart Removal Works! A study released Oct. 15, 2002, shows that basic hardware store duct tape removes warts better than the common liquid nitrogen treatments used by most doctors. And another benefit besides being free or extremely low cost, is that there is no pain involved. The study, which was reported in the October issue of the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, shows an 85% success rate in comparison to 60% success for the freezing treatment doctors use. Patients in the study wore duct tape over their warts for six days. Then they removed the tape, soaked the area in water and used an emery board or pumice stone to gently scrape the wart. The tape was reapplied the next morning and the same six day process was used again. This same treatment continued for two months, or until the wart was completely gone. It is believed that an immune system reaction causes the body's natural defense system to attack the wart due to the irritation caused by the duct tape, said researcher Dr. Dean "Rick" Focht III of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He said other types of tape were not tested, and they are not sure if there is anything special about duct tape, which is a gray, heavy-duty, fabric-backed tape. Another doctor, Pediatric dermatologist Dr. Anthony J. Mancini of Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, reported that he uses standard over-the-counter wart remover along with duct tape in a nightly process. Wart remover is applied to the wart each evening, and then the area is covered with duct tape, which is then removed the next day for 4-6 hours, then the process is repeated again each evening until the wart is gone. http://archpedi.ama-assn.org/issues/v156n1...l/poa20075.html] This study shows that duct tape occlusion therapy is not only equal to but exceeds the efficacy of cryotherapy in the treatment of the common wart. Tape occlusion therapy can now be offered as a nonthreatening, painless, and inexpensive technique for the treatment of warts in children. ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother." 3. The stores started selling halloween candy in August, and they are pushing Christmas already even though we haven't even made it into NOVEMBER yet! What ever happened to THANKSGIVING?!?!?!?!?!? I think I will wait a while before I start watching the Santa Clause, etc. I only hope that the networks wait a little while too. ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."
  4. Your answers are correct. HOWEVER, your methodology leaves much to be desired. (Oopppppppppppppps! THAT is the teaher in me "coming out"). Let C=the number of cars Let M=the number of motorcycles C + M = 30 M = 30 - C 4c + 2M = 100 4C + 2(30 - C) 4C + 60 - 2C = 100 2C = 40 C = 20 M = 30 - C M = 30 - 20 M = 10
  5. I think I shall give the other geniuses here another 24 hrs to chime in. BTW-you Einstein's who already checked in---HOW did you arrive at your answer???
  6. When the sales manager at a dealership that sells cars and motorcycles was asked how many vehicles he sold last week he said, "We sold 30 motors and 100 tires." From this information, calculate the number of motorcycles sold and the number of cars sold. ------------------ Ready. Start. Begin!!! ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."
  7. Debbiele-are you talking about the musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'? It had some of the most wonderful and athletic dance numbers I have ever seen. Do you remember the dance sequence where they jumped up, on, and over the log????? ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."

    9-11

[shamelessly snitched from another site cause I thought it was an excellent idea!] I'd like to make a suggestion for all of us who are stirring around trying to figure out what to do with our emotion, sadness, fear, etc. etc. on this trying day... Today I dedicated my run to the victims of 9/11. I ran for the businessmen/women who ran for their lives that day, the men/women who loved to run but lost their lives, the people who were hurt and may never run again. I realized that my better health and fitness might be what saves me and/or my family or someone else should I be involved in something similar, which brought some real seriousness to my workout today. I'd like to propose that whatever our workout is for today, we do it honor of those whom we call heroes today because of their bravery and their strength {Personally-I'm going to go to the range and put some holes in a paper target) ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."

  11. I'm glad you found something you can live with. I couldn't do that diet cause any amount of carbs sends too much insulin racing around my system, and the insulin doesn't help the carbs get into the cells to be "burned" so it just does the other thing it does best-it turns the carbs into stored fat!!!!! I need a "ketogenic" diet to force my bod into burning fat for fuel instead of carbs, but I still have problems even making that work.! Soooooooooooooooooo, I eat low carb cause I don't get "hungry" (hunger pangs), cause I don't get sleepy, and cause I don't get "zoned out" like carbs do to me. BTW-be very sure that you keep the ratios that they recommend at the evening meal. And you're right about the insulin thing; it has something to do with avoiding a secondary release of insulin that takes place about 1 hour after ingesting food. ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."
  12. If I knew it would be the last time I'd see you fall asleep I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord your soul to keep If I knew it would be the last time I'd see you walk out the door I would give you a hug and call you back for one more If I knew it would be the last time I could spare a minute or two To stop and say "I care about you" Instead of assuming you would KNOW I do…. If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day, Well, I'm sure you'll have so many more, So I can let just this one slip away For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight And we always get a second chance to make everything right There will always be another day to say our "I love you's." And, certainly there's another chance to say "Anything I can do?" But, just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get, I'd like to say how much I care about you and I hope we never forget…. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike. And, today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight So, if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today? For if tomorrow Never comes you'll surely regret the day that you didn't take that extra Time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss - And you were too busy to grant Someone, what turned out to be their one last wish. So, hold your loved ones close today and whisper in their ear. Tell them that you love them and will always hold them dear. Take time to say "I'm sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you," or "It's ok." And if tomorrow never comes…You'll have no regrets about today http://210.192.106.2/sep11/index.html ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."

    Movin' On

If you live near a WalMart, go there and buy the WalMart edition of the "Rand McNally Atlas of the United States"! They have a listing in the back of all of their stores, including the ones that allow you to camp (park) in their parking lot overnight. Think of the money you could save by parking overnight for free!!! Of course saving money is dependent on NOT going into each store and spending a fortune. ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."

    Hi and intro!

  18. Oh boy-a ramp! I hate steps! Hope you have a traffic light to control all the traffic this ramp will generate. Hey you! Yeah, you! NO SKATEBOARDING ALLOWED on the ramp! Hahahahahahahahahahaha ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."

  21. ((((((Debbie)))))) It's almost like losing a (human) member of the family. Is that a pic of your kittie in your sig? We have 2 cats and a dog. Got the first cat prior to Y2K as a potential mouser. Got the second one cause my son found her caught in a bush outside of his workplace. Mr. Butterscotch (kittie #1) is more like a doggie- comes when you call him, begs for food, will eat out of your hand, etc. Bobbie (#2) is definately an outside cat, but not as wild as she would have been had she remained a stray. [ALL the animals are "fixed".] She comes home when she's hungry. ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."
  22. Visit this website and take the True Talent Test!!! You'll have to sign up, and they will offer to sell you something (did you expect anything different?), but, the test is VERY taxing-so be rested, and make sure you have some time before you start. Here are MY results: quote: Midnightmom, your true talent is verbal ability You seem to know how to pick the right words for almost every occasion. Beyond your ability to interpret information and articulate your points, you appear to understand the power and aesthetic appeal behind language. Your verbal knowledge can make you versatile in expressing yourself. And your skills in this arena also allow you to pick up subtle meanings behind what people say. These specialized communication skills can be of huge value in a variety of business and social environments. How do we know that your true talent is verbal ability? While you were taking the test, we calculated your responses to each test question, and noticed that, relative to others, you consistently answered questions that measure verbal ability correctly. ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother." 23. Lions My favorite all time song ever is "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by the Tokens. My first lion was the kind of ceramic which sits on the edge of the shelf, but the paws hang over. I put this on the box that contains the remains of my beloved poochie cause that's where she "sleeps tonight." Anyway, I just decided to make it a full blown collection and it has increased somewhat dramatically in the last year since I have become a "serious collector." ------------------ "Sooner or later everyone quotes their mother."
