If you are doing a meal, that is one thing, but just a party, that is different. Westbrook is right, just the trays are great and people don't expect a lot. I think I would add a fruit tray to that also. If you are doing a meal, then the BBQ is great and just have a couple salads, Baked Beans, veggie and fruit trays and cake. People really shouldn't expect you to go to a lot of work. Tell Carrie congrats for me. I wish her well in all she attemps to do in her life. ------------------

Good morning Lowlander, well, not sure what time it is at your home now. Well, I have two quilts to get made before Christmas for grandchildren, and I really want to get them done. Both will be 4 on their next birthday. The quilts I make have their names, their parents names, the grandparents names and the aunt and uncle names. Along with the birth dates of all. Then I also put the birth stone, flower and their zodic sign on it, and a few baby animals. The quilts are not just for the cribs though, they are large enough they will cover a reg size bed. Now, on top of that, I want to learn to cross stitch. I plan to do some things for the county fair for next year and want to cross stitch, embroidery, as well as paint on cloth and get some other things done for the fair. Then, I can use them or give them as gifts. This is my winters plans. It isn't so crafty, but I do a family news letter 4 times a year too and one is due out by the end of this month. ------------------

Well, whatever it was, he left things alone last night. I think the pepper in the food has been the answer. We don't have possiums up this far north so knew it wasn't one of them. We new it couldn't have been a mouse though, as whatever it was, it had eaten about 3 cups of seeds the first time it had cleaned the feeder out. It also had eaten about 1/2 cup of jelly. DH said it couldn't have been an owl, as whatever it was it had lifted a wood top form the feeder and taken the feeder from the iron post we had it on. He really feels it was a racoon. Anyway, no problems last night so maybe we have solved the problem. We will have to see what happens these next few nights to make sure though. ------------------

Just being able to be outside for a day. With all the humidity and it being so hot, I haven't been able to stand it outside. But, yesterday, it was sooooo nice, I was able to spend the day outside. We planted trees, bushes and mowed. Had the windows and doors open in the house too. Now this morning it is down to 45, but the humidity is way up there again. So, may not be able to be outside today. ------------------

Yes.!!! It has cooled way down. It was in the low to mid 70's and humidity waaaayyy down. I could breath outside. Right now, the temp is about 45 and humidity is way up there again. But, we still need rain. Had about a 2 minute rain on Sunday and before that we had had just a small rain during the past week. Not enough to do any good though. Yesterday, it was soooooo nice out that I spent the day outside. I mowed while DH planted a tree and some other things, then we went to town and did some shopping. After lunch, we planted 5 more trees and 4 bushed that we had gotten in June. So had a nice day and lots of fresh air. Had all the doors and windows open too, so aired the house out. After almost a month without being about to open the windows and doors, it sure was nice. How is your weather? ------------------

Another Emazing Genealogy Tip of The Day.: Create a Font Comparison Chart for Yourself If you are working with documents with old handwriting, sometimes a visual comparison chart can help you decipher the old handwriting. One way to create a homemade version of such a chart is to open your word processor, and type every letter of the alphabet in upper case, every letter in the lower case, and every numeral, separated with one or two spaces. Set your font size at 14 or 16 points. Then, copy and past your creation multiple times on the page. Next, select one block of the characters and make changes to the font face, using samples that are similar to the handwriting you are trying to read. For the past several nights, at least a week, we have had a visitor in the night. With the A/C running, the dogs don't hear anything outside. This visitor has been getting into the bird feeders and cleaning them out. We have several feeders and different kinds. We have 'Jelly' feeders for some birds, and they clean the jelly out as well as the sunflower feeders for the Goldfinches and other birds. We have put hot pepper in some of the feeders and that seems to make a bit of difference. Now, we are just wondering what animal it is that is doing this thing. The only things we can come up with is a racoon. Do any of you have any idea? ------------------

You welcome, Lois, glad I posted this. You know more about knitting than I do. I have only tryed to do a pr. of socks and that was sooo long ago, I wouldn't know where to begin now. Who knows, maybe I will try that this winter if I get other things done that I need to. ------------------

Ok, just how well did we all do? I know I sure didn't get many in, it has been so hot and the humidity has been up there too. I just don't get much done on those days. Therefore, I only have 6 miles in for last week. Next??? ------------------
