  1. I know there are a lot more sites out there Goosie, glad these will help you. Have fun making these things. ------------------
  2. You are very welcome. Glad you can use them. ------------------
  3. You are all kids. in just over 5 months I will turn the BIG 60. Just remember, you are only as old as you feel. Some days I feel OLD and other days I don't feel so old. If I remember right, it was the year I turned 35 and then again at 49 that bothered me. But, we just go on as if we aren't getting older and we will be fine. ------------------
  4. I brought you some pancakes, muffins and a coffeecake for your breakfast so you won't have to cook today. Hope things get better real soon. You just take care of you and your family. ------------------
  5. Looks like fun Cat, wish I could join you there. Thanks for posting this. I know you will have a great time there with everything there is. ------------------
  6. Surgery is one way to get rid of unwanted pounds, but it is a hard way, I think. Some people just can't lose weight any other way or have tried and then gain it all back. Here is a url for some information on it. http://www.bariatric.com/roux.htm My daughter had this surgery done in January this year and as of mid June had lost 70 pounds. She hasn't been able to weigh in at a meeting since. She has weighed on other scales, but wants to use the same ones each time she lets me know. She was up here in June, and she looks so good. It was sometimes hard to know what to cook and or how to cook for her, but, she never went hungry. She knew what she could and couldn't have and really stuck to it. One thing about the surgery, if you over eat, it won't stay down. You can only eat small amounts and you eat several times a day. Now, for the reason for our daughter having the surgery. She has lost weight in the past and regained what she lost plus more each time she went on a diet. Both DH and I have heart problems and diabetes along with a couple other medical problems. These things run in both sides of the families so she was concerned for her health. Like I said, if you can diet and lose weight, I think that is the better way to go. But, if you can't do it that way, then, there is the surgery. Some have little success with the surgery and others have great success with it. I guess what I am saying, is that each one has to do what they feel is the best for him/her, diet, or surgery. Just thought I would let you all know about this. I know I did post it some time ago, but the post is now gone. ------------------
  7. I've been here since Jan. or Feb. of 1999, but have never met anyone from here face to face. I do talk on the phone to one person here. Otherwise, we just post and sometimes use ICQ, Yahoo or e-mail others sometimes. We have in the past had a Christmas Ornament exchange and such. But, like I said, I have never met anyone from here in person. I seem to be the only one on here from MN, so not close enough to visit anyone else. One day though, I am in hopes to be able to get to see some of the people. ------------------
  8. Sorry I haven't posted before, but was unsure what to say. I do agree with Nana for sure. Make sure it isn't a physical problem and go from there. I have a daughter-in-law on medication for Bi-Polar. I have two grandsons on medication for AD__ whatever the other letters are. The Attention problem. Both boys are doing so much better now with the medication than they were before. I don't like the idea of depending on medication for this, but if that is what it takes, then that is what it has to be. Things are so different now than they were 30-50 years ago. The kids are going through a lot of stress that some of us never went through at their age. It is tough being a child or teenager now days. Please let us know how things go and what you decide to do. ------------------
  9. Dee, you have come a long way in this past year. You have set a goal and you won. Just by taking the first step a year ago, you did what a lot of people cannot or will not do. I am very proud of you and what you did. Just take it one day and one step at a time. I am one that needs to lose 30 lbs., but right now, for some reason don't have the will power to do it. I will see my dr. tomorrow and talk to him. I have done the low-carb diet years ago and lost on it. So, I know it can be done. That will be the diet I will go on when I go on one. Thank you for coming here and posting, you have encouraged many people to diet. ------------------
  10. Lynnie, there are so many different diets. You have to pick the one that is right for you. If you have any medical problems, and want to diet, please see your dr. to make sure it is an ok thing for you to do. Also, do it for yourself, not because of or for someone else. There are many diet pills out there on the market and most of them are NOT good for anyone. I know that the low-carb is a good diet, I have been on it in the past and lost weight. I have medical problems and so should be more careful how I eat. I will be seeing my dr. tomorrow so will again ask him if I can go on the low-carb diet again. Good luck and please feel free to post anytime you like. We count our miles walked each week so if you would like to add your miles, please do so. It doesn't matter if it is 1 mile or 10, this way we get to add them up and see how many we all did together. ------------------
  11. That is really great Dee. I sure do miss having a garden. Oh, I'll pick my jar up when I come to IA next month. ------------------
  12. Well good morning Ed, thank you for stopping by. Stop in more again some time. ------------------
  13. That is Great Ginger. I am so happy for you. ------------------
  14. No Momo, I didn't get it. Wonder what happened. ------------------ Just resent it. [This message has been edited by Snowmom (edited August 03, 2002).]
  15. Miki, if you go to the forum about the 'Cute little picture'thangs', MM will make one for you. But, it will be a while before she can get to it as she is in the middle of moving. Just tell her what you like for colors and if there is something special you would like on it. Such as a house, cat, dog, bird etc. Again, welcome to Mrs. S. ------------------
  16. Another Genealogy tip from Emazing. Read the Death Records Carefully read the death certificate and obituary for your ancestor for additional research clues. While some of the information included may be second-hand knowledge provided by someone without all the details, some or all of the details may corroborate information you have already obtained or point you to a geographical locale where you may seek additional proof. - George Morgan Hope this helps someone. ------------------
  17. Another Emazing Tip. Notable Women Ancestors All women are notable, and one of the best sites on the Internet for discovering information about female ancestors is 'Notable Women Ancestors' at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nwa/. Not only will you find interesting articles about specific women, you can submit biographical sketches of your own notable female ancestors. The Webmistress, Susanne 'Sam' Behling, also publishes a print newsletter containing research strategies for locating women ancestors, terminology, and fascinating stories that can help you understand the lives of your female ancestors and put them into historical context - George Morgan This is a very interesting site. You just don't know, you may have someone there. I do. ------------------
  18. Another tip from the 'Emazing Genealogy' tips. SCHOOL RECORDS Remember how your parents had to provide information about you, such as date and place of birth, as part of registering you for school? Many schools maintain their records forever, usually in some records retention facility. Registration, grades, yearbooks, and all sorts of other information may still exist. If you can determine the location of the school that your ancestor or relative attended, and the county it is/was in, chances are that you may be able to obtain copies of school records. Also, don't overlook colleges and universities your ancestor attended. Be prepared, however, to provide proof of your relationship in order to gain access to or copies of some of these records. - George G. Morgan Hope this helps someone. ------------------
  19. Another tip from 'Emazing' SUBSCRIBE TO A SURNAME MAILING LIST One method for expanding your research reach is to subscribe to a mailing list for one of your surnames. Mailing lists are composed of people who share an interest in a common topic, be it a surname, a country, a county or an ethnic group. You subscribe by sending an e-mail, and then you receive a copy of every e-mail sent to the whole subscription group. You can then respond to the individual or post a message to all the subscribers. The largest collection of surname mailing lists can be found at the RootsWeb site's mailing list page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/surnames/index.html Be sure to read their "About Mailing Lists" http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/#about and "How to Subscribe and Unsubscribe" http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/#subscribe for more information. - George G. Morgan Sometimes it really is a big help to be on the lists. Others who are looking for the same people you are share what they have. I have been on many lists. ------------------
  20. This is an 'Emazing Tip of The Day' tip. Locating Family Bibles It is important to make contact with and interview every living relative. As each generation dies off, their treasured possessions are distributed among the surviving family members. Your great-grandmother's Bible may now be a treasured family heirloom belonging to a second cousin. By making contact with other family members, you may be able to determine who has that Bible with all the births, marriages and deaths inscribed inside. You then may be able to persuade the current owner to make copies of the inscriptions or to allow you to view and study the Bible yourself. - George G. Morgan Hope it helps someone. ------------------

  22. Here are a few url's for different items you can put in jars. 23. Just found this url and thought I would post it for you. It tells about how many pounds of potatoes you need for a canner full as well as the time, etc. http://www.culinarycafe.com/Canning/Canning_Potato.html Hope this helps. ------------------
  24. Welcome as Moderator, Dee. Glad to have you be the Mod here. To have 7 generations in the same house is something though. This is something you can put down in your family history. We listen to books on tape while driving a distance or sometimes just going the 9 miles to town. I don't do a lot of reading, but, DH has a book in his hands whenever he has a few extra minutes. We bought the last 'Left Behind' book as well as bought it on tape. So have listened to 1/2 of it so far. ------------------
  25. I drive a 1994 Plymouth Voyager Mini Van. We bought it last fall so we could take a trip and take others with us. There were to be 6 of us going and ended up 4, but that was ok. We have a 1992 Plymouth Acclaim that we are trying to sell now. DH drives a Dodge pickup, not sure of the year, but think 1992 or 94. One of the best we ever had was a Plymouth station wagon. As you can tell, we stick with the Plymouth and dodges if we can. There are a couple pickups and a car, a Toyota, that needs work setting out back. We bought the Toyota for our #2 DS when he was going to college several years ago and he drove it until it quit on him, about 2 1/2 years ago. Now it sets here waiting for someone to get it fixed. ------------------
