  1. Let me see here, you ask for favorite thing to do. I have to say it would be when all of our kids and grandkids get together, and it has been 4 years since that has happened. I love to have the kids come who can and when they can come. We will be taking care of 2 of our grandsons from the 13th of this month until the 1st of Sept. So, we will have fun doing things with them. I love to work on genealogy, to see who my ancestors were, where they came from, and what they did. Travel, I love to travel, even though we don't get to do much of that. I like to visit places that tell of history. I love to watch the birds in our yard. We have many feeders and many kinds of birds. See, I can't narrow it down to just one. As for which season I like best, I like them all for different reasons. Then, they all have drawbacks too. Winter, with ice and snow, Spring, flooding in some places, Summer, tornado watches and such, Fall, the only drawback there is you know that Summer is over and Winter is coming. ------------------
  2. Cat, think you have to add a few years to that. I know how many, but if she wants you to know she will have to tell you. I have a DD in TX, she isn't married, but then, FL is a way from TX. ------------------
  3. We have come within a few miles of you a few times. We go on highway 35 when we go to TX to see our kids. One of the windest spots we incountered on the way to TX one time, was at the OK-TX border, information center. But, the information center was a beautiful place. ------------------
  4. Cat, just another 6-8 hours and you could come to my house. Just had to say that. ------------------
  5. Ok, one thing that makes me feel so down at times is the fact that all three of our kids live miles away from us. Therefore, we don't get to see them much. Two of the three are in TX. I/we haven't seen our #one DS for over two years now. Our DD brought up 3 of his kids with her in June when she came, but I miss having all of my family around. We haven't see our # 2 DS since June and they are about 2 hours away. Therefore, it is as easy for us to go as for them to come here. We just haven't taken the time to go. This means that we haven't seen them or the 3 grandsons since June. But, on a happier note, we will be babysetting with the two younger boys from the 13th of Aug. until the 1st of Sept. Another thing that makes me get depressed is the fact that we have lots of bills and I don't work out of the house. We live a distance from town, and I just don't like to drive any more than I have to and don't drive on ice at all. I would like to find something/someway to make money at home. You see, every other month, I have a pace maker check and each time, it costs close to $150.00. Now, when I get to feeling depressed, I just say, 'Ok, God, it is you and me, please help me to get over this.' Then I get up and start to do something different than what I had been doing. Also, at times I start thinking about people who are worse off than we are. People with a large family and miminum wage or on welfare. Ok, is this waht you wanted to hear? Who is going next? ------------------ [This message has been edited by Snowmom (edited August 11, 2002).]
  6. Thank you for posting this Di, it is very good. ------------------
  7. You are ok, Cat, just so busy you haven't had time to do the baking here. You need to have time for yourself too. When does school start there? I think it starts tomorrow for my grandkids in TX. Most schools around here won't start until the day after Labor Day. ------------------
  8. That is just great Mare, that was a great buy. Right now, Strawberries are $1.98 a lb. in the stores. You don't find fresh Blackberries or Raspberries in the stores at all, or at least I haven't seen them. I don't think there have been any Blueberries for a while, but there will be, but I am not sure what the price will be on them. I am sure the last time I saw them they were about the same as the Strawberries, or higher. ------------------

    Hello

Welcome to Mrs. S. Hillbillee, it is nice to see new faces, (names) here. Looking forward to your posts. Well, now, there are Lee's in my family too, my ggrandmother was a Lee. Ok, since Becca is in a Chocolate mood tonight, here is a Chocolate Cake and we just have to have Chocolate Ice Cream to go with it. ------------------
  10. Well, Beb, I don't know if she will get here to Mrs. S. She hasn't been on line for close to 3 weeks now. She has the internet, but either she just isn't up to it, or no one can take the time to help her. I know it is hard for her to read and type, but it is good for her too. Sometimes you know she is happy and other times you aren't sure if she is or not. If she really laughs, you know she if for sure. But, she was really surprised to see some of the people there last night. My sister and I had prayed for the rain to hold off until after the party and God kept us all nice and dry until just before we left. It was sprinkling when they took Kaye back inside. The rest of us got a few more drops on us. But, He did keep the rain away until after we had eaten and put things away. Now, for that painting, lets see just how much we can do Beb, Do, Spot and Dad so we can really surprise Brigie. I have a Christmas Cactus that blooms from just about Thanksgiving time until around Easter. I don't have many flowers at a time, but there is usually about 15-20 when it is at the best. My cactus is about 50 inches from side to side, when stretched out. Well, you all have a good day today and talk to you tomorrow sometime. ------------------
  11. Aww, Momo, no way would I ever do something like that. At least not where everyone in the town could see me if they passed by on the road. And, there were NO lamp shades, and the tables were not the kind you can dance on. I will be sure to tell her you all said a belated Happy Birthday when we see her next week. ------------------
  12. We all have days we feel like crying all day and then we have days that we have no desire to cry. ((((Darlene)))) ------------------
  13. We had a picnic Birthday Party for my niece Kaye last night. Kaye turned 35 so we thought it would be nice for those of us who could to take something in and have our meal with her. They have a gazebo where there are a few tables and chairs, also some benches around the edge. So, we had our meal with her there. For those of you who don't know, or don't remember, Kaye had a stroke almost 2 1/2 years ago and is paralyzed on her left side. This was her second stroke. She is living in a nursing home now. Her mother and dad are both in heaven now. She has only one brother who is married with his own family. Old Pine and I try to go in once a week to visit with her and we also take something for her to eat, as she does not like the food at the nursing home. She is also on a feeding tube so if she doesn't eat, she still gets her vites, etc. ------------------
  14. In the circle of prayer. \o/ ------------------
  15. You are your girls are still in my prayers. (((((Lynnie and girls))))) \o/ ------------------
  16. Summer colds are the worst, reci, you take care of yourself. Sure sounds to me as if Darlene had a lot of experience with putting ice cubes in gravey. Oh well. ------------------

    Oh Ed

That is bad, now even fishing is dangerous. ------------------
  18. Oh, wow, deep fat fried chicken feet, just what everyone loves. I know I wouldn't eat those either. How are things going and when do you expect to be back, Homey? Keeping you and DH in my prayers. ------------------
  19. Hi there you gals, I have been sooooo busy today. We had a surprise Birthday Party for my niece who is in the nursing home this evening. A picnic, so had to get things made for that today. I made potato salad, and cut up two watermellons and a cantalope, and cleaned some grapes to take. So, see along with doing a load of clothes and such, I was busy. Sure seems like I did something else too, but now am so tired I don't remember. Guess it is bed time here. I do hope the painting gets done, I wouldn't send my DH to help unless you wanted a new carpet. He has a habit of spilling the paint. Naw, he did it one time on OLD carpet and another time on the wood floor which was getting new carpet, so didn't matter at all. School, wow, it sure won't be long before it starts, in fact, I think our grandkids in TX will start next week, I'm not sure, but think that is the date. Hope all goes well with your playing in the dirt, Brigie. ------------------
  20. Also, if you put a slice of bread in an airtight container with the Brown Sugar over night, it should make the sugar soft. Be sure to take the bread out in the morning. ------------------
  21. That is very interesting Momo, and that is something you should put down in the memories of the family. I wonder, if the men or women really thought about their anniversaries then the way we do today. My parents were married 6, 16, 26; June 6, 1926. Now, the first 3 granddaughters were born on the 6th, 16th and 26th of Feb. Another for you is that my parents 14th grandchild was born on their first grandchilds 14th birthday. Who else has something like this to share with us? ------------------
  22. Wow, pizza, that is one of my down falls. I don't like just any kind, as I can't eat much spice so I stick to the milder toppings. Beef, pork sausage, or ham/Canadian Bacon these are good. I also once in a while eat a Toco Pizza, but don't put the spice sauce on the top. Think there are some kids and older kids who could almost live on Pizza. Now, to the people years ago, they also ate a lot of lard and butter. That is what they had and so they used it. If they were lucky and had hens, they would have eggs too. Man, and now we are told we shouldn't eat any of these things. Some of the best pie crusts are made from lard, have any of you used lard for them? I don't myself, I use Crisco, but I don't make many pies either. ------------------
  23. Thank you for the update, Becca. Glad to hear news is good. Will keep them in my prayers. ------------------
  24. Hi DannyLou, and welcome to Mrs. S. Nice to meet you. ------------------
