  1. Sounds good, keep us informed. Hope things go well for you. ------------------
  2. Goosie, I don't have time right now, but after the grandsons leave, I will see what I can find for you. I think most of the lists are in states. So, if you know what state your family was in at the time, or what state he inlisted in that would be a place to start. My great-grandfather was living in one state and inlisted in a different state. Are you able to read on the headstone the state that the unit was in? If so, go to google.com and put 'Civil War list for', and add the state. Then you should be able to come up with something. I hope this helps. Sorry about this, but just came on line to check the e-mail and see what was new in here. Just need to get going, as we haven't eaten breakfast yet. Then, we need to go to town and do some shopping. Hope you have a great day and hope this has helped a little. ------------------
  3. Happy Birthday Beb. Hope you had a great day. Just came in for a few minutes. Now I am off to read a bed time story to the two grandsons. Night everyone. Will try to get back one of these days again. Take care now. ------------------
  4. Welcome home Wheeler, sorry about being so late with this, but I haven't been on much lately. We have two grandsons with us until the first of next month. So have been entertaining them most of the time now. ------------------
  5. Is that all the time we have before Chirstmas? Wow, guess someone needs to start thinking fast. Thanks for the sites, Becca. To be honest, I have a lot of my shopping done already. But, will have things to get later on. Also, have the two quilts to do for the youngest grandsons. I know, they should be done, but they aren't. Do have them started though. That is what counts. ------------------
  6. I collect: Salt & Pepper Shakers Postcards Plates from different states, or places Refrigerator Magnets Little spoons from states, other places, or people on them. Teddy Bears and other stuffed animals Candles and candle holders Pictures of family Genealogy information I need a room just for what I collect, but don't have one. ------------------
  7. I came on this morning to look for a Playdough recipe and found this site. At the bottom of the forum, you will see where you can go to the starting page. I took a quick look and think it might be of help to some of you. Wasn't just sure where to post this, so posted it here. ------------------
  8. Madkat, how about making toss pillows and using them as a removeable case for them. ------------------

    Am I back?

Hi there Shepherd, nice to see you again. ------------------
  11. Happy Birthday Nana, sorry I am late, but with the two grandsons here I haven't been on line much. Hope you had a great day. ------------------
  12. Morning everyone, yes, I know I didn't get on yesterday or Monday. So will give a little update now. Sunday afternoon we went to a picnic given by the company that DH works for. When we came home, everyone took a short nap. We then took them for a ride and went to a county fair, about 28 miles away, so they could take some rides and do something fun. We saw some cows, horses, sheep and pigs. We got there almost to late though as some of the things were closing down. Sounds like they didn't have a good turn out this year. I think the weather had a lot to do with that. They had a large pig alone and people were to put a guess on what it weighs. There was a fence around the cage it was in and the youngest grandson was going to climb over the fence and get a closer look, but we put a stop to that. Monday DH worked and we played. I had bought some water paints and the boys enjoyed making pictures. They played with clay, colored and played with toys. Tuesday, we had to go to Fargo for my pace maker checkup. The boys had books along so they had something to do on the road. They also napped in the van. While we were at the hospital-clinic, the boys colored so that kept them busy. They had a 35 or more fish tank there so the boys were able to watch the fish swim too. We did a little shopping and then stopped at Wal-Mart that is about half between home and Fargo. Of course that is where we spent close to an hour. The boys as well as Grandpa and I were very tired by this time. We did get home by 9:15 though. I think it is more tiring to travel than it is to work at home. I am feeling much better now so feel that I am over that virus that took me by surprise. Thank you for all your hugs & prayers. ------------------
  13. Just to let you know I am still around, I haven't been able to read or post much, but wanted to do this post tonight. Hi to any newbies, and hope everyone is doing ok. Please know I think of all of you a lot, even though I am not able to post now for a while. Good to see you here SCM. How have you been, and how are you doing with your genealogy? Last Sat. I woke up with a sore throat but it went away. On Sunday I had a sore throat all day, so I thought I would see the DR on Monday, as my throat was still sore. I guess it is a viral, that is going around according to the Dr. I couldn't believe it, by Tuesday I had a head ache along with a sore throat, it continued Wed, and Thurs., I do feel a bit better, but of all the times for me to get ill. DH had Thursday and Friday off so I slept all of Thursday morning and part of the afternoon. I let him take care of the boys. I feel much better today, but still sound a bit rough and have a small head ache yet. The boys have been very good, they do take naps in the afternoon so that helps me to be able to rest a while when they are. The weather is not very good now, it is cool, damp and windy. We have had rain just about every day. They have a place outside that they are allowed to dig and now it is mostly mud. So, today, we will do some coloring, and other fun stuff. We have several children movies and a lot of children books, so yes, I will be doing more reading. I read to them when they go down for their nap and at bed time. I think it is very important that they have a little time to relax before sleep. Last night I read a story that was in an old school book about a little boy, little girl a mom and dad. I guess that was a BIG mistake. I ended up letting the boys get up to watch a little part of a movie so they could take their minds off mom and dad. The oldest Prince was very upset and was crying, he misses his mom and daddy. So, guess we need to see if we can see Daddy when he has his days off. I have to go to Fargo next Tuesday, so will see if Daddy can meet us there if he can't come up before then. Mom and Daddy both called this evening so the boys were able to talk to each of them, I think this will help. Well, think I better get this posted or it may not get in for another day or two. Take care everyone and I will try to read and do a post sometime Monday or Tuesday. ------------------
  14. (((((Deblyn)))) We are all here for you whenever you need us. ------------------
  15. Been there done that. I have had 'A-typical cells' at least 2 times and they went in there and took care of it. So, there is no problem now, just had pap done in April. The first time must have been about 15 or so years ago. ------------------
  16. Momo, that would be 1/3 of a mile. But, I am sure you did house work and that counts for a mile each hour of work that is done. Stairs are 12 round trips = 1 mile. I bet you really have put in at least 3 or 4 miles this week. I'm sure everyone could put down at least 1-3 miles a week if they thought about it. Have a good week now everyone. ------------------
  17. This is such great news, Ginger. Congratulations to you and to Ellie Mae. So happy for you and Ellie Mae. Now, where to put the trophies. Aww, they have to be where everyone can see them. ------------------
  18. I brought this back to the top to let you all see it. Also to let you know that you can print the book out. ------------------
  19. Two of our grandsons, ages 5 and 3 will be coming today to spend the rest of Aug. with us. Therefore, I don't know how much I will be able to come on during that time. Just want you all to know, if you don't see me for a few days, I haven't forgotten you, just that I am busy with the boys. ------------------
  20. That is soooo good Di, thank you for posting it. ------------------

    WOW

You are so right, Becca. This was the first site I ever posted on, so it is like 'home' on the net. ------------------
  22. Good morning everyone, I did this once and it didn't work so am doing it again. You are welcome for the update on Kaye. She like the rest of us has her good days and her bad days. I may not post much in the next 2 + weeks, as we will have two of our young grandsons here until Sept. 1st. So, everyone needs to keep the posts coming. You all be good and don't work to hard. Hope your painting gets done, Brigie. Have a good day everyone. ------------------
  23. Good morning ladies. Hope you had a good night. We had storms, so I didn't sleep the best. But, I brought some warm muffins anyway. Brigie, how is the painting going, is it done yet??? About Kaye, she had her first stroke at the age of 26. Her blood pressure was high and it caused a stroke, the stroke caused her kidneys to stop working. It also left her with bad eyesight. One eye is still not good, but she sees from the other one. She was on dialysis for a few years then received a kidney transplant. The night she had the second stroke, she had driven about 200 miles to take a friend to the air port in Minneapolis, St. Paul area. On her way back she ran into a snow storm, it was mid March. She was only able to drive 30-35 mph for the last 30 or more miles. She stopped at our house and spent the night. She said she had a head ache, so I gave her something for it. When I went to wake her up, she couldn't get up. We called the ambulance and they took her to the hospital. From the one hospital, they took her to Fargo, ND to the hospital. We feel it was the stress of the driving that caused her to have the stroke. There would have been a lot of eye strain and just stress with 10 inches of snow and not being able to see the road good. She has times she is very sad, and no one can fault her for that. But, most of the time she is ok. She talks but sometimes she has to repeat things for me to hear it. Oh, yes, the transplanted kidney failed too so she is back on dialysis again. She does not like the food at the nursing home so eats very little of it. Therefore, they have been feeding her by a tube for several months now. That is why we take something in when we go each week. Kaye's mom was my oldest sister. So, I guess I am almost like a mother to her. In fact, she sent me a 'Mother's Day' card that said that very thing. It was an e-card. She has been on line for several months but she just doesn't get on line much. I am not sure if it is because she doesn't ask or if they are so busy they don't have time to help her. Her eye sight is bad so when I write to her on line, I make sure it is in large print. Well, you all have a good day now. ------------------
  24. Come on everyone, even if it was only 1 or 2 miles. They all count and they all add up. I only got in 5 miles last week. Next. ------------------
  25. I'm not sure if this belongs here or in a different forum. Last Friday, there was a funeral held for a little 6 years old girl. She lived next door to one of my nephews. This little girl had been upset with her older brother, so she went out onto the frontage road and laid down in the middle of it. The road is shaded by a lot of trees and the little girl had dark clothes on. The driver of the car that killed her didn't see her until it was to late. I guess, from what my niece said, they played out there a lot and my niece said she had scolded them several times for going out there. I have no idea where the parents were at the time of the accident. This is so sad, and it could have been prevented if the parents had been in control. Then people wonder why we need fences to keep the kids as well as our pets in our yards. I don't know the family, but will be praying for them and I ask that you pray for them too. Thank you in advance. ------------------
