  1. All of the projects on America Sews are published in her books, so you might try at your local fabric store. Usually I see them at our independent stores, not Joann's fabrics. Husqvarna Viking has a website that has a link to America Sews also, you might try there.

  2. Good Morning Everyone. Haven't posted much (or even been in to look around) in a couple of days. Decided to bake goodies for my FIL for Christmas. He has such a sweet tooth and doesn't really need anything, so I baked five different types of cookies for him. I'm going to do a couple more batches today and then send them out. It is snowing here this morning. Estimates are for about 3 inches.

On a sadder note, last night at about 10 pm my hubby and I were watching tv and heard what sounded like fireworks, loud popping noise. Then we heard a big boom. Hubby looked out the window and our neighbors garage was fully engulfed in flames. Sparks were flying all over the neighborhood. He owns a carpet business so the booms were chemicals he had stored in the garage. The entire neighborhood went out to watch and we just stood there and watched as the garage went, and then the house went. We watched until the roof caved in and then we came home. We were all thankful that yesterday it rained all day and at the time of the fire it was snowing. It is so sad. The fire dept was there, but really looked incompetent. That is sad too. The homeowners were at home, but were able to get out before getting hurt, but they have lost everything. Pray for them. I tried to sleep last night, but kept waking up to glowing images of that house on fire.

    Homey,

Read in another forum that you are on your way home. Have a safe trip.

Everyone else, have a wonderful day.

  3. Morning Everyone. I brought blueberry muffins and hot cocoa. It is very cold here. We still have snow, but at least now it is only on the grass and the roads are clear. I have to travel downstate today for a funeral so I hope the weather holds off. They are predicting more snow, but not as heavy and wet as yesterdays. I think Unikemom is the best weatherperson I know....

I hope everyone has a blessed day... enjoy yourselves.

  4. No snow here. No rain here. Just fog and cold. I have put up some of my decorations. I have lights trimming my windows, wreaths in all of my windows, Christmas doilies, but I still have a lot more to do. I usually don't put the tree up until just before Christmas. Our house is just to small. I did bring in "snorning santa" to tease the cat with. She likes him. She also likes the fake green pine branches from my wreaths. She just curls up and goes to sleep in them. Its so cute.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Me, I'm at work for the next few hours, but then I plan on doing some decorating again.

  5. Karen, I'm sorry your day was so rough. We will always be here for you. I sure hope everything works out.

Our day was much calmer that expected. Because of the snow storm my family wasn't able to make it up for dinner so hubby and I had to polish off the meal by ourselves. We did do a pretty good job, but with a 16 pound turkey, a ham, 2 pumpkin pies, apple johnny, and all the other trimmings we really had a large job ahead of us... now we have left overs for a month

  6. Yup, I'm full. We wound up with 8.5 inches of snow. The roads didn't get cleared until after noon so my family wasn't able to come up for dinner. It was just too dangerous. That meant that hubby and I were alone with 2 pumpkin pies, apple johnny, a 16 pound turkey, a ham, and all the other trimmings.... yup, I'm full.

I did go shopping today. I waited until about 11:00 though. I was mistakenly hoping that the crowds of people would have thinned a bit as all the specials ended at noon... nope. They were all still there. I did finish my Christmas shopping though and I did get some good deals. The mall is 20 miles from home and in between I counted where 8 cars/trucks had went into the ditch after the road was plowed so I guess it was a good thing that my family stayed home.

  7. Our snow total is about 8 inches. It has stopped for now. I spoke to my mom and we aren't sure if they are going to be able to come up now. It is 100 miles by expressway. She is blind in one eye so she does not do a lot of driving and prefers to drive when it is nice. I just checked weather.com for her area and it is still snowing there, so hubby and I might be alone with our ham and turkey.

  8. Happy Thanksgiving Everybody.

Just some of the things I am thankful for, God above and his undying mercy, my wonderful hubby, a loving family, a good job, good health, friends, a fluffy cat who is trying to get in between me and my computer screen this morning, hehe, and all of you. Thank you for letting me be apart of such a wonderful group.

I hope your Thanksgiving is blessed and wonderful.
