  1. Jeepers, I know around here copper is high priced but I have to find an outlet to sell it.  The other stuff that I can't sell for natural gas I will give to DH's friend if he ever comes. Otherwise I might just try to sell it in a yard sell. But it would have to be someone that knows what to do with it. So that is iffie to get rid of.

  2. Mt. Rider, I am so glad this doctor is working out for you.   she will get you straight.

Went to Feed and Seed today.   Bought a lot of stuff.  2- 40lb bags of cow manure, fertilizer, plant food, veggie. plants, a blueberry bush to replace the one I had to dig up because I couldn't get the 3 wild trees that grew into it. Lemon drop plants, seeds and a few more items.   I am all set now to start planting.

Will be working in garden in a little bit.  Need to head up street to Taylors hardware and garden to see if they have any bone meal. Feed & seed said they had not been able to get any. Just hope they have some. If so I will get 2 or 3 bags as I don't know what is going on with that.    I also got some rabbit deterrent. Hope it works.  Still need to make a trip to Lowe's.  No rain so far. I think the weather report has changed. But it is coming and I want to get my seeds planted before the rain starts.

  3. Jeepers, I am the same way about air conditioning. I can set mine on what I want and then just keep it shut off and open windows. My GS loves the cold and if he touches my air conditioner again he's in big trouble. I woke up in middle of night last summer freezing as he turned it down to 64 one night after I had gone to bed. If he does it again I am going to turn it off and shut it down at the breaker box. That should do it.  When I do need the air conditioner, It is usually kept at 75. That for me is comfortable in 90 plus degree weather.

I am sore and my right arm is killing me. Yes, I over did it again. :busted:  Advil tonight and a hot shower. Going to Feed and seed tomorrow. Making a list of what I need. It is suppose to rain tomorrow. So will do some garden shopping.

  4. OK, I goofed. It was 2 feet one each side of garden and one foot on end. MM, I plan to use some of those branches for the big pots I have. I cut off a lot of low branches on 5 trees. One trees.  2 on side yard and one in front yard. The other 2 trees are on each end away from the garden but some branches were hanging over 2 ends of the garden. Now I will have more sun there.

I just quit for the day. I am tired.  My git up and go got up and went. I need a nap but to late now for that.

  5. MM, my computer is a laptop and the keyboard is built in. I can't disconnect the keyboard. But I have cleaned the keys out. The computer is very old. I just need to buy a new one but just can't do that right now.

  6. OK, I must be nuts. I just made work in garden harder. I extended the garden by 8 inches. 4 inches on each side and 4 inches on one end. Then I cut down a lot of tree branches to get more sun on the garden.  More seeds to plant and a bit longer rows. Now I have to clean all that out. But it will be worth it.

  7. Mt. Rider, I just went out to work in yard and saw the label on the handle.  It was not from Lehman's but from YardX,com. A picture of it will come up and you could order one from there. It cost $69.99 now but I paid much less several years ago. I think you can also buy it on Amazon now but haven't checked.

  8. All my ceilings are painting white but the walls are a color. I might just paint the whole bedroom white. Ceiling needs painting anyway so all white might work. I do like my walls to be a color but either I paint the walls and ceiling and hire someone to paint the trim or see how a room with all white walls and ceiling would look on a very sunny room.

  9. for both DH's for VA and Mt. Rider.

All the food sounds good.   I made lemon turnovers to share.

We went back to being cold again. Low high 40's to low 50's at night and in mid 50's to mid 60's during the day. Getting warm enough to get back outside again to work the garden.  Hoping now we won't have another freeze but thinking we had the last one already.  So still hot tea to go with our goodies. To cold yet for lemonade. I can cook up a nice batch of fried chicken to go with that BBQ

  10. Jeepers, I agree 2 solar generators would be great, 5 is a sure guarantee. Keep one charged at all times.

I have some solar panels in attic still in box. I need to get those out to see what I need to do. Need a battery for it though. I have 3 batteries in garden shed 2 are car batteries with one being almost new. Need to charge them up. There is a smaller battery that DH bought I don't know what he bought it for. It is a very small battery maybe like a motorbike type battery. Had to be for something he has in garden shed. It is still in the box. I have a lot of things around here that he had that I need to figure out what it is for. already have some of it figured out but still more to go. The rest of it will be a huge challenge. But I will get it figured out. Found the pole to shut off the main water line at street.  He had a lot of copper pipe and things for working with natural gas and I don't know what to do with it.

In the attic is where a lot of my emergency supplies are. I have a wonder oven i had forgotten about.

Mt. Rider, I know I had ordered it online and I think it was from Lehman's. I will check it out and try to get a picture on here. But it is a long handle and one end has a rounded type blade like a hoe, and is very sharp and on the other side of that is like a rake but the prongs are a bit further apart than a rake. That thing is a dream to cutting through grass and other things. I bought it a few years ago. So hoping I can find it online again. It is two tools in one.

  11. Miki, I hope peanut butter gets better with your new treatment.    Do you have Dominion Energy?  I have had a few friends that now has the smart meter and they said their bill went up by around $200 a month. Seems strange that some people's didn't go up and others did. I can't say how mine will be till it is all said and done. But my bill right now even with air condition is still low.

I need to go to T-Mobile To check on their internet. I am now paying $80 for Spectrum internet and T-Mobile is $50. I have the T-Mobile phone and it is $50 a month. They don't go up on their prices. I have been checking into the internet and everyone that has it said they love it. No issues with it. So need to head down there. Going to be raining starting tomorrow so will go on a rainy day as I am saving the good days to work in garden.

  12. For $10,000 I would buy a solar generator. I have a whole house one but it is natural gas and an EMP would take that out. The solar one would keep freezer and fridge going. Not worried about lights. I have ways for that. oil, solar and candles. I just had the wood stove put in but would use some of the money for more wood and propane. The well has an electric pump but also a hand pump. I already have a berkey with lots of filters. I have been buying up things for car so money would come in handy for that. New battery, oil and filter, air filters, antifreeze, new tires that could stay in garden shed till needed.  More gas cans and gas for car. A way to EMP proof the car also. Been looking at things for that. that might have just finished off the $10,000. But if not, I would buy more batteries and oil for oil lamps.  I did get lucky when I cleaned out garden shed. I found 7 bottles of lamp oil and I thought it was all in the other shed. I am thinking DH must have been buying it and putting it up in garden shed. I do have some oil and 3 filters for car already but need more oil. I have 2 5 gallon containers now. I would also buy a new tiller as mine is electric. Though I don't think I can now maneuver a gas one. Not strong enough to handle it now so gave it to DD and SIL. But I do have a handy tool that works really great on tilling up the garden by hand. I use it a lot. I think if I remember I got that from Leman's online.   I have a cartload of matches also along with the flint to start a fire.

  13. Becca Anne, I am worried about the painting as I don't think my hands will be steady enough to do the painting up at edge of ceiling and wall. I am waiting for GS to move first. I know I can paint the walls, it will be the trim that is hard. I am going to clean up and paint GS's room once he moves out and then put my desk and sewing machine back in that room. That used to be my office, sewing room and craft room. I already have a plan for how I want to set it up. The old desk I had was a wrap around and it finally fell apart. It was really old. Either he or my DD will take the bedroom suit. That is the sunny side of the house. So not sure what color I want to paint it yet. Very bright room but not a huge room either.

  14. Most of my computer issues are the keys are sticking and a couple have stopped working.

I love that carriage house. So much you can do with it. And yes a chicken coop in one of the areas would be great. It looks like it is in really good shape. Lots you can do with it.

I am going to get the garden finished tomorrow and then plant seeds. Once I get the ground level for the wood pile. I will move that tomorrow afternoon. Then move the wood over and get the green house set up where I want it. Then hopefully I can go to the feed and seed the next day. Going to be a busy day tomorrow.

  15. Wow Jeepers, Those kids parents better have a really good savings. That is going to cost them.  Your mess looks like my mess from my construction. They really fixed it so you can't get to your stuff and pack it all up. I agree time to go after insurance company.  I need to get on the stick and get that garage cleaned out. Then get GS moved out so I can get the rest of house finished.

I got the notice that they are going to put a smart meter in my house. We have Dominion Energy. I have been doing alot of research on the smart meters and found one from a doctor. I can't get it to  come over to here. The site is amymyersmd.com/articile/dangerous-smart-meter#Dangers of Smart Meters Know the Truth. In between the spaces is the line that goes under the blank spaces. The key won't work.  She is an MD and has studied up one this meter. I have already heard about how this is working here from others that already have it. We have no choice but can call to opt out but it takes 30 days to do it.

I was on phone with Dominion for a good while Talking with them. She lied about the increase in price and I told here about the issues with the radiation. The RF radiation can cause cancer  Also the other type of radiation is EMF electromagnetic radiation and they haven't studied up on the health issues. I was able to opt out. But a smart meter will be installed till the paperwork is done. She is sending me the papers to fill out and then I have to send them back.  But from what This MD said it causes Fatigue, cognitive problems, Brain fog, irritability, anxiety, memory loss and can cause cancer. This radiation will be all over your house in the air and you are breathing it in. Once they get the paperwork, They will come out and take the smart meter out but I will still have a smart meter. All they do is take out the chip and it becomes a non communication smart meter.  They will come out to read meter every other month and I would be billed every other month instead of monthly. This is the funny part. They said my meter was old and non functional. You don't want to know where that story went. But anyway, I asked questions about the meter based on what some friends of mine said that has the smart meter. Will my bill go up and of course Dominion said no. Wrong. My friends bill went up about $200 a month. For me I will be paying $15 a month for them to get out of truck and come up to meter to read it. With my old meter I have now, they just drive by and read it. No getting out of truck. Told her that didn't make sense. Also one of my friends opted out and now they are hounding her. She is not budging. She said they will cut current off if you don't use the smart meter that sends info to them every 15 minute. You will lose your privacy also with this. I am opting out anyway. Hanging in till they force me to put it in. I do question the non communicating Meter. As they said all they do is take out the chip so it won't communicate with the Dominion computers. They said the cost of this for VA is 3.6 billion dollars at least I think that was the quoted price. I think that money could be better spent EMP proofing the grid.

So my morning was spent paying bills. Getting things together for when my Financial adviser comes to see what I need to do with my retirement. Need to make some changes and talking with Dominion energy. I really needed to work in yard. I have been cutting branches from my back fence off. Though they are my neighbor's bushes. They are growing through the fence and it's hard to cut grass there. DH would cut them off every year and now my guy that cuts my grass gets hit in the face when he tries to cut the grass near there. So now I am taking care of that. Leveling up the ground at fence also for the 2 racks for the wood to be stacked on. Will work on the garden areas tomorrow and then get back to working on the wood pile.

  16. Jeepers, that is what we are here for. Keeping each other up in times of stress.

I am now getting serious about selling my house and moving to NC but not in the same area as DD.  Reason I am thinking about it is that in VA the taxes here are outrages. Suffolk is getting to be one of the worst cities for high taxes. And it is much cheaper in NC. Don't care for Florida as I can't handle that humidity and mosquitoes are much worse than here.  And yesterday I get a notice that the electric company is going to change out my meter for a smart meter. Not going to happen. Just in case I miss them I am putting a notice on my meter that they are not allowed to put a smart meter in.  They can control what you use and cut you off anytime they want. That is happening in CA from what my GD there said. So they will have to talk to me before they can do anything.

Got the neighbor's bushes cut off my fence but still have a ways to go. But got enough that I can move my wood pile there instead of having it near the shed.  This way I can at least get 4- eight foot wood holders there along the fence. Would work much better and since I can't plant anything near my fence which is only between me and my neighbors, The wood stackers will work much better there. I think I can get up to 8 or 9- eight foot wood stackers along the fence line but right now 4 will do. But if I sell the house maybe in a couple of years when things settle down and I can finish the painting and other things I need to do, I want to take my wood stackers with me. And I need now to replace a window and the hot water tank. So first off is to find a cheap plumber that won't cost me an arm and 6 legs. it is a gas water heater. Right now the tank is not leaking bad and GS took a picture of the bottom of the tank. But I am going out after dinner and put a bucket under it. Just in case. But for now I can hold off. Just too tired to mess with it and I need to get the new one out of garden shed. it is light so I can move it easy and get it to garage.

Jeepers, I haven't been on a vacation in 5 or 6 years. One is coming in the near future. Just don't know yet where I would want to go.  I don't have anything around here like some of you have. Leman's Vermont country store, Amish stores and such. And a bit too far to travel. But will be looking around for some nice places like those stores but closer to me.

I think God is trying to whip my body back into shape. My muscles are feeling it. This is a huge yard with lots of upkeep on both yard and house. But better a house than an apartment any day.

  17. Love the pictures.

Becca Anne you have been one busy lady.  I hope to have my garden in and finished next week. The rain and being sick has really pushed things back for me but getting back into full swing except for now having to deal with hot water tank and window replacement. I knew the tank would one day go bad but the timing is bad. But it is what it is.

I love that barn. Lots of things you can do with that.

I need to sit down and figure out how to get my pictures back into my folder and out of onedrive. Don't know how they got into that as onedrive was my GPS that I had. Once I can sit down and figure that out then I can get pictures on here.

I love the Peter Rabbit story.  Your neighbor and the rabbit.  GS saw a fox in yard the other night. That is the second time a fox that we know of has been in backyard.  I am sure it has been in yard a lot more than that. But I haven't seen the rabbits in yard lately either. Wonder if fox would kill a rabbit?

  18. Jeepers that is really bad. And yes those parents will have to pay for the damages. Glad you were able to get another room but at 3 am. That's rough.  I pray that you get that house in Ohio finished up and it sells fast.  I know you are ready to move permanently to Indy.  Try to relax and treat yourself to something fun to get things off your mind for a while.  Like mountain rider said we are all praying for you for strength and protection.  Also for the Ohio house to be finished as soon as possible and it be sold fast.

I was talking with my DD and just like I figured no help from them. SIL is controlled by DD and he won't be coming down to replace the hot water tank. She keeps him so busy at home he has no time to himself. So I will have to fork out more money for a plumber an then when the window replacements come I will have to fork out more money to have someone put them in. Right now they will both have to be on hold because all I have done is fork out money for high taxes.  Real estate taxes will be due June 5th. Till I know for sure if that will be 46% higher than in December. The hot water tank will be on hold. I have the tank replacement but need to find a plumber. Seems all I do around here is clean up behind GS and pay taxes. And now repairs are starting. Why do I feel so broke. June can't get here fast enough so I can redo my retirement plan.  When DH passed away my financial planner decided without my knowledge dropped one of our retirement income. That is one of the things I am going after him about and looking for a new financial company.  This one is Equitable and the financial advisor whom used to be really good is not looking out for my interest any longer. I think his 4th or 5th divorce is playing on him and he has 10 kids with the last marriage having twins. Most of his kids are grown now but I am sure he is having to pay out to all the ex's that are not remarried as well as child support to the younger kids. So time to change things. I am thinking he has a lot on his plate and not looking out for anyone's interest any longer.

We got a hard rain last night and everything is to wet to work outside today. I was planning on finishing up the garden so I can start planting on Tuesday. Will see how tomorrow goes. Hopefully dry enough to finish up outside. So just going through a few boxes and getting things where they belong. Going out to garage in a bit to work on the mess out there. Still a lot to get rid of still. Going to fill up more boxes to put in car and take to Goodwill.  But on the bright side the construction took care of all the corroded pipes and now I won't have pipes bursting and flooding everything.

All this is just another bump in the road that I can hopefully look back on and laugh at. But the taxes are going to kill me financially. Thinking I might sell out and move to a lower tax state. VA has gone off the deep end for taxes, not to mention the IRS.

  19. Well, we got a storm. Looks like it might be over now. But to wet to work outside now.

This is really getting to be a bad day. Hot water tank is rusting out and leaking. It will hold till Monday. At least I already have a spare hot water tank in shed. The rusted out one is 12 years old, so guess it is time. Then I looked out the living room window and it is cracked all the way across. But at least it is lifetime warranty so that will be free windows.  One in bedroom lost it's aragon gas and I need to replace that one as well. And even worse it comes in 3's.

  20. Hoping I will be able to teach my Great GD how to garden one day, but with her DH going in coast guard, they will be transferred to who knows where. So might not see this child as much depending on location. But hoping my GD and her DH will teach her. Only thing is she is the one that gardening didn't sink in as much as DD and the other 2 grandchildren.
