  1. I know its diet year for me. I need to get healthy and stop whining about needing to lose weight and being fit. This is the year that I get serious!
  2. Sorry, Cat...I didn't make it to tonight's chat. New Years evening held many obligations that didn't let me near the computer! Looking forward to another time/day when we can get together Mrs. Survival style.
  3. THE MONTH AFTER CHRISTMAS 'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse. The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste All the holiday parties had gone to my waist. When I got on the scales there arose such a number! When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber). I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared; The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared, The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please." As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt And prepared once again to do battle with dirt-- I said to myself, as I only can "You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!" So, away with the last of the sour cream dip, Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip Every last bit of food that I like must be banished 'Till all the additional ounces have vanished. I won't have a cookie, not even a lick. I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick. I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie, I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry. I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore--- But isn't that what January is for? Unable to giggle, no longer a riot. Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I have not heard anything from her in ages. Twila, we miss you!

Hugs & Love to all,
  6. I have only read the Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien and loved it!Now I have fallen madly in love with the motion picture of Tolkien's "Lord Of The Rings" Trilogy. Now I want to read the books because as much as I enjoyed the movie, books are so much more!! This is one fantasy story I want to take to heart. Any Tolkien fans here? Long Live the King~~ Ginger 'Return of the King' Is a Decent Ending By DAVID GERMAIN, AP Movie Writer http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=st..._of_the_rings_1 With "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," Peter Jackson (news) delivers a decent ending to his fantasy trilogy — actually, about 12 endings. Unable to settle on a finale among the many farewells and epilogues in J.R.R. Tolkien's text, director Jackson decided to use them all. The result is an endless parade of false endings that will give you a great lower back workout as you rise from your theater seat thinking things are finally over, then settle back in for the next prolonged addendum. This is the main flaw to an otherwise rousing, action-packed closing chapter that began with 2001's "The Fellowship of the Ring" and continued with last year's "The Two Towers." The nine-hour theatrical epic (more like 11 hours once the extended home-video version of all three flicks are out) winds up petering out in anticlimactic torpor. Jackson does scale back greatly on the aftermath of the final good-against-evil battle, yet he preserves the main events to keep die-hard Tolkien fans happy.......

    Gidday ALL!

(((((Cougarwoman)))))) Its really wonderful to see you back here! You have been surely missed! Now let's hear more about your growing family!
  8. ((((((Thyra))))))) I'm so sorry, sweetie! You and yours is in my prayers and thoughts.
  9. Thank you, Theyd, for this melancholy reminder. With my son grown and a soon to be teen daughter, I long for the Christmas's of yesterday when my children were young. I look forward to having their young in my home in later years. I'm discovering as I near 40, that everything has a season. As for decorating a Christmas tree, I will always have a tree even when its just me and my DH. My inlaws don't see the sense in going through all the trouble of putting one up since thier boys have grown. I don't see it as trouble at all but tradition and celebration. Christmas is of the heart. I love getting into the boxes each year and putting up memories and just plain being festive! After all, what would we have to laugh at if the cat isn't playing the Christmas tree? Yes, Christmas is in the heart. Bless you, Theyd, for reminding us of the joys of Christmas's gone by and those to come. May you and yours be blessed this Christmas. Praying for snow Love ya!
  10. Life is good when you find out years later how things might have been if certain events did not take place. I'm glad this guy is out of your life.
  11. Merry Christmas to you, Hill! You sure have been missed!

I have to make a few sugarfree (Splenda) cocoa and tea recipes this afternoon, wrap a few gifts, work some more on my Christmas cards.....but I needed a break. I love coming here and being inspired. This cocoa is delicious! Thankyou!

    MY APOLOGIES...

Nana, Christmas should not be that busy. Don't knock yourself out trying to accomplish all those tasks. Maybe you could list which task is priority and knock a few or more off your list. I put off many of my tasks in the name of New Years to eliminate the stress before Christmas. When it comes to baking for the neighbors, I do it a few days after Christmas and label it Happy New Year! It works for me. Many of my friends know that we will gather after Christmas and it will be more special because of the special time reserved instead of going through the motions before December 25th. Theyd's got a delicious cup of cocoa waiting for you in another post. Take a delightful break among friends. We love you!
  16. Theyd, that certainly was a nice fellow! I live in a small community too. Our town in recent years is growing. Super Walmart opens in about a month. As much as I want the conveniences of being able to shop more economically, I hope we still keep our small town flavor that I have grown to love and appreciate as home! People really care about one another in a small town.

    Train Trip

What an inspiring trip! Thanks for sharing your scenic beauty with us.
  19. BE A SMART SHOPPER THIS HOLIDAY SEASON There are three kinds of holiday shoppers: those who buy throughout the year, picking up the perfect gifts as they find them; those who hit the malls after Thanksgiving, enjoying the holiday decorations, spirit and sales; and those who put off shopping until the last minute, then rush around buying frantically and impulsively. http://www.pioneerthinking.com/ara-smartshopper.html

    Introduction

Hi Karen! Glad you joined us! Some of these ladies most certainly are joy medicine to the soul, sure to do one a world of good!
  24. Happy Birthday Joan!! May your day be blessed!
  25. Nana, I love you, too! But I do have differing opinions than you once in awhile. I am a go with the heart first kinda person. Its my greatest strength as well as my deepest weakness. I suggested Jenna to be a friend not a bosom buddy. I know fully well that true friendship takes time, trust and commitment on both ends. I do agree that the mothers need to tone it down on pressing this union between Jenna and Home-Alone-Bride. Jenna, I am glad you have a sense of peace in this issue. It shows how huge your heart is to even be concerned. You need not feel guilty if your heart is not in making this girl comfortable. She's sure to find her way and her own network of support.
