  1. Truly emotional! ((((Mare)))) We take so much for granted. Blessed are the brave souls that watch over us!
  2. (((((((((Theyd & family)))))))) Keeping you close in prayer.
  3. Wow, whatta story! Well, my advise to you would be to forget the history chapter of this saga (dating her DH, her setting her DH to go away longer tour and to a more dangerous place, her mil blaming her...ect.) and start a new page. This new bride ia all alone and needs diversion desperately. She needs to be settled in a new area and you can be the wonderful friend to show her around and help her bide out this time. Possibly the history topics will come up later if your friendship takes off to a deeper level. But take one step at a time. Be a friend, she really could use one I'm sure you will make her smile like you do us here at Mrs. Survival. Thats just what she needs at a time like this. My heart goes out to her. I'm sure she is living in guiltland prison and needs to be broken out. With the military there are no guarantees of being deployed safely and speedily. The reality is that anything can happen, they will send whomever wherever whenever needed. All we can do is pray. I have a friend who is serving in Iraq in the reserves. He has been there almost a year and gets to come home for a 3 week leave to be with his wife. They are flying somewhere exotic to be alone for this too short period and then he goes back to Iraq. Its so very sad....but yet I'm inspired in knowing that men and women, like my friend, are serving our country. They are persons of integrity, deeply committed to doing what has to be done.
  4. That just goes to show you that everyday together is bliss Have a blessed anniversary week!
  5. Yep, economical is the way to go with these recipes! This week, we made up 25 batches of the 1st hot chocolate recipe I posted for under $12. The United Way food truck is coming to our town next week and 100's of folk will be waiting line, enduring frigid Michigan weather for 2 1/2 hours to get a box of groceries. Our church will be giving out cups of hot chocolate and coffee as they wait. Maybe the Lord will bless us with a fair sunny day
  6. Praying, too I know you'll be an agent of comfort to your dear sister. (((((Snow))))
  7. I need someone to send me a workout incentive. Truly, I can see the benefits for all involved, corporate and personal! Good for you, Homey, getting a head start! Let us know what works.

Atropine, I have a friend who was called to head covering for much the same reasons as you. You go, Girl! Living out your own personal convictions shows you have a strength beyond measure.
  9. Shepherd, compared to some, I would say I need to talk more
  10. I don't have Nursemom's recipe but I do have a few of my own that I give out at Christmas. Hearth and Home Cocoa Mix© Combine and blend well: 2 cups nonfat dry milk powder 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup cocoa 1/2 cup powdered nondairy creamer dash salt Makes 3-3/4 cups mix 15 to 16 servings Directions: Add 1/4 cup mix to 3/4 cup boiling water in mug. Stir to blend. __________________________________________________ Gourmet Hot Cocoa Mix From Taste of Home 1 25 ounce box non-fat dry milk 1 16oz jar non-dairy creamer 1 15 or 16 ounce container of presweetened cocoa mix (like Nestles Quik) 1 13 ounce jar chocolate malted milk powder 1 cup powdered sugar Mix all the ingredients together in a very large container. Use a wire whisk to be sure it is distributed evenly. Divide mixture into jars with tight lids. To make hot cocoa, place 2 - 3 tablespoons of mix into a mug. Add boiling water and stir well. You may use more or less mix to taste or depending on the size of the mug. __________________________________________________ Raspberry Hot Cocoa Mix If you're really pressed for time, just buy hot cocoa mix in bulk and mix in one packet of raspberry unsweetened Kool-Aid for every 3 cups of cocoa mix. 2 cups powdered sugar 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 cup non-dairy creamer powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 packets unsweetened raspberry Kool-Aid 5 1/2 cups instant dry milk powder Sift together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, non-dairy creamer, salt and Kool-Aid into a large bowl. Stir. __________________________________________________ Swiss Style Mocha Mix Yield: 24 servings 1/2 c Instant coffee granules 1/2 c Sugar 2 tb Cocoa 1 c Nonfat dry milk powder Combine all and mix well. Welcome, Atropine!! I believe you'll find this place home! Glad you are here
  15. Joan, thats a site I am going to have to spend some quality time at...there is so much there! Thank you for sharing and you have a wonderful Thanksgiving...I'm thankful for you
  16. Yes! But for our family, this feasting lasts for 3-4 days like the very 1st Thanksgiving...so dieting will resume on Monday! Be Merry and enjoy life!
  17. Then it was 4 years ago! Thanks for finding that out....after I posted...I remembered what grade my son was in and it didn't jive with 2001. I will contact Snow for the 2000 list.
  18. Nana, 2001 was also the year I didn't get mine out! Can you send me the list...I have lost mine but I still have the precious ornaments! I didn't know that Twila said she sent hers out. I wanted to emphasize that sometimes crisis comes into ones life and everything else gets put on hold.
  19. Do you have Thanksgiving traditions? I was watching this week's episode of "Everyone Loves Raymond" (My favorite show)and the Maron's were celebrating Thanksgiving dinner at the McDoogles. The McDoogles had a custom of a Thanksgiving Play where family members acted out the 1st Thanksgiving by dressing up as indians and pilgrims. It was so sweet and profound. I loved it. We have a Thanksgiving tradition where everyone is given 3 kernals of indian corn and for each kernal, they have to express something they are thankful for. My Dh who for the most part, is a man of few words....really blows me away with his verbal expression of thankfullness for our family! I really love this tradition of ours! Does your family have traditions? I really do love Thanksgiving! It is my favorite holiday! There is nothing commercial about Thanksgiving but to me, simply heartfelt! Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends at Mrs. Survival! Each of you have brightened many a day for me and I am blessed to know you! Love ya!
  20. In Twila's defense I'd like to interject that we do not walk in her shoes. Her intentions when she signed up for the ornament exchange was to follow through but possibly life has thrown her a curve ball that makes doing so impossible.

    Oh my! This is good!!!
  22. Hi Lowie!! I love reading your posts! It gets very cold in Northern Micigan where I live so gardening is not an option in the winter. I do love hearing all you are able to grow and do....it inspires me so and makes this long winter season seem less drab. I love the installing the rabbit method! How creative and yes, environmentally sound! Does the rabbit free range in the greenhouse or is it penned? Keep us updated...your gardening adventures are music to our itching ears!! Blessings!
