  1. Lowie, I have seen pink, peach and cream colored pointsettias in these parts. This year, I have noticed a red rose-bud variety which looks very unique and not at all like a pointsettia. But I do have to agree wholeheartedly, that a blazing red tradional pointsettia is my absolute favorite. ------------------

What beautiful scenery, fantastic acting and perilous fantasy imbedded with deep symbolism and meaning. Go, Frodo, Go Excuse me, if I get a little excited..... 10. Your welcome....I know you posted...I was dying to know what you said but when I came here, my entire post was gone Good topic,Debbielee.... I pronounce pointsettia "poinsett-ee-a" but I am way too compulsive about saying something like a word is spelled. Hor's devres made my husband hysterical with laughter our very 1st New Years Eve together as a married couple (I was so young) I suggested that we have "HORS DEVOURS" before dinner....Dh looked puzzled like i was talking chinese...then he nearly laughed himself to death as he realized I did not intend to have "WHORES" anything before dinner but meant only snacks. Interesting to see how others say... pointsettia. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Ginger (edited December 09, 2002).]
  11. Dear Logcabinmama, (((((((Hugs)))))))) and many prayers for you. While it seems dark and bleak for the meanwhile, I know that you can see light at the end of the long tunnel that you have been living. How wonderful it is for you to realize that it is not you, honey, but his choices that have made him so miserable. Hurting people hurt people. I know God is going to refresh you in an awesome way. You keep on being the best mother to your children and if you are able remain dh's friend. All those years were not wasted...you will always be a beautiful caring woman that glows from the inside out...By your gentleness and compassion in letting dh go his own way, he will come to respect you even when your relationship together changes. Merry Christmas, friend! Keep looking up ------------------

  23. Reci, Great advise! I watched a show on Oprah about how people sent thier children to college after saving all their change during the childhood years. I have been saving my change for over a year and have saved a couple hundred dollars and counting with this Christmas season. I highly recommend this way of saving. It works! I really do like the thought of paying myself everypay day. I will do it...I am worth it Bless you, Reci, for your creative ideas!! ------------------ [This message has been edited by Ginger (edited November 24, 2002).]
  24. "...We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven; we have been preserved these many years inpeace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us. It has seemed to me fit and proper that God should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November as a day of Thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens." -- written and signed by Abraham Lincoln on October 3, 1863 Dear Friends, Thanksgiving is my most favorite holiday! Those of us living in the United States of America; we have much to be thankful for. Let us ponder these historic words that Abraham Lincoln wrote many years ago. May your Thanksgiving Holiday be filled with love and gratitude. God bless you and yours! ------------------
  25. Beauty Tips Below is a wonderful poem. Audrey Hepburn wrote it when she was asked to share her "beauty tips." It was read at her funeral years later. For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others. If you share this with another woman, something good will happen...you will boost another woman's self esteem, and she will know that you care about her ------------------
