  1. :busted::busted::busted:

I have too many to list them all.   3 crochet projects going, some half done sewing, numerous scrapbooks going.    So many things I started and put aside for 'later.'  It fills an entire 5x5 cube style bookcase

  2. I wish we had time to go to the market, but DD15 flew home today and most of the day was taken up by picking her up from the airport.  I'm hoping to make a farmer's market/garage sale weakened in the next few weeks.  I love neighborhood garage sales and I'm hoping to find a twin bed cheap in the next few weeks.

  3. I'd believe that they do much better in mountainous places like Loja or desert places like AZ than say...Jackson MS or Chesapeake, VA.  A place for everything and everything in its place.  They do leak though.  And that has to be fixed and causses contamination issues. Burning fossil fuels causes contamination issues of a different sort.  All things have downsides.

    did some laundry :clothesline:

fed the baby...who really isn't a baby anymore.  :cook: :sad-smiley-012:

finally redeemed a $50 gift card to amazon from mistplay and it worked.   Yea!  i got paid to play video games and waste time.  :hapydancsmil:

Now I'm reconciling the pantry list and trying to decide if I'm going to buy mason jars or craft supplies from amazon.  :shopping:

  5. I use a lot of silicone molds.  I always grease them before baking --especially if there is any sort of pattern or shape.   If I'm freezing ice cream or ice whatever I don't grease.  Making chocolate shapes, I use melted butter. Glycerin soap, I spray the mold with alcohol and then the top of the soap to prevent bubbles.   The larger Bundt cake pans made of silicone require a lot of grease in the crevices.  I always use Crisco and a paper towel for that.

If you let the items cool to room temperature before removing from the mold, you will end up with a much more aesthetic product.  I always use a baking sheet under them also.

I have some silicone cupcake liners that have all the lines like the paper ones do. Terrible purchase!   I no longer even try to bake with them, no amount of grease will get a release.  They do ok for freezing things if well greased.  I mostly use them to separate out items in lunches or let the toddler use them in her play kitchen.  The only pics I found were old with bunny cookies, but I often use them for fruit or pudding or something DH needs to pull out of the container before he microwaves it.  That way I can mix hot and cold in the same container and he can easily set it to the side when heating.  Also works well to hold the nuts & croutons in a Tupperware lunch salad.  That way they stay nice and crisp when he goes to eat it.

On that note, DD2's play kitchen is stocked with a lot of dollar store kitchen gadgets.   Silicon spatula, spoons, measuring cups, so much cheap plastic that looks like mine.  She loves it.

  6. We have a French door refrigerator with a bottom freezer.  We also have 2 upright deep freezers.  The older one is where a breakfast nook would be if we had one and the other is in the sunroom.  The plan is to eat down all the food in the older one and move the newer one into the breakfast nook area.  Once that is done, I want to get some plant shelves and put them in the sunroom against one window and open the blinds on that section only. Something like this:

Amazon.com : Mini Walk-in Greenhouse for Outdoors, 3 Tiers 8 Shelves, 57x61x80 Inch with Observation Windows and Roll-up Door Zipper, Plant Garden Hot House for Plants, Herbs, Flowers : Patio, Lawn & Garden

That way the plastic can help keep the 2 remaining cats out of the plants since they tend to eat anything growing and do unspeakable things in dirt.  We used to have 4, but 1 died right when covid happened, 1 moved with DD19 (cat around 18 years died last week), and that leaves us with 2.   One is elderly 10-14 (he was a rescue so approximate) and the female is about 7.  They are much loved and spoiled so cat > garden.

We may try peppers and tomatoes outside in the raised beds again.   Mostly herbs indoors.  Perhaps some lettuce.  DD14 has expressed a lot of interest in growing fancy lettuce and I think it would be good to encourage it.  If anyone has good suggestions for indoor potted plants (edible) please let me know what is easy -- I have 2 black thumbs.

We plan to remove the rosemary from the raised bed and put it up front by the hydrangeas that seem to be struggling.   Rosemary bushes would be an acceptable substitute for my front porch since it would smell divine.  I've been here over 10 years now, but I still struggle adapting to this climate.  I'm too used to hot & humid Mississippi.

We still have the fruit trees:  several peaches, a pear, blackberry & raspberry.   I'd like to have an apple but I'm not sure if that will happen this year.   I'd like to add a hibiscus plant as I've recently discovered a love of dehydrated hibiscus.

  7. I had a cough so bad a few years back that I couldn't eat, drink, sleep or anything.   The doctor prescribed me a lidocaine syrup.  I took very small amounts of it and had immediate relief.  You have to be really careful with the small dosage because too much of it and it could cause breathing issues since it numbs your throat so much.

  8. If you have a cell phone with a data plan, most people do zoom from their phone.  I can do chat forum, zoom, discord, google duo, whatever.

Alexa is not what you use to do zoom.  Zoom is just an app for a electronic device with a camera and microphone like a computer or cell phone.  Case in point, you cannot do zoom from alexa, but you can tell alexa to open zoom on another device she is attached to--but you would still be using zoom from and on that device and not on alexa.  So not much point in digging it out.

Alexa is just a fancy voice activated menu that opens and closes things on other devices that are connected to it.  Thermostats, ring doorbells, smart appliances, your computer, cell phone, smart watch, etc.   It has a speaker and can play voice or music things run from the other things, but alexa and those things are not themselves capable of running apps or programs independently.  You can set them to an if/then tree to turn other things off and on, but it is still connecting to other things to make whatever happen...happen.

My vote is whatever the majority wants.

  9. I rarely forget my bags because I keep them on the D clamp, my main 2 stores don't use bags, and it is a habit.  On the rare occasions I do forget, I just put everything in the cart and bag it when I get to my van.   We always bag at the van after a BJs trip.   Most of it is bulk and big enough to just stack in the van, but there are always a few smaller items.

  10. I enjoy reading and I'm flexible.  I prefer non fiction, scifi, crime, horror,  romance, or fantasy.  I'm less about the popular books usually.  A lot of book clubs tend to want to read things like The secret life of Bees or The Mulberry Tree and those never spark my interest.

  11. I keep reusable bags in the back of my van because I shop at places like Aldi and BJs.  I also use boxes (mine or from the store) I have a big panara catering bag that I keep all the other bags in and I Keep a D clamp on it and use that to hang it off the shopping cart.  I do the same with my purse and diaper bag.  Baby in top, bags hanging under the handle beside her legs.   Lots more room that way.

Also I have a baby wagon that I use with the baby when we go places like parks or the zoo or aquarium.  I use it to haul purchases from the van to the house.  I can hold 300lbs.  We've been using it about a year now and it is great.  It does seem to have gone way up in price since we bought ours.  We paid 119.75 and it is now over 150.00

  12. I really liked that old 70s style one.  I'm a sucker for a lot of the 70s colors and designs.   I collect too many things.

I showed it to DH and asked him if he could build me one like that for me to fill with dried items.   He said it would be really easy and he has all the tools.  I just need to give him some measurements and a rough design for him to mock up in autocad.  :cloud9:

  13. I've taken mason jars, Taped photos into a tube shape and stuffed  the tube in the jar and filled the bottom with bits and bobs for decorations before.  I scrapbook a lot and some of the pages are up to 1" thick with stuff.  I cut the original page down a bit when I do that so it will fit into the page protector correctly when the width is larger.   I sometimes glue the items in or if I want to really preserve them, I will take some archival plastic protectors and heat seal them around the item and then glue the back of the plastic into the page.

these are similar to what I've done, but not mine:

  14. I'm sorry.  I didn't mean to insinuate that earlier ends could not happen to innocent people.  I was thinking about people I know who did dumb things that ended badly.  My grandmother isn't the best person, but she is not currently in good health and I think about how much I am like her.   What will I do to get by over the years?  Age comes with a lot of decisions and I just think we need to respect the stress that brings.
