Preserving broccoli

Recommended Posts

Since broccoli doesn't can well and I'm trying to get away from freezing things, I was thinking really hard about how to keep one of my favorite veggies. I was looking at some survival type web sites and low and behold...dehydrated broccoli. They showed it in its dried form and in its prepared form and it looked quite good. I think I will make a project of drying some next time it's on sale.

"You can do it in the sun,

You can do it till it's done.

You can do it with a screen,

You can do it while it's green.

You can do it in a tree,

But birds might think the meal is free.

You can do it in the oven,

Not much work, but lots of lovin'..."

Pixie,

sometimes it is easier for me to send a link then to write out the information.

it is a pretty good site!

I have a wooden frame box with a door that opens. It is covered in a very fine screen. I hang this box in the shade and dry many fruits and vegetables. I also have 5 dehydrators...lately they have used for drying liver treats for my dogs.

If you do a search and find something interesting.. post it!
