Freetobeme
Since broccoli doesn't can well and I'm trying to get away from freezing things, I was thinking really hard about how to keep one of my favorite veggies. I was looking at some survival type web sites and low and behold...dehydrated broccoli. They showed it in its dried form and in its prepared form and it looked quite good. I think I will make a project of drying some next time it's on sale. Link to comment

Guest Guest
(with apologies to Dr Suess) "You can do it in the sun, You can do it till it's done. You can do it with a screen, You can do it while it's green. You can do it in a tree, But birds might think the meal is free. You can do it in the oven, Not much work, but lots of lovin'..." rockncook
Pixie, Search this section of the board for dehydrating. There is some excellent info from last year and before about making your own dehydrators. Mommy of Six Who is excited at the thought of building her own dehydrators now that she'll have room for them! Link to comment

Leia
We have dehydrated in our oven. Just put oven on lowest heat setting (usually around 200) and throw your stuff in. We did it this way before we had our dehydrators Have fun! Shawna Link to comment
Guest Guest
Pixie, sometimes it is easier for me to send a link then to write out the information. it is a pretty good site! I have a wooden frame box with a door that opens. It is covered in a very fine screen. I hang this box in the shade and dry many fruits and vegetables. I also have 5 dehydrators...lately they have used for drying liver treats for my dogs. If you do a search and find something interesting.. post it! Link to comment
