Anyone here tried barley sprouts before?

I started growing sprouts again. I tried my barley sprouts and the flavor is nice and sweet, but they were all rubbery to chew!! It took forever to actually chew one mouthful and then swallow it. We ended up giving it to our birds.

 

Has anyone here tried growing barley sprouts and if so, did you get different results? Thanks for any insights.

 

Tomorrow we'll be eating mung bean sprouts. I sure hope they're more palatable.

I used to sprout barley and then dry the sprouts to grind for making bread. Malted barley is good in bread.

What kind of barley do you need for sprouting? I have pearled barley & hulled barley. Will those work?

the ones I used had some of the husk still on them. It doesn't really matter just as long as they will sprout. It is called diastatic malt by the way.
