kaseyb (Supermom!)
Pixie, it was a true tragedy where people desperately starving resorted to doing some terrible things. It gives one an idea of what pioneers on wagon trains faced in trying to eat while facing hardships of all kinds. Perhaps stressing the importance of never becoming a refugee..... The cookbook describes foods people traveling on wagon trains probably ate in order to survive....when times were manageable, but still not all that good. http://raiboy.tripod.com/Donner/id33.html Link to comment
