germanbini
My son will be going to Guatemala for a few months soon. I have heard that the fruits and veggies make people sick because the water to wash the food is contaminated. I was thinking of sending him down with some tea tree oil and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide for washing his fruit before he eats them. Does anyone have any more hints or suggestions on use so he does not get sick? Link to comment
Roseofsharon
I read an article that said to fill one spray bottle with Hydrogen Peroxide and one with white vinegar. Said this combo would remove most pesticides. Link to comment
bee1425
I'm not familiar with Guatemala, but, if their water is contaminated, I would advise him to use bottled water for anything that is to be consumed, including ice in drinks. Link to comment
HapyGirl
SIgh, all I know is I avoided Montezuma's revenge on our school trip until our teacher washed some strawberries in water with something to kill the germs and I ate some. Up until then I had avoided fresh food and drank bottled water. I think the water gets into the produce and no matter how well you wash it it's grown in it! I was the last person on that trip to get sick since I was so paranoid about getting any water in my mouth while showering etc. I hope he doesn't get sick! Link to comment
Bamboo
I believe Cat is very familiar with South America. You might pm her if she doesn't respond here. Link to comment
