KatMom
I have seen a number of these advertised lately. Does anybody here have an opinion on them. Yhey look attractive to me because they use less water and wouldn't be so heaVY. Do you think they're safe to use?. Katmom Link to comment
furbabymom
I used to have one for canning apples. After I bought it, I learned that they aren't safe because it can leave the jars underprocessed, so I got rid of it. http://missvickie.com/canning/quiz.htm Scroll a little over halfway down the page. Jules
I was wondering about steam canners, I don't own a canner and I noticed the pressure canners at Wallys are $60.00 and a steam canner is only $20.00. Now I know why. Link to comment
Darlene
I'm not familiar with 'steam' canners, but I would venture to guess that they do not have the ability to go as high as is needed in pressure and other things to safely home can foods. If you wanna get me the brand of the steam canner, I'll look at it and tell you the exact details of the differences...I know that I always wanna know WHY myself...lol Link to comment
Jules
Darlene the lack of heat to kill bacteria is exactly what concerns me; would you take a look at my post in the 'canning supplies' part of this sub forum? Thankyou Link to comment
