cootie
I finally found a feed store and bought some corn. When I grind it, will it be corn flour, or corn meal. Also, does this dried corn double as corn seed? Can I plant it? The owner assured me that this is just dried corn right off the cob, so I'm sure it's safe for human consumption. Although he never heard of it being used for grinding into cornmeal! Another thread on this site discussed this issue as well. Thanks! Link to comment

westbrook
Hot Dogs on a Stick Ingredients 1 cup all-purpose flour 2/3 cup yellow cornmeal 2 tablespoons sugar 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons shortening 1 beaten egg 3/4 cup milk 8 to 10 wooden skewers (look for them at craft shops) 1 pound frankfurters, smoked frankfurters, or cheese-filled frankfurters (8 to 10) Cooking oil Catsup (optional) Mustard (optional) Directions 1. In a bowl, stir together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, dry mustard, and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles fine crumbs. 2. In a bowl, mix together egg and milk. Add to flour mixture and mix well. 3. Insert wooden skewers into the ends of frankfurters. Pour cooking oil into skillet to a depth of 1 inch; heat oil to 365 degree F. 4. Coat franks with batter. (If batter is too thick, add 1 to 2 tablespoons milk.) Place coated franks, 3 at a time, in hot oil. Turn franks with tongs after 10 seconds to prevent batter from sliding off. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes more or until golden, turning again halfway through cooking time. 5. Serve hot with catsup and mustard, if you like. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
