CrabGrassAcres
I use #10 cans from the salvage store. 1 can green beans 1 can sliced carrots 1 can diced dried potatoes 1 can garbanzos Dump in large pot (I use a 10 gallon) with enough water to hydrate the potatoes add 2 large onions, diced (or the equivalent in dried onions) salt, pepper to taste 2 qts chopped, cooked turkey (I use jars I canned previously) Cook till potatoes are hydrated then add 1 can crushed tomatoes Makes 21 qts (3 canner runs for me) and some for supper. Cook what is left after filling the jars until potatoes and onions are done then serve hot. Process the jars 90min at 10#. Link to comment
Amishway Homesteaders
Can we realy can this recipe? That would be cool as it has everything I like to eat! Lori will not eat it because of the chick peas - HATES them BUT She LOVES humus! YES, I know I told her THAT! Link to comment
CrabGrassAcres
It cans up beautifully, Michael. If you start with dry peas instead of commercially canned, soak and partially cook them before mixing with the rest of the ingredients. Link to comment
Jeepers
That sounds so good! It would be a nice change from beef stew too. I'd probably use chicken as I like the milder flavor. Thanks for sharing your recipe. Link to comment
