Jori
Help!!!! With DS2 being born in June, I wasn't able to put as much up by canning and less freezing than I thought I would. He is now eating, still introducing foods, and I would prefer to make my own when possible. Do you think it's alright to use my canned fruit, specifically peaches (frozen are gone but not sure how), plums, and pears (can't locate my pear sauce so I guess I'm out)? Should I rinse the syrup off? Already, planning to do more than the last two years. I guess it's time to look for a bigger deep freeze. Link to comment
CrabGrassAcres
It should be fine. I wouldn't rinse it, just drain the syrup and puree the fruit. Link to comment
themartianchick
I fed both of my girls commercially canned fruit. I just bought the ones that were packed in juice rather than syrup. Back then, there weren't many brands that were packed in juice, but now, there are lots of choices. I have seen mandarin oranges, pears and peaches packed in fruit juice in my local grocery stores. The nice thing is that even some of the generics are in fruit juice now. Link to comment
Violet
It depends if you used a light or heavy syrup. If you want less sugar, then rinse first. The homecanned is the best you can feed your baby in my opinion. Link to comment
