  1. Nail Art Techniques: How To Create Mesmerizing Design Of Your Manicure Other Women Envy?

Well we all know what one :wormie2: downloaded! :sHa_sarcasticlol:

    and sorry but..........................

35 Healthy Chicken Recipes <---- Healthy for WHO? Not the Chicken? :sHa_sarcasticlol:

but yes I will try and download that one.

  2. well...... still here. Never even had the lights blink? but all around us there are blackouts and trees down , some schools are closed for today and the scanner is busy with calls for this and that. Poor Lori has to go to work today. We were so looking forward to a few days without power - now we may have to 'fake it' over the weekend?

    :AmishMichael2:

  3. Doing OK so far..................................

They keep moving the time that we should be getting the high winds back? was 4:30 pm , then 6pm, now maybe 9 pm???????????????

The wind is blowing outside but not the 50+ they called for. Some areas around us have trees down and some lose of power but only 1 block here and there. Scanner keeps us informed (and busy) about what is happening so when it gets close to us I wil know.

For now w eare heading up to bed to read for a bit before sleep.

  4. We LOVE Yard Sales / Garage Sales...........and Auctions too!

We get the best deals and sometimes even new things that people 'thought' they needed but never opened that we get for pennies on the dollar.

Most of the stuff we have and use we got a few years after "Y2K" didn't happen and people were just trying to unload stuff.

YES to the jars! Why pay for new ones that once you can in them they are 'used'? Let someone else pay that price and then you get them cheap take home and wash and nobody can tell those jars from new ones.

Last month had a friend ask if we 'needed' and more jars as they had a few in cellar that were just sitting there? BRING BOXES he said!

We did but there were more than that so we put the rest in our market tote (just happened to have them along) and came home with like 20 boxes of all sizes of canning jars. We did share some with newly marries Amish Friends.

  5. OK, I think I did it right so I got it?

have to wait until Lori gets home to know for sure.

This is just what I asked Lori to find for me last night .... and here it is.

    :AmishMichael2:

Click on the link up there

Click on the 'Buy Now With 1 Click' button on the upper right hand side of the Amazon page

It MIGHT ask if you want to send to your computer or your Kindle

Just be sure whenever you down load anything from Amazon there is no price listed in the 'Buy Now With 1 Click' button. If there is a price in there...it isn't free. :sEm_blush:

Oh, I know 'how to do it' but sometimes with the wi-fi we have in area it is slow to download and then I have to find where it puts it. this time it went right to our books and I was looking everywhere BUT there.

read most of it last night - good thing it was free.

    :AmishMichael2:

  6. Good advice- even after all the years of canning we always pull out the recipe (and the blue book) and read it over again before canning.

Sorry to hear about your set back -

but let’s just call it....................... Lessons Learned and go on from there.

Remember it was only beets and a few lids NOT a major canning like doing a side of beef <-- now THAT would have been a big loss.

    :AmishMichael2:

  7. for us anyway - we look at what it costs to save money!

how much did the water cost to wash those paper plates?

how much did that guy wear out shoe leather walking around to find that nickle?

instead of 'cleaning' your kids in a tub full of dirty water - teach them to take a sponge bath in a bowl full of clean water!

going a week without buying food is dumb - because you had to buy the food you eat that week another week? plan to eat 'free food' instead (like from a garden).

So none of what they showed will save any money in the long run? :imoksmiley:

Turn off lights you don't need on.

don't run water down drain just to get it hot or cold.

Cook mor then 1 meal at a time and eat leftovers.

use leftovers to make soup or stews.

    can we say CAN!

    That is just a start...........................

  8. Well THAT was a fun Day!

Talked to my Mom on the phone and I thanked her for being there the day I was born so I didn't have to enter the world all alone!

Had a nice meal at Arby's Restaurant . . . . But I kept looking around and never did see Arby there? She must have been too busy in the shout box here to come out and ‘talk’ with us?

  9. we are using outdoor solar spotlights (landscaping) at night for room lighting when we just want a 'glow'.

They are even bright enough to read by and safer then candles as we can leave the room and not worry.

Just have to remeber to put them outside during the day but some I have in windows and on bright sunny days that is enough to charge them for the few hours they are needed.

Like what you posted - lots of info to make you think a bit.

  10. Love cooking this way!

We always 'shop' for deals and then come home and have a 'cooking fest' and can and freeze the whole day.

Makes the house smell so good too!

But last Saturday when we were canning Turkey ( great deal on it this week) the house smelled like Thanksgiving Day and now we both what a big Turkey Dinner!

I Also love my Cockpots! (3 qt. & 6 qt.) If we know we will be late getting home and no time to cook it will save the day by making Supper as well as greeting us at the door with just the best smells.

Winter is coming and that means lots of stews, soups and crockpot meals for us! Makes the cheaper cuts of meat go a long way and also makes them tender.

Man I am Hungry NOW! and we are going out at 5:15 and get back late. :sad-smiley-012:

  11. a gad stove would be better as you can turn it up and down as the gauge changes but electric will work - you just have to find the right temp to 'cook' it at?

After the first time it will become easy each time you can.

Just remember to NEVER leave the place you are canning so you can watch it! Pull up a chair and read a book so you can watch it closely and don't leave the room - even to just run out and check on something because that is when something willl happen.

Pick something that will be a short canning time for your first batch, that way it will be over soon and less of a stress on you.

  12. well........................................

Seeing we put pennies in our birdbaths to help stop the water from going bad? Stops the mold from building up on the plastic trays and IT WORKS!

I don't see why it would help here too?

I think I would just bury a few in the ground when I plant so it gets into the plant sooner ?

Will be trying this next year as ours are just about over with.

We plant in rebar cages and I have found over the yeas not to plant so the cages touch each other but leave a bit of room so air can get around the tomatoes as they grow. But some of mine don't listen and they grow so big every year that they get over 6 feet tall and way outside the cages ! :sHa_sarcasticlol:

    :AmishMichaelstraw:

  13. 1 Lb. Ground Turkey in tubes (Frozen) 10 for $10.

So far we have 20 of them!

We let them threw out in Refrigerator then raw pack -pressure can in Jelly jars (1/2 Lb. in each).

Great for gravies and soup or even to make turkey salad sandwiches. Come Winter Time.

  14. A Cheap Meal !...............................

    Michael's "UNstuffed Peppers"

seeing Lori doesn't like the whole stuffed peppers I have been making it this way - using peppers, onions from garden and meat bought on sale.

This will feed 3 - 4 people depending on how hungry you are - serve with bread.

fry (in large skillet) 1 pound of chop meat

chop and boil (a minute or two) some peppers (both red and green) - I do this while meat is cooking

chop onion and add to meat in pan, along with peppers

Cook rice (about 3/4) and add to pan

add Pasta sauce (homemade is best!) until 'thick'

    ** tonight added leftover corn

cook until hot and serve in bowls

    .................................................................................................................................................................................................

Here is how I do my chop meat:

We buy it on sale and then freeze in 1 pound bags.

I use Ziploc sandwich bags and then put them into gallon freeze bags so I can take out 1 pound at a time.

    = = here is the 'trick' = =

Measure out 1 pound of meat and put it into the sandwich bag and close most of it - then I push the meat flat in bag to get out most of the air. Use a rolling pin to get it nice and flat in bag and then seal the Ziploc bag.

I write the date with marker and then 'stack' them into the large bag and freeze.

When you 'need' a quick meal - take out 1 bag and seeing it is flat it will thaw out fast (or put it into a bowl of water (still in bag) while you get other things ready)
