  1. I keep hearing about this marmite product and it sounds like its really nasty. Do you use it ? Whats it made out of?
  2. Favorite Grownup Movie- I don't have just one. Favorite Kids Movie- Disneys Beauty and the Beast.
  3. I would have to say right now its the " O Brother Where Art Thou." soundtrack and thats been out for while.
  4. Simon and Schuster has a website called SimonSays.com. For those of you who like to read they have a book contest once a month and everyone wins. The books they give are on the best seller list or new books that haven't been on the market yet. I have received alot of great books from this company on a monthly basis and all I did was just follow directions. So go in, Check out the book of the month and sign up. You will get a confirmation e-mail telling you that you will be receiving the books.
  5. These days Snowy as old age creeps closer I find myself listening to a more softer kinder form of music for the eardrums although I have a few days in and out where I shake the house with some eardrum splitting music. You know what the best concert going is snowy and it doesn't cost you a cent and you don't have to leave home. You will find it in your own backyard if you stop and take a listen. Thats the sweetest symphony you can ever hear.
  6. Time does sure fly but don't be sad Spit. In a few years he will probably move home after doing a stint outside your home and finding that its a hassle to survive out in the real world or maybe he will get hitched and bring all those babies home for you to babysit while he and his Mrs. go on vacation several times a year...LOL. Then the cycle starts all over again and you can watch your grandkids grow just like you watched your " little man'" grow. Happy Birthday baby Spitty!
  7. Allright, You go EdandPeg! You can start the Cape Cod Skippers Association.
  8. Think Skip ------------------
  9. Don't be stressed out Ed. Take a walk along the beach and play in the sand or look for sea shells, and watch and listen to natures sounds all around you. Watch the waves lazily roll on the rocks and beach, listen to the gulls as well as watching them soar through the air dancing on the ocean breeze. Look for Dolphins or Whales splashing playfully in the water. I am wondering in my mind how the Cape looks at this time of year. Is nature putting on its winter coat yet on the cape? I remember being at the marconi site and just sitting on the rocks enjoying the ocean waves pounding against time honored boulders. Of course I wondered who walked across those boulders from the Old Country when they traveled to start a new life here in the Americas. The ocean is a mesmorizing lady. She seems like she can be a gentle lass, a comforter,a playful child or an angry mother bringing her wrath down on you in a split second. If you take the time to remove yourself from stressful situations and feelings and enjoy things you love to do then by all means go for it. Make Sandcastles, find swings in a park and swing on them, do something you normally wouldn't do. Go on a road trip for a day and bring a picnic lunch with you. Be a child for a day forgetting all of lifes responsibilities. What I mean by that is to take a day off and get away from the stress and just play. Here is a great idea for relaxing! Skip on the beach. YES I SAID SKIP ON THE BEACH! Do you know there is actually a worldwide skipping club ( their website is on the net somewhere) Maybe we can all come to the Cape next summer and skip on the beach with you. That way when the constable comes to haul you away for mental instability he will have to take the rest of we Mrs. Survivor girls and guys with you. Is the paddy wagon big enough for all of us? Better yet we can tell him that we are free form skipping to get ready for the olympics. Do you think he would buy it? Now that would be a site. We would need Darlene to bail us out of the pokey if she wasn't skipping herself. For lowlander she can join the England Skipping Club: The addy is: http://homepages.tesco.net/~sjdcon/Index.htm For Canadians they have the Canadian Skipping Association, I have to find that addy and for us there is: www.iskip.com where you can sign up to become a skipper. Check it out. So practice skipping Ed, it will illeviate your stress and you can look forward to the thought that we all may join you skipping up and down the beaches of the Cape next summer.
  10. Why I am just a newlywed Mr. Ed! & . Neil Diamond is one of my fav's. I had the opportunity to attend one of his concerts and it was rockin. Manilows concerts are like Diamonds. When you leave their concerts you take those feel good feelings and carry them around with you forever. I would have given anything to see Queen. Fat Bottomed Girls by queen is one of my very favorites. A couple of years ago Elton was traveling around the US playing for small crowds so it was not advertized. I was lucky enough to be having dinner with friends when Elton popped up to the Piano at the place we were dining at and started to entertain us. It was a great way to see him and when he took a break he came over and sat with us and just shot the bull. He's a wonderful and funny guy. We had the nicest chat. It was a casual atmosphere and Reggie was at his best! David Crosby and Graham Nash were very down to earth people and their wives were very nice. John Denver was my friend. John would do anything for anyone he was just that kind of person. I knew him when he wasn't famous. His loss affected me for a long time. Now Peter Paul and Mary and Dinner at Corteses Restuarant was something. When they come to town they always eat at Corteses and I was at the afterparty after the concert and was invited by Paul Stookey to come to dinner with them. Paul is a delightful man but Travers and Yarrow were kind of out of it. Too Much white wine. When he is in the area Bob Dylan always visits my friend Elliots cafe called Whole in The Wall. He's a good friend of Elliots so I get to smooze with him every once and a while. The cafe is known for its Vegan fare and baked goods. Alot of the groups or people that play at our arena if they are vegan either order food to be delivered to their dressing rooms at the arena or they go over to the Wall after the concert. One of the biggest surprises that happened to me was after the Harry Chapin concert I attended Harry ame up to me and took me in his arms and proceeded to French Kiss me. It was not pleasant. He must have had a meal that was heavy on the garlic. I guess I was just at the wrong place at the wrong time when it came to that kiss although alot of women would relish it. I could write a book and I wasn't even a groupie. I just met these people through friends after my 20's. Most of the above mentioned were just nerds and eggheads like me and pooh poohed all the fuss around them. [This message has been edited by reci (edited October 21, 2002).]

  16. OK Ed, fess up and list the concerts you've and Peg have been too! I have been to many but one of the most memorable ones was the original Woodstock. Nothing can really compare to that. Of course then there is THE JOHN DENVER CONCERTS which come second after Woodstock. I have also been to: The Beatles first concert here in America, Peter, Paul and Mary ( had dinner with them at a local Italian Rest after the show) Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and without Young concerts, Barry Manilow, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Grateful Dead, Harry Chapin, The Mamas & Pappas, Jethro Tull, Janice Joplin, Sting, ELton John, Rod Stewart, Simon and Garfunkel, Garfunkel, The Roches,Donovin, Jefferson Airplane,Eno, The Moody Blues,The Band, CCR, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Joe Cocker, Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, The B-52's, The Cranberrys, Paul Williams, The Three Tenors, Janice Ian, Carly Simon, The Irish Rovers, Does George Carlin count? Celine Dion, Green Day, Dire Straits, Indigo Girls, 10,000 Maniacs,Blues Traveler, Louis Prima and Keely Smith- I always saw them as Louie is my dads first cousin, and So many many more groups and single acts. Those earlier concerts bring back memories and like anyone does who goes to concerts I have the original programs and concert ticket halves in albums. For all you Fred Penner and Otis Redding Fans they were both in the Franciscan Seminary with my brother and we use to see them all the time. Who would have thought they ever would have become singers in the spotlight. If you could only have seen them in their long robes and open toed sandals.
  17. Hey Lois if you need help give a holler. I am not that far away, and Diiimmmi I am sending my prayers for your mom and for yours too Lois...
  18. Aw Shucks Ed.... what I said was from the heart, Ed, Hilly, Frannie, Becca, everyone and Darlene I am so glad you picked that name. It suits this forum and all who post here! The passion, understanding and caring is worn on the sleeve by the posters in all the forums but only here in this forum " Is where the Heart is." [This message has been edited by reci (edited October 20, 2002).]
  19. I guess its all about helping Our survival family out and at times when I read some of the posts I wish I lived closer to you all so that I could just run on over and give you all a hand. Do any of you find yourself feeling that way? I think if I could only take care of EdandPegs dad, run over to their house with a warm dinner or sit with their dad so they can have a night out, or perhaps teach Hillbillies daughter and show her there is much more to life she can enjoy, or even nurse Di's mom and wish I had an extra heart to give her if thats what she needs. Its the sharing and caring here that makes us a unique group of people. Neighbor wanting to help neighbor, friend helping friend, stranger helping stranger. Whoever picked the title for this forum " Where the Heart Is," did a good job in naming it because all you have to do is read an original post and you will find that not just one but many hearts will reply to posts out of love, caring, concern and sharing.
  20. You and your mom and family are in our prayers Diiii
  21. Do you realize that most school district pass the underachievers because they the districts get monies from the Federal Government to incorporate into their school budgets (High Paying salaries to school admins) every year. In most cases it is not the fault of either the student or the parents, as most school districts make the parents believe. Think about it. They pass the kids who can't keep up, year after year and when the kids get to higher grades and can't do the 3 R's they the district call the parents on the carpet. Listen Hilly when these problems started the school should have contacted you right away and before you came into the picture they should have contacted your husband about the problems your little girl was having. They should have had her tested for learning disabilities when the problems with her learning first started. If they haven't I would check and see why they didn't. Even if parents are dealing with childrens emotional problems at home the school also can provide council to handle these and other types of problems so that the kids can get professional counciling without it costing you a cent. Same goes for the learning problems. They have to provide tutors, aids, learning tools and other that will help the student, and don't let them tell you any different. Remember The Schools kept passing your child from grade to grade. Some teachers are put in a position where they are made to slide the non passing kids to the next grade and it all has to do with quota's,and the extra monies the governments, local and federal will give to the schools. This also applys to How many are on the bus, attendence in class, free breakfast and lunch programs. The more kids who take advantage of these programs the more money the school gets. Most parents are not made aware of the services that the schools provide and if counciling is in order for your child it can be done discretely without other kids finding out about it. I think I need spellcheck today, I am having a menopause moment here...LOL Anyway don't get bummed out. Do what you feel you have to do to get your daughter out of her rut and if you do change schools make sure they have everything available to help your daughter. Becca Annes post is so true and typical of the way the schools systems work around this country. I have had to tutor many of my university students in the passed because they can't read or write. Becca Annes children and yours are the true victims in your posts. I think Becca is right in homeschooling her daughter. I have taught many homeschooled young men and women who came to the Univerity where I teach, for their college educations and they are some of the best well rounded students I have had. I hope all turns out well for you and your daughter. Just keep on plugging and don't let the system get to you.
  22. I will bid $57.31 and throw in a 1 nuclear kitten and a smoked stuffed possum!
