I hope those in the ice storm make it okay. We have had a few of them and it can be a real disaster.

It has been warm here for about a week and they predict at least another week of warm weather. That will sure help on the gas heat bill!

DH and I were both lazy today. We had no excuse..the weather was nice and no one was sick or aching. I feel guilty, like I wasted a day. All I did was cook and dishes. I took a bath too..lol..does that count?

You gotta be on guard all the time. It is sad that people are taken advantage of like this.

Magazines are having problems nowadays with a fake group that sends fake renewal forms that look real. People assume their subscriptions are about to lapse and pay. It is a scam. I myself have gotten 4 of these fake invoices. I can see how some folks could be tricked by these and other scams. I don't even answer my home phone anymore unless I know who it is with the caller ID.

Snowy I hope your DH gets better soon. My DH has alot of bronchial troubles too. He smokes which makes it harder to heal everytime he gets a cold or bronchitis. I hope Old Pines tests come back with good results.

Good for you..it is hard to keep up exercise when you have health worries.

I got the warning for a week using Firefox. I obeyed because I have never had that warning pop up before so I was concerned. I thought maybe the bad guys had gotten control of MrsS. I had DS check it out, and he said it was okay to come in so I'm back.

We have the flu around here. I've never had any flu before and hope my luck holds out. I worry about DH getting it because he has bad lung capacity and a history of getting colds and bronchitis. I will be sweating this out all winter with him.

It was spitting snow this am but not accumulating here yet. Further south it is already getting deep.

I have a big pot of split pea and ham soup going. Perfect weather for that. I'll probably add some cornbread with it for dinner. DH loves his comfort food.

Cat..I had the same thing happen to me with credit. I was a single young mother with a low income but I had already had an account with my hubby. He had made the same amount as me only he was supporting three on that income instead of the two I was supporting. I typed up a letter to the local Sears manager telling him that it was unfair and should be illegal. He called me in and approved me for the amount I needed to purchase the bookcase that I wanted so bad. It was only a little over $100 to finance. lol

Remember when the clerks worked on commission and practically shadowed you all through the store? They also paid retirement and benefits to their sales people.

WE2, we have one of those appliance type "Sears" independent owner local stores here and they are closing. It is sad.

The Sears wishbook was one of the highlights of my childhood. When it first came, my sister and I each got an hour at a time and then had to swap with the other. We also got Wards, Aldens and Speigel but Sears was the best! We lived in a small town with few stores so we ordered from Sears often.

In my case 2017 has got to be better!

The first thing I'll do today is to put the date of 2017 on about the next 10 checks in my checkbook! It'll take a few days to get used to the new date so I'll be prepared.

Today I am writing down my monthly budget. It always helps to have a guideline and reminder. I also note all the biannual and annual expenses so I don't forget. The income part is easy..the same as last year unfortunately. Being organized can help save alot of money!

I do have something to celebrate besides 2017..Alabama won tonight and will play Clemson for the national championship. ROLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE.

Now I must go find a cute lampshade to wear that matches my clothes.

DH got his social security statement for 2017. He gets a small .03% increase which is exactly how much more they will take for his increased Medicare premium. His check will be the same amount he has gotten the last 2 years.

I forgot to mention that the city has put out a bunch of those white light plastic decorations that go on the light poles. That's about it though. Even the old fashioned 1910 department store building isn't decorated.

Why aren't you walking outside? LOL

I hope things are looking brighter today for the " Worms"

On our way into the nearest little town this am I noticed something weird. It is a very nice all American type town of about 7,000 people. As we drove through the central downtown area, not 1 business had any Christmas decorations out side. I remember just a few years back that most banks etc would at least have a big wreath on the door. When we got to the other side of town that has several strip malls I thought maybe it would change. I really expected at least Hobby Lobby or Lowe's would have something..nope. The only business I saw decorated was a local grocery store where someone had painted Christmas scenes on the front windows. Maybe this political correctness has really taken hold, even in the rural south.

Is it like this in your area too? I also notice that each year fewer and fewer folks put lights on their houses outside.

I am making an effort to be healthier again.

Last night was baked haddock with a crumb topping, baked sweet potatoes, sauteed zucchini with onion and beet salad.

Tonight is stuffed green peppers in tomato sauce, mashed spuds for DH, fresh pineapple wedges and asparagus spears.

Time to study and choose healthcare and drug plans for 2017. You need to recheck them every year as your needs and your plans change often! Medicare choices must be made by Dec 7th and Obamacare by Dec 15th. Private companies have various deadlines. Be aware and don't waste your money!

No snow here but it is finally chilly.

Today is the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It is state law that you MUST watch the annual Auburn-Alabama game. Although I usually root for Alabama (currently the National champion) I won't be too upset if Auburn wins. Princess Sr. is going to Auburn this year and also is in their band. Right now while the game is on, the roads are nearly deserted..restaurants have no waiting and home toilets flush in unison during commercials. I am not kidding. It is that big of a deal here.

Tonight will be a turkey free meal to give poor DH a break. lol..he can't take any more turkey.

I will have to do laundry tomorrow..no choice in the matter.

Did anyone venture out of do any online Christmas shopping yet? As cheap as I am, I refuse to fight a crowd, even to save money. Did anyone get any great deals? I looked online a bit Thursday evening but I didn't see anything we needed. Maybe I'll look again on Cyber Monday.
