  1. Posted by Littlesister: https://www.mrssurvival.com/topic/58097-watcha-doing-today/page/18/#comment-502884 "Becca Anne, have a wonderful and safe trip. I know you can't wait to see the new grandbaby when it is born. I will be doing the same depending on where my GD and her DH are transferred to . But thinking it will be NC or SC. He is now in boot camp for coast guard and will be working on planes."
  2. Some vids about USCG Boot Camp This video includes a short section on the history of the USCG (which is older than the Navy!)
  3. I think shingles is brought on by stress, so with today's happenings everybody is feeling more stressed, even the "young'uns." I hope her doctors are able to get this under control. I understand it can be a very painful experience.
  4. I have never heard of an unsupervised student "examining" a patient! I hope you took names, and I would "report" the Assistant too as he/she was not in control of the students or your visit! Good on you for switching care givers (doctors)! BTW - did any of them don gloves, or even wash their hands???
  5. I was talking about the "island." Painted a rock a few years ago for a contest within a FB group ...................
  6. Maybe it's time to rethink the office/customer set-up? Smaller room in the front of the house? Folding screens to section off the office? Camera in the office? Does DH have the same creepie-crawlies about this customer? Might have to let this customer go - just for peace of mind.
  7. I have to stop and think about the spelling of this word all of the time! You???
  8. I don't think I could've "written" this in "Danish" either!!! Well, maybe I could have written it, but it would not have survived the time necessary to take the picture!!!
  9. I know a store for you to shop in for T-Shirts and just in time for Mother's Day at that - Buy 3 get 1 free! https://pumapat.com/ Here are some examples that are just "you." Would you actually wear them? I have no idea, but they sure do express what you've been posting about recently.
  10. My tags need to be renewed in June, but it has to be smogged this year too. Additional expense!
  11. Thanks everyone! I've been telling everyone I'm in my "prime" today. Seventy-one is a prime number don'tcha know! I got the new WiFi gateway on Friday and switched it over on Sunday. It did NOT to well. I was offline until today when a tech finally came and got me back up and running. Seems that the network was still searching for the old one and was having a nervous breakdown! Anyway, weather was nicer yesterday so I spent some time bbq-ing some chicken drumsticks and a thick steak. The chix was good but I wanted the beef for today. Not sure if I am actually going to have that for dinner or if I am taking myself out to eat. Finally got back online a short time ago so I am going to see if any local restaurants have B-day specials. Had to renew my license this year - including "knowledge test," eye test, and new picture. Put both licenses side-by-side and noticed quite a difference in the pictures - and not just the gray hair! In the old pic I weighed 400+ pounds; in the new one I am less than 300. I must say, I'm lookin' good. Keto on!
  12. Betcha' can't not "sing" this one! Somebody wrote a "serious" answer in the post I "stole" this from: The alligator's head is shaped like an "A" and the crockodile's head is shaped like a "C." But, if you think about it, that only helps you to identify one from the other, but does not answer the question. So, them trying to "show off" failed............... miserably!!!
  13. Close! I picked up the meat, put it into a bowl and rinsed all of the dog hair off of it! Then I washed the jar, and packed it with the end pieces that I had cut off and placed into a different bowl, added the spaghetti sauce and processed the jars. The meat that hit the floor was part of my dinner that night.
  14. Perhaps "rescued" is a better word??? ------------------------------------------ I had 6 pounds of Sweet Italian Sausage all cooked up and ready to be canned. I stood at the counter and cut of the ends of each link and put them in a separate bowl, then sliced the rest of the links into coins and put them back into the cooking broth to keep them hot. (I was going to eat the end pieces for dinner tonight.) I had 6 jars filled with the meat and the broth, and I was working on filling the other 3 with tomato sauce. I turned around from the sink and my arm caught the handle of the funnel and knocked it to the floor! The sausage chunks spilled out of the jar onto the floor (without breaking the jar!) Thankfully I had not added the spaghetti sauce to the jar yet! I had prevented the dog from scarfing up the meat, so I picked it up and put it into a bowl. Now what do I do??? (BTW - I did process a full load of 9 jars.) With the information I have given you, what would you have done? What do you think I did? (The correct answer gets this blue ribbon.
  15. If you have any pots or raised beds you can use those branches to fill the bottoms and cut down on the amount of soil you would need to use to fill them.
  16. If you go back and look at the pics, each dollar amount is the yearly estimated cost for each tier. I am currently paying somewhere in the ballpark of $70-75/mo, so about $840-$900/yr; but I also have a medical discount on my rate as well as a low income subsidy. I have no idea how much it would actually be if I didn't have those program discounts.
  17. Rate plan choices with PG&E. Not sure about the power companies in southern Ca.
  18. [RE: "Smart Meters"] You have to sign up for this program; at least that us the way it is with PG&E. (Not so sure about other power companies in the state). The enticement is a lower electric bill. Not worth it, IMO!!!
  19. This ceremony took place on March 23, 2003. Unfortunately, the Medal of Honor recipients are who presented the wreath are not named in the video's description box. Thank you gentlemen for your distinguished service to your brothers-in-arms. ETA: While I was able to find the following information, I still have not been able to find any information about who gentlemen in this video are. March 25 was established by Congress as National Medal of Honor Day to “foster public appreciation and recognition of Medal of Honor recipients.” To date, there have been 3,468 Medals of Honor awarded to those who fight to keep our country safe I was also able to find this video excerpt published by Arlington National Cemetery. On March 25, 2023, Medal of Honor Recipients gathered at Arlington National Cemetery for an annual reflection ceremony which included a wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Presenter's names not listed. Finally! https://www.dvidshub.net/image/7700650/medal-honor-recipients-visit-arlington-national-cemetery-commemorate-national-medal-honor-day
  20. My grandmother had that type of deadbolt on her front door. When she locked up at night she left the keys in the lock. That way she knew exactly where they were, did not have to search for them in her purse or elsewhere in the morning, and knew when she went to bed that she could get out of the house if she needed to.
  21. Some more fun with words and phrases that I know you will all enjoy!
  22. Sounds like it would be a great place for a greenhouse or a raised bed garden.
  23. Layer them in the bottom of your planters, or use for mulch on top of garden (Cut holes for the stems).
  24. My kitchen trash container is actually a clothes hamper! I like to use it there because it is bigger than most kitchen cans, it is on wheels, and it has a handle (for pulling it along). I put a 55gal trash bag in it as a "liner" and I hang one of the grocery store bags off of the handle into the hamper. Everything "food" goes into the smaller bag which gets taken out to the trash once it is full. Paper goods, floor sweepings, etc go into the main bin which only gets taken out when it's full - about once/month. It was NOT this insane price when I bought it years ago.
