  1. Link to printed recipe: https://suttonsdaze.com/rhubarb-quick-bread/
  2. My email wasn't forwarding to the designated account and the mail sent by MrsS kept getting rejected - thus the problem. Changed my email for this site to my "real" name and all is well again.
  3. @Annarchy Is this from MrsS; or possibly my anti-virus software??? (It's not "clickable" to open)
  4. My MIL used to eat the HUGE ones - the kind where you could only fit one into a bowl! Can't remember if they were "frosted" or not though. I could never eat any variety of these as a cereal in milk cause they got tooooooooo mushy, BUT, I love the mini variety out of the box with just a little bit of peanut butter spread on them. Yum!
  5. Tags here are a percentage of the resale value of the car (or is it the age of the car?). It will cost me $122 for one year's tags, plus it has to be smogged this year too. Must be done by the date assigned in the notice or there are penalties for late registration. (It would be nice if it was due by the end of the month instead of a specific date of the month, but I guess they do it that way to spread the workload out over the month instead of having a last minute end of the month rush.)
  6. I watched this vid from Suttons Daze a while back and I wonder if Dates get dry enough (completely dry) to make it safe to vaccum seal them???
  7. I hope he doesn't start using you as a reference or a contact person for his monetary woes. I can't say for sure, but I believe my son was doing that for a while because I would get calls from collection agencies etc asking for him. I would ask them how they got my name and contact information, or WHEN they got it but they said they couldn't tell me that due to "privacy" issues. I asked them how could it be "private" when he was using MY information??? Never got a reply to either query.
  8. Latest addition to the "collection" If you actually did this, how would you describe your "skills" on the resume???
  9. @Littlesister 9This is definitely the Reader's Digest version of events that happened over a 2 year period) My son was living with me for a while - off of the books in a one bedroom apt. Things happened. He went cookoo. I was sitting at the comp playing a game and he went into the kitchen, came back w/ a pair of scissors and cut the power cord. I went into the bathroom, he went outside (can't remember why). I locked the door and would not let him back in. HE called the cops. They came to the house and said I had to let him back in. I said, "No, I don't feel safe with him around anymore." Cops couldn't MAKE me let him back in, so he spent the night throwing buckets of water at my windows. I offered to pay for 3 nights at a Motel 6. He only stayed one night, left all of his belongings there. Every once in a while he would borrow a phone, call me to ask if he could come back; even put the stranger whose phone he was using on the line to plead his case. It was very hard to say, "No." Once he showed up cold and wet and his feet were a mess. I let him in for a hot shower then told him he could sleep in the car - which I unlocked and kept the keys with me. More things happened. He went berserk over something minor. Next think I knew he was in the parking lot jumping up and down on my car and bashing it with a metal rod. Cops were called. He was hauled off to jail. Tried and found guilty of felony vandalism (I believe), so now he is a felon. Spent some time in jail, then on probation for 3 years. Five years later has finally checked himself into Rehab and is now in a "group home" in TX using his veteran's benefits. He has reached out and I have established limited contact with him though his brother and sister want nothing to do with him. But, what are you going to do when your prodigal tries to make amends? Still - keeping him at a distant with limited interaction is the path forward for now. As hard as it is YOU are not responsible for him. He has to be responsible for himself. His mother has apparently given up on him and hopes that YOU will "succeed" where she failed. Ain't gonna happen. Time for some tough love, and yes, it will be tougher on YOU than on him. Take pictures. Document everything you can. At some point you may have to have evidence that HE is the aggressor and YOU are the victim! (BTW - If YOU are the reason why he "can't wait" to get out of there tell him to go home to his momma while he's waiting for the move-in date of the apt (which probably isn't going to happen - based on his history.) BTDT ETA Pictures I found of the car he trashed
  10. Compund words can be so much fun!
  11. Posted by Littlesister: https://www.mrssurvival.com/topic/58097-watcha-doing-today/page/18/#comment-502884 "Becca Anne, have a wonderful and safe trip. I know you can't wait to see the new grandbaby when it is born. I will be doing the same depending on where my GD and her DH are transferred to . But thinking it will be NC or SC. He is now in boot camp for coast guard and will be working on planes."
  12. Some vids about USCG Boot Camp This video includes a short section on the history of the USCG (which is older than the Navy!)
  13. I think shingles is brought on by stress, so with today's happenings everybody is feeling more stressed, even the "young'uns." I hope her doctors are able to get this under control. I understand it can be a very painful experience.
  14. I have never heard of an unsupervised student "examining" a patient! I hope you took names, and I would "report" the Assistant too as he/she was not in control of the students or your visit! Good on you for switching care givers (doctors)! BTW - did any of them don gloves, or even wash their hands???
  15. I was talking about the "island." Painted a rock a few years ago for a contest within a FB group ...................
  16. Maybe it's time to rethink the office/customer set-up? Smaller room in the front of the house? Folding screens to section off the office? Camera in the office? Does DH have the same creepie-crawlies about this customer? Might have to let this customer go - just for peace of mind.
  17. I have to stop and think about the spelling of this word all of the time! You???
  18. I don't think I could've "written" this in "Danish" either!!! Well, maybe I could have written it, but it would not have survived the time necessary to take the picture!!!
  19. I know a store for you to shop in for T-Shirts and just in time for Mother's Day at that - Buy 3 get 1 free! https://pumapat.com/ Here are some examples that are just "you." Would you actually wear them? I have no idea, but they sure do express what you've been posting about recently.
  20. My tags need to be renewed in June, but it has to be smogged this year too. Additional expense!
  21. Thanks everyone! I've been telling everyone I'm in my "prime" today. Seventy-one is a prime number don'tcha know! I got the new WiFi gateway on Friday and switched it over on Sunday. It did NOT to well. I was offline until today when a tech finally came and got me back up and running. Seems that the network was still searching for the old one and was having a nervous breakdown! Anyway, weather was nicer yesterday so I spent some time bbq-ing some chicken drumsticks and a thick steak. The chix was good but I wanted the beef for today. Not sure if I am actually going to have that for dinner or if I am taking myself out to eat. Finally got back online a short time ago so I am going to see if any local restaurants have B-day specials. Had to renew my license this year - including "knowledge test," eye test, and new picture. Put both licenses side-by-side and noticed quite a difference in the pictures - and not just the gray hair! In the old pic I weighed 400+ pounds; in the new one I am less than 300. I must say, I'm lookin' good. Keto on!
  22. Betcha' can't not "sing" this one! Somebody wrote a "serious" answer in the post I "stole" this from: The alligator's head is shaped like an "A" and the crockodile's head is shaped like a "C." But, if you think about it, that only helps you to identify one from the other, but does not answer the question. So, them trying to "show off" failed............... miserably!!!
  23. Close! I picked up the meat, put it into a bowl and rinsed all of the dog hair off of it! Then I washed the jar, and packed it with the end pieces that I had cut off and placed into a different bowl, added the spaghetti sauce and processed the jars. The meat that hit the floor was part of my dinner that night.
  24. Perhaps "rescued" is a better word??? ------------------------------------------ I had 6 pounds of Sweet Italian Sausage all cooked up and ready to be canned. I stood at the counter and cut of the ends of each link and put them in a separate bowl, then sliced the rest of the links into coins and put them back into the cooking broth to keep them hot. (I was going to eat the end pieces for dinner tonight.) I had 6 jars filled with the meat and the broth, and I was working on filling the other 3 with tomato sauce. I turned around from the sink and my arm caught the handle of the funnel and knocked it to the floor! The sausage chunks spilled out of the jar onto the floor (without breaking the jar!) Thankfully I had not added the spaghetti sauce to the jar yet! I had prevented the dog from scarfing up the meat, so I picked it up and put it into a bowl. Now what do I do??? (BTW - I did process a full load of 9 jars.) With the information I have given you, what would you have done? What do you think I did? (The correct answer gets this blue ribbon.
