  1. If you have any pots or raised beds you can use those branches to fill the bottoms and cut down on the amount of soil you would need to use to fill them.
  2. If you go back and look at the pics, each dollar amount is the yearly estimated cost for each tier. I am currently paying somewhere in the ballpark of $70-75/mo, so about $840-$900/yr; but I also have a medical discount on my rate as well as a low income subsidy. I have no idea how much it would actually be if I didn't have those program discounts.
  3. Rate plan choices with PG&E. Not sure about the power companies in southern Ca.
  4. [RE: "Smart Meters"] You have to sign up for this program; at least that us the way it is with PG&E. (Not so sure about other power companies in the state). The enticement is a lower electric bill. Not worth it, IMO!!!
  5. This ceremony took place on March 23, 2003. Unfortunately, the Medal of Honor recipients are who presented the wreath are not named in the video's description box. Thank you gentlemen for your distinguished service to your brothers-in-arms. ETA: While I was able to find the following information, I still have not been able to find any information about who gentlemen in this video are. March 25 was established by Congress as National Medal of Honor Day to “foster public appreciation and recognition of Medal of Honor recipients.” To date, there have been 3,468 Medals of Honor awarded to those who fight to keep our country safe I was also able to find this video excerpt published by Arlington National Cemetery. On March 25, 2023, Medal of Honor Recipients gathered at Arlington National Cemetery for an annual reflection ceremony which included a wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Presenter's names not listed. Finally! https://www.dvidshub.net/image/7700650/medal-honor-recipients-visit-arlington-national-cemetery-commemorate-national-medal-honor-day
  6. My grandmother had that type of deadbolt on her front door. When she locked up at night she left the keys in the lock. That way she knew exactly where they were, did not have to search for them in her purse or elsewhere in the morning, and knew when she went to bed that she could get out of the house if she needed to.
  7. Some more fun with words and phrases that I know you will all enjoy!
  8. Sounds like it would be a great place for a greenhouse or a raised bed garden.
  9. Layer them in the bottom of your planters, or use for mulch on top of garden (Cut holes for the stems).
  10. My kitchen trash container is actually a clothes hamper! I like to use it there because it is bigger than most kitchen cans, it is on wheels, and it has a handle (for pulling it along). I put a 55gal trash bag in it as a "liner" and I hang one of the grocery store bags off of the handle into the hamper. Everything "food" goes into the smaller bag which gets taken out to the trash once it is full. Paper goods, floor sweepings, etc go into the main bin which only gets taken out when it's full - about once/month. It was NOT this insane price when I bought it years ago.
  11. Several years ago Calif started requiring stores to charge 10¢ for bags - no more free bags for you! The "new" bags are more heavy duty and reusable, but a lot of people would still rather get new bags than try to remember to bring the "old" ones back to the store with them. I think most people just toss the bags into the trash once they get them emptied at home; kinda defeats the idea of "reducing" plastic waste and keeping the landfills from filling up too quickly. The bags aren't really that great for using as trash bags at home either. The only "exception" for stores having to charge for bags is if less than X% of the goods sold are grocery items- can't remember the percentage - but Hobby Lobby is definitely one of the stores that wasn't mandated to charge for bags. I have no idea if they are doing it now as I don't shop there.
  12. This came across my FB feed yesterday and I think it is a very good "explanation" forthe Resurrection of Christ.
  13. I'm sorry LS. I guess I didn't pay attention to the date you specified.
  14. Forgive me for asking @Littlesister, but I thought you said that he was definitely going to be gone (on a Monday. Last or coming up?) Did I miss something you posted about reconsidering the situation/changing your mind???
  15. I hope that getting an "official" diagnosis for this condition - if you have it - will not affect you being able to keep your driver's license, and, your independence!
  16. If you have a CVS Pharmacy near you it might be a good idea to sign up for the "Care Pass" option for $5+tax/month. You will get $10 "Extra Bucks" per month to spend however you want, plus you get 20% off all store brand items. (Plus, you can shop online and have your purchases mailed for free.) BUT, the biggest advantage for you would be the option to AUTO-FILL your scripts and have them mailed to you FREE. Just something to consider.
  17. Unfortunately, the company did the delete and restoration without contacting her first as she had requested.
  18. I hope Virginia is more helpful/supportive to "landlords" than Calif is! In this state, if someone stays in your house for more than 30 days they are considered a "tenant" and they can cause all kinds of havoc if they don't want to leave; including you having to legally evict them! And that can take up to 90 days!
  19. Will you be searching for a new hosting company, or are you "content" with their resolution of this problem???

  21. @Annarchy & @Littlesister Do you ladies use the "Unread Content" button to find what you've missed? It works great.
  22. They offered, but I didn't have it with me. Besides, I was still in my lazy phase of "putting it off" until I felt like doing it.
  23. I finally got around to using my CGM! (continuous glucose meter) I've had it and the supplies for it since either Dec or Jan, but I never go around to reading the instructions and learning how to apply the sensor and adding the app to my phone. When I finally took the plunge (about 10 days ago) I couldn't get it to "work." Turns out that the supply of sensors that I had were expired and the phone (app installed) wasn't able to read anything for that reason! Oooops! And here I thought that I would be able to build up a supply in case of ......................... I fussed and I fumed and I finally got the "Quick Start" sheet out to read it, put on a fresh sensor and tried again. For some reason the app on the phone wasn't working correctly (I'm blaming it on the app, not user error! ) and in my haste to get out the door for an appointment, I totally screwed up my phone! I'm going to have to go to the AT&T store and see if they can help me out. In the meantime, I found the "reader" that goes with the system (it's like a hand held glucose meter) and have been using that successfully! Hooray! I hadn't been using it since (I think) the manual said you can't use both "readers" for the same sensor, and since I always have my phone with me I thought it would be the wisest choice for reading the sensor no matter where I was. I may just have to get used to carrying another "appliance" with me. Anyway, I really like not having to poke my finger every time I want to know how I am doing - especially after testing (eating) a new food.
