  1. Do you have a Safeway nearby? Ours has them on sale for Christmas cheaper than they were for Thanksgiving! Only 49c/lb Perhaps they have way to many left that people couldn't afford to buy then and now they have to get rid of them???
  2. Finally got my turkey soup from Thanksgiving all jarred up! Wound up with 7 quarts. I bought two cases of Ball "Smooth" Jars for a very good price at a Grocery Outlet - only $12.99 each. However, I am pretty sure I am going to return the second case because the "smooth" jars don't have the Ball name in relief, and there aren't any measurement markings on them either. Being smooth made them very difficult to handle once out of the canner because there was some overflow of the broth into the canner and it made the jars very very slick and difficult to get a good grip on bare-handed. Not something I would have thought of before making the purchase!
  3. Not quite sure how to find that out, but, ALL Interstate Highways are Federally built and maintained and do not have tolls. It is state maintained roads that seem to still be able to charge: ie - the New Jersey Turnpike, etc.
  4. When you go shopping, have you ever take your "kid" with you??? Wait for it.... It's coming..... Are you ready? Are you sure? Put down that cup of coffee! Okay. Here it is!
  5. You are too accomodating. It is a great way to be, but it also someone who gets "used" a lot. I hope all of your (their?) plans are finally stabilized.
  6. @snapshotmiki Our pups (and other animals) are very special to us and I am sorry to hear of your loss. It is also sad to learn that you have another beloved companion animal that will soon by waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge. I hope you remaining pets don't take these losses too hard, as it can be hard on us to see them grieving their losses also. Prayers and comfort to your remaining family - 2 legged and 4.
  7. If you are right handed, the fingertips on your left hand will be very tender and sore until you build up on callouses on them. BTW - does yours have nylon strings or the metal ones? Not only makes a difference to your fingertips, but also to the sound quality and volume that the guitar puts out. I'm glad you were able to exchange the meds for the correct brand. Around here, once it goes out the door it is not returnable - even if it's their error.
  8. "Saddle"light navigation!
  9. I hope you all have a wonderful time getting together with friends and family today.
  10. I couldn't remember who it was either, so I looked it up. That's how I found out we were both wrong!
  11. That is not correct according to this website: https://www.fi.edu/en/science-and-education/benjamin-franklin/national-bird Then there's this article from "The History Channel:
  12. We will all be surprised by the "facts" we thought we knew about turkeys and the "First Thanksgiving."
  13. couldn't figure out if that was a typo or not. It's not.
  14. Here's another "educational" word play for you. This one is math based, but you won't need your sliderule in order to figure it out - just make sure you have a dictionary nearby!!!
  15. If you look at the bottom right corner you will see the reflection of the person taking the picture! As to how they "fell" - maybe there was a mini earthquake? How to straighten them out would take at least three people: one to open the door...... one to "catch" the dishes .................... and the third one to film it!!!
  16. You might need a science background for this one. Or, perhaps just a philosophical one. Schrödinger's Plates: They are both broken and not broken until you open the door.
  17. Riverdance has taken their show "on the road" for their 25th Anniversary tour!!! I don't think Michael is dancing anymore. I believe his son has taken that spot.
  18. A Chinese dancing troupe performs an Irish stepdance similar to "Riverdance." A brief 4 minutes of pure entertainment!
  19. The WMarts around here have a "scanning gun" at the check out registers, don't yours? Or maybe you didn't think to look? If they do, it's a good way to avoid those grumpy cashiers, etc.
  20. You have to be of a "certain age" to appreciate this one! @Littlesister See if your GS has any clue at all as to what this is. BTW - you're welcome for the "earworm" everybody!!! (I finally got the opportunity to use this emoji! )
  21. I never wore a face diaper (medical "necessity" - couldn't breathe with my nose obstructed), but most people kept THEIR distance from me. Being in a power (shopping) cart also helped to create the prescribed distance from other people. The most annoying thing was at medical facilities! "Can you please hold that mask away from your face/lips so I can understand what you are saying?" The dentist's office was the most "challenging" of them all. Not onely did they wear a mask, but they also had a full face shield on. (I can understand the face shield. After all, who wants pieces of decaying tooth projectiled at their face as they are "drilling" a cavity!
  22. I know! When I get in the car (or take transportation to doctors' offices) my right arm immediately goes up to my ear to turn down the volume on those babies! It greatly eliminates the road noise by doing so. I also turn them down when shopping, BUT, if I need to ask an employee a question or someone tries to talk to me I have to say, "Just a minute; I need to turn my "ears" up. ) And I am constantly adjusting them while watching videos, etc, online because not all of them have the best audio or the person speaking didn't have the gain on their mic turned up, etc. It's a good thing that YT has a feature that turns CC on/off. Unfortunately, some video creators turn off that feature. Sometimes I will try to "listen" anyway, but am not successful about 50% of the time. Their loss. (Revenue$$$)
  23. @Jeepers Even with my hearings aids I still prefer to turn on closed captioning because there are just some letter combinations that I still can't quite catch without seeing them as I'm listening. Have you ever misheard the lyrics of a song and never found that out until one day you decided to look up the lyrics and read them while the song is playing? It is the same way with some TV/YT videos, etc. I have a very difficult time talking on the telephone as I cannot SEE what they are saying to me. OTOH, sometimes the automatic captioning doesn't work well either and you can wind up reading some very strange stuff and going, "Huh???"
