    Hello!

Hi Happygirl! Welcome and I like your name. i'm fairly new also but its a great family to be a part of. My husband and I are selling everything we own, buying a camper van and going to travel for a while. I think we'll feel like homesteaders even if we aren't. I got my bread maker from a yard sale for $20 but you might try a pawn shop also. Mine is even going with us. Talk to you soon. Miki
  2. WooooHoooo! Cold A/C tonight and my van window has been fixed today also. Thank you all for the wishes and thank you God! Have a great day everyone!!! Mik
  3. Hi again, This is definitely my idea of Gods humour! I whine about no A/C in my van so it goes out in my house. I whine about no A/C in the house to a larger group then I get up this morning go out to my van and my drivers side window won't go down at all. I just had to laugh! I think I'll quit feeling sorry for myself and try being thankful I have a van that runs and a home with fans! Miki
  4. Hi there, Thanks for all the cool wishes! I am sitting here at the computer in a wet t-shirt (no contest going on). I figured if it worked for the dog, it should work for me. Looking forward to winter (or our version of it). Debbielee- My schnauzer, Stevie Rae, is a born traveler and goes most places with me if she can go in. We think we have a buyer for the house and if so the 2 big dogs will stay with the house-part of the deal. The people are animal lovers and will keep the stray kitties too! Praise the Lord! We have been very concerned about them and we are praying this will work out! Mik
  5. A/C went out at home yesterday-will get service Teusday aft. Temp. outside 87 with heat index of 99. Temp inside 94. PLEASE SEND COOL AIR AND CHEESECAKE!!! (not neccessarily in that order) I thought it was bad enough driving around 7 hours a day in my van with no A/C shooting photos of houses, but now the house too! I know I'm whining and actually it reminds me of my childhood when we didn't have air at all but I'm done with being nostalgic. I'll sure appreciate leaving soon! And heading north and west. Thanks for letting me vent. Mik
  6. Hi there, We only have 3 dogs and some stray neighborhood cats. Two of them are big-1 rottweiller. 1 rott mix and 1 miniature schnauzer. She's the boss of the kittys.
  7. Hello everyone! My hobbies are Photography Traveling Hiking(exploring)and camping Baking/canning/catering Schnauzer play Movie going Reading Beach-combing (until we leave/move) That's all I can think of right now.
  8. Hi there, I got my bread machine at an estate sale for $20. I use it pretty often and think I'm going to take it with us when we leave. I've found the blade in a loaf a time or two also. I've been using mixes but am ready to start experimenting with a new recipe book. Miki PS- I always thought I was the only one who got the blade stuck in the bread!
  9. Hi again Debbielee! The thyroid meds have definitely kicked in. I have a lot of energy and have continued to lose weight. 13 pounds now. That carbohydrate addicts diet seems to be the thing for me. I have no excuse to go off it since I can have whatever I want for dinner every day-with dessert. It's taken 5 weeks to lose the weight -lost 6pounds before the thyroid meds. Have a Great Day and remember"Your best days are ahead"! Miki
  10. Hi Lowlander, I wonder if Mr. Blair isn't looking to the future and the possibility of a global government/economy and thus buddying up with President Bush in hopes of favor? Miki
  11. Good morning DeltaMorning! I'm an Alan Keyes type Republican. That probably stereotypes me way right wing. I'm from Florida where the humidity is always 100% or higher! i'm fairly new also. Welcome to the family. Miki
  12. Hi Debbielee, Having a small yard sale next Saturday,(shot a wedding today). The first moving sale is at the end of Oct. when the snowbirds are back down here. Then we get our campervan and pack it and my minivan that were going to tow, and then probably have another moving sale because we keep too much the first time. Showed the house today but its not on the market or appraised or anything. Thats all for now. After the big sale, I'll feel more like we're really going. Miki Snappie
  13. Hi DeeK, I used to think I would wake up 1 day and be motivated to start again and then I read that the only way to get motivated is by actually doing it for a little while and that's what motivates me. I hope that makes a little sense. I may be qualified to give advice on motivation but not qualified to advise anyone about eating habits. Or I'd be thin! The only other thing I know is that I ask God for help with my weight problem all the time and than he puts things in front of me and I tend to say "Well thats a good idea but what should I Do about my problem?" instead of using what He puts in front of me(Usually to do with exercise). I don't mean to talk about me but my example is all I have to offer to you. I hope some of this helps, can't be any worse than some of the stupid e-mails I get on a daily basis. Miki PS--Your best days are ahead!
  14. Hi there. The yoga tapes I bought turned out to be mostly advertisement for yoga magazines, props, etc. I returned them and it took 30 minutes just to get a store credit because I opened them. I tried to explain that I couldn't have known they were mostly ads without opening them but it took getting into management to get it done. I also bought a new digital scale so of course it says i'm 3 pounnds heavier. Oh well, here we go. Miki

    Yoga Videos

After reading Skippys post about yoga I went to Walmart and bought a set of 2 twenty minute yoga tapes 1 for AM and 1 for PM. I'm still kind of up as I've lost 11 pounds now on the carbohydrate addicts diet (and got my thyroid medicine right). Maybe I'll actually do the tapes! Miki
  16. I have a Miniature schnauzer named Stevie Rae Blue. She is the light of our lives(in this world). She was very abused when we got her and non responsive but we knew if we didn't buy her she would die. After $300 in vet bills she recovered physically and bonded with me. My husband can't even kiss me without her trying to push him away. She's not real good with people yet but we keep trying to socialize her. She will come with us on our trip of course. She stand on my husbands chest and tries to stick her nose in his mouth to see what he's had. My husband has long hair and she stands on the back seat and pulls it while he drives (looks funny from the next car). Maybe we'll meet up with some of you as we travel. Miki

    Good plan-all of it! Miki
  19. Have fun at your job. Temporary jobs are the only kind to have! (if possible that is) Miki
  20. Hi LadyC, I didn't know that Walmart sold gas anywhere. Does Sams sell gas too? When people ask where we're going I tell them we have a direction not a destination. West. Miki

    Intro

Hi Lady Tiana, I'm pretty new also, but it's a lot of fun. I'm 45 and my husband and I are preparing to go on the road in a camper van for a while. Big change from having a house and businesses. We also have a Mini schnauzer who is like our child and of course will come with us. Perhaps we'll be in your area some day. Miki

    Hello Everybody!

Hi there and welcome! I found this site when I was looking up homesteading also. I've never belonged to an internet group before but everyone is real friendly. I've learned quite a few things and I like gettin several different opinions. Miki
  23. Have a great Wedding Day. The only advice I ever give brides who seem to be getting a little stressed is"The wedding is a celebration and should be fun, its the marriage you need to take seriously!" So have fun! Miki
  24. Have you all ever heard of this diet? It's by Rachael Heller. I've been on it for 3 weeks with no desire to go off it. I've lost 6 pounds without exercising. You eat a low carb meal for breakfast and lunch, then start dinner with a salad and have whatever you want for dinner including dessert. You can't go nuts and are suppose to keep your meal proportionate but it's easier than thinking I've got to wait 2 months to have a piece of bread. Your bkfst and lunch have to be eaten within 15 minutes and dinner eaten within 60 minutes. It has something to do with releasing less insulin. Anyone diabetic should check with a doctor and anyone else should read the book, not just listen to me, but for me to stay on any diet for 3 weeks and still be ok with it is great! Maybe now that I'm on thyroid meds I'll lose easier. Miki

    thyroid woes

Hi Goose Liver, When I was diagnosed I was tired all the time and had lots of muscle aches. Now the aches are almost gone and I have more energy than I remember having and without caffeine. I'm on Levothroid 0.1 mg. Hopefully I won't have to be on it forever. I'll check the thyroid website next time I'm on. I don't take calcium because I tend to get kidney stones- I eat lots of green leafy veggies. I've never heard about the flouride thing so I'll see what I can find at the health food store. Thanks again Miki P.S. Thanks to everyone for the support!!!
