  1. At 8:30 this morning I was at the BMV to get Son's driving permit and DD1's license plate for her 1st car.
He was old enough to get it last year but we put it off. This afternoon he drove me to his favorite fishing spot and then to farmer friends to show them his "mug shot" Soon he is driving DD2 to her boyfriends house so she can spend the afternoon with his family.
When did my babies get old enough to drive, get cars and boy/girlfriends? DD1 has someone "Very Seriousl" in her life and DD2 will get her driving permit in 6 months.

Last week I went to the farmer's market 3 times. Once with DD1, once with Son and I went back because a vendor had saved some cherry tomato plants for someone and she told Son if they didn't show up to buy them she would call him so he could buy them. He has other heirloom tomato plants but wanted cherry tomatoes too.

We went to the farmer's market today and while I was buying eggs and swiss chard from another vendor the vendor from last week saw Son and handed him a tomato plant told him the size, color, type of tomato ( brown berry) plant. When I got there he just stood there with the plant in his hands with big pleading eyes.
I'll need to get some more canning jars but there are worse things my teenage son can be into and it will feed us this winter.
He is going to have to till up more garden space.

Dh is at a job interview, for now it would only be part time but it would work around his other job and I'm hoping that it will lead to full time.

  2. A couple were going out for the evening. They'd gotten ready, all dolled up, cat put out, etc. The taxi arrives, and as the couple walked out of the house, the cat shoots back in. They don't want the cat shut in the house, so the wife goes out to the taxi while the husband goes upstairs to chase the cat out.

The wife, not wanting it known that the house will be empty, explains to the taxi driver "He's just going upstairs to say good bye to my mother."

A few minutes later, the husband gets into the cab. "Sorry I took so long," he says, "Stupid old thing was hiding under the bed and I had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out!"

  3. Another conversation with my son not so funny but makes me proud of him.

Dh and I was trying to gently talk to him about porn and how it hurts everyone.
He told us his friend took his phone and was looking at porn on it and that made him mad so he downloaded a porn blocking app. He is close to a teaching assistant/ family friend at school so he had the password emailed to her.
He said it would keep him accountable.

  4. Me... I need new tires on my car.

Him... Are you going to get mud tires?

ME... Why would I do that the tires would be too big and rub against the car.

Him... That's why you need a lift kit.

    Me... It's a station wagon.

Him.. Can we get a truck?

  5. A few weeks ago my good sheets ripped. :(

I was making do with the old sheets but they too has a smaller rip in them so DH told me to get some new sheets.

OK what he really said is "I know how anal you are about fresh sheets and making the bed so go get some new sheets"
We didn't have money budgeted for them so it meant a lot to me for him to let me get the sheets.
I bought a micro-fiber set because they were 200 count and the lowest price.

    I HATE THEM.

It's like sleeping on slime. :yuk: I have tried for weeks to get used to them. I've been slacking on making the bed because what's the point in a nicely made bed when you get in it and feel slimy sheets. :gaah:

I'm not sleeping well with twisted slimy sheets. :groooansmileyf:
I've been saving a few dollars every week and today I bought 300 count 100% cotton sheets. They are in the dryer now.
I'm looking forward to sleeping in a nice freshly non- slimy made bed tonight. :cloud9:
Yes Dear, the anal bed maker is back. The only way it would get better is to declutter and wash the windows, walls and curtains . :dusting:
I have to work this Saturday but next weekend is a 3 day weekend

  8. The older my kids get the more errands I'm running for them. DD2 is on set crew for the spring play at school, They have had 9 snow days and are a month behind on making the set so she has been going in on Saturdays to work on it.
DD1 comes home every few weeks to see her boyfriend, and when she's home she wants to use my car.
I'm trying to get Son licensed so him can help on errands.

His headache from the concussion is finally lessening and he's not so cranky now but the neighbor girl was in a car wreck this week. Her boyfriend was going to fast and hit black ice. She spent the night in the hospital and Son is going to her house everyday to help her and her Mom who just had a heart attack.

The snow was melting but we still have a lot of it around. Now that it got cold again instead of snowy and slick it's icy and slick.

I've been cleaning out my kitchen so we can take out the HATED ISLAND and move the refrigerator to a different wall. We are also going to put in a laundry chute. My washer is in the garage. For the last 21 years it has frozen every winter.
This year it has been frozen for 6 weeks. Now DH has to replace a valve and maybe the pump so we're moving it to the basement.
I'm also starting a real food group at church. I'm eliminating processed food from my diet so I've been doing some research and planing for the group.

  9. I'm moving to a Paleo diet. Not because I have a big belief in it but because I want to eliminate processed food and it seems the best diet to do that.
I don't like all the non food chemicals and GMO's they are putting into our food.

There is a CSA farm near me but I don't have the freezer space right now for meat. By summer I will have the freezer cleaned out and moved to a better spot.
Most meats from the store have added " broth" to them so you are paying for added water and whatever chemicals that are in the "broth".

I haven't done much canning in the past but this year we are going to have a bigger garden and put up most of the produce to have healthier food and to keep cost down.

I found (at Dollar General) some small glass condiment shaker with a 2 piece plastic lid ( one piece has the holes and the other is a screw on lid) for the herbs I'm growing and drying this year.

A few ladies and I at church are starting a support group for the change to real food, beauty products, and cleaners in our homes. We are also ordering online as a group for discounts and to split shipping.

It's slow going for me as I'm highly addicted to processed foods and the cost of switching can be eye opening at first but the long term health benefits make it worthwhile to me.

  10. Friday the school nurse called me and said my 17 year son was horsing around with friends and hit his head on a locker.
He reported to her he was dizzy and she said his memory and thinking was a bit fuzzy.
I called the doctor and they told me symptoms to look for and said if any of these happen to take him to the ER. Dh and I took turns checking on him over night and he seemed fine but he has complained of a headache for the last 2 days.

I just gave him something for the headache and rechecked him for any symptoms but apart form the headache he seems OK.
Tomorrow he's going to the doctor.
Why do these things always seem to happen on a weekend?

  11. We got more snow overnight and with the high winds I now have a 3 foot snow drift in my drive way.

The Toll Road is under a wind ban.which means trucks are not allowed on the toll road include triple trailers, long double big rigs and high-profile oversized loads.

I'm under a winter weather advisory. I don't think I'm going anywhere today.

  12. What a week ,

I didn't want to leave my nice warm bed and I've been sick this week. My car was very reluctant to start this morning so getting up and going to work was hard this morning,
When I got to work 6 people said " I thought you had today off" . No I have next Friday off but they made me think I had the wrong day.

My team leader did have the day off and one of the expecting mothers went home sick so things were not going well for us.
One of my co-workers was acting very strange today. By lunch time I knew he was stoned out of his mind.
Usually I mind my own business but he was affecting my job and his behavior was getting stranger so at lunch I talked to the other team leader in our department.
He told me that I was the second person to tell him about stoned guy today so together we went to our supervisor.
They sent him to do a drug test after lunch. No one was surprised.

Good news is that I have no where to go this cold windy weekend. We have plenty of food and kerosene and Monday is a non-production day so 3 DAY WEEKEND work 3 day next week and another 3 day weekend.
