I bought a bottle of Mucinex last fall to have on hand just in case. Fortunately, I made it through this past winter without having to use it.

Walmart has a generic liquid plain "Tussin" that is much less expensive than Robitussin. They also sell versions with DM and degongestants, but I like having the plain around for simple chest congestion.

Nana, in her flu stock up post, recommended getting the generic liquid "Tussin" from the dollar store. It's only $1 a bottle. I bought some but haven't had the chance to try it yet. It's worth a try and certainly not costly. Shouldn't be, Guaifenesin has been out on the market for years. The markup for Mucinex is terrific.
